He was supposed to arrive in the morning and did not arrive until the afternoon. He sanded and applied the first stain coat and floor looked terrible. Color was off and the floor scratches were visible in the floor surface, plus the floor also had cupping (rippled). Bud claimed this was because he used different pads and said he needed to go back to 3M pads. He re-sanded the floor, applied the stain-coat and finish. The first coat of finish, he said it would even out the stain. We were out of the house during this time because of the smell of the finish. When we came back to the house after the 2nd finish coat was applied, we discovered that there were still scratches in the surface, puddle marks in the finish coats, stain was not evening applied, a boot print in the stain, stain splattered on the walls and stain on my deck. The floor surface was not smooth, it was rough. He claimed it could be fixed with a 3rd coat or he wanted to come back and re-sand. We told him no. We were not able to recover our cost for this project and found another contractor who completed the work very well.
