"manufacturers determine warranty responsibility. Mr. [member name removed] left fuel in his unit that had gone bad, this is not, nor has it ever been a manufacturing defect. His displeasure arises from the fact that he had to pay for his own mistake. Without checking to see if the problem was rectified we could not have said there was no other problem with his equipment. A $58.00 charge under these circumstances is hardly excessive and would not cover a check out fee at many locations."
This is a service used by my neighbor for his riding mower and he has been pleased with it. When I had problems with my riding mower this Spring I got the name and phone number from him. Before called, I checked Angie's List to see if they were listed, and found them there.
When May arrived I wanted to do some preliminary yard work with my mower, but it would not start. First the battery was dead, but even with trying to get enough a charge on it by jumping to my auto it still would not start. I called Montebello, told them the problem, and arranged to have them pick up the mower (I have no vehicle to take it anywhere). Their truck arrived as promised.
Considering this was a busy time for them, I did not expect to hear back immediately. Other personal issues came up so I felt no sense of urgency. Besides not starting, I told them of another problem with shifting gears while operating. They called me with a list of what was wrong and gave me a reasonable estimate. A few days later was called and told that the part for the transmission, reason for shifting problem, was no longer available and they would not be able to repair that. A few days later I was called and told the final bill (less than the original estimate because of the unavailable part) and arranged for delivery.
On the whole I am pleased with the result of this transaction. I might have taken less time for the whole process if I had called in March or April, less busy time. Next year I will schedule with my neighbor and have my mower serviced at the same time to save on pick-up and delivery. The company communicates well, keeps the customer informed, and delivers.
I would do business here again and would have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone.
