He was professional, but he didn't want to do the carpentry stuff. He said he was looking for more heavy work. The work he did do was okay, but I still had to go back and repaint and recaulk.

I called MBA Contracting to come out and give me a bid to enclose a section of an already finished basement for a home theater room.  This included building two walls, insulating them, moving two speakers, adding 3 new can lights, 4 wall sconces, building a platform and adding wall outlets as necessary.  Jeff and his team were always on time and courteous.  They worked from the time they got to my house until they left until the job was completed.  They would cover stuff I had in the basement to minimize the dust while they were working.  He even waited until I had the carpet re-stretched before coming back to install my baseboards and even re-installed the curtains in the theater room.  I would highly recommend MBA Contracting.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it turned out fine. The person who came out made his appointment and showed up on time. He did not have any helpers and did it all himself. We were pleased with what he did. There was nothing negative and the whole experience was positive. He is still doing other work for us.

He arrived and we showed him the doors that we wanted hung.  He asked a couple of quick questions and looked everything over, took some quick measurements and then went to work.  No talking on his cell phone (he had it on silent mode), no waiting for his coffee to cool off to drink and then think about starting - he just jumped in getting his tools and getting the job done.



He did ask a couple of questions during the project - which I'm glad he did - instead of just assuming - we then quickly discussed a resolution and off he went to continue.  I didn't see him sit down and take a break, much less even a breather.



He even put a mat down under the doors in case of any wood shavings that might have dropped.  He sawed outside in the yard, not on my porch, so that the wood debris (very small shavings) wood just drop on the grass, which was not a mess or a problem.   



Mr. Payne was very polite and professional.  Except for the one or two questions and the sounds of him working, you wouldn't know that he was there.  He did bring a radio, but I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't seen it, as it was kept outside where he was sawing - and the volume was very, very low (his hearing must be great!).



When Mr. Payne arrived I was not here by myself.  My friend needed to run out, but asked me before he left if I felt comfortable enough to be here by myself with Mr. Payne - no problem what-so-ever.  He left and came back approximately 30 minutes later, and all was well.



I have NOT been very successful in the past finding competent, reasonably priced contractors in the past - this was explained to Mr. Payne as he was "fixing and completing" a job that had been started and botched by another.  But I have to say that I feel completely at ease with him and his abilities (in my younger days, I rehabbed several of my own houses, and was paid for doing the same to others - so I'm not "new" to construction).  He told me the areas that he does not have expertise in up-front, and that he has other persons for very specific projects.  He also knows about and provides permits for projects.  He can even help with designs and drawing plans for the new kitchen and bath that I want - YEAH!!



I am so pleased with his work and him that I asked Mr. Payne for some business cards; so that I can pass them out to anyone that needs a "quality" Handyman, that doesn't make you wallet scream.

Jeff was busy when I first contacted him and it took about 2-1/2 weeks to get started, after that it was smooth sailing. He did a fantastic job and it looks great.

Jeff and Jason showed up on time and immediately set to work.  They worked hard all day with no drama.  My doors look beautiful and are solidly attached to their frames.  I couldn't ask for more.  I am having Jeff back soon to install some interior doors.  If I have any other work in the other categories, I will call him.  One thing to watch out for, he didn't have anywhere to take the debris, at least on that day, so I will need to have it taken away in my bulky items pickup, or have it hauled away by someone.  We did not discuss this beforehand, so if this is an issue for you, you might want to get that clear up front.  Also, I used a $144 Bid Deal coupon for four man hours of work, so my cost of service reflects that discount.

He did very well. He came on time, was very friendly and did an excellent job.

About a week before the work, Jeff came and looked at what I wanted done including advice about how my list was much to big to get done in 1/2 day.  From then until he did the work I pared the list down and he got my top 3 items done.

Jeff did a great job making the desk and shelves and then installing them.  He made absolutely certain they were level and also gave me a few hints about how to remove the dark marks on the light wood.  He then installed the handles on a storm door.  The last thing did was helping me complete the construction of a 7' Rubbermaid storage shed.  I had had a problem with the final panel, the two doors and, of course, the roof.  Being taller and stronger than me he was able to get the final pieces in place and we installed the roof together.  The last thing he did was to help me move the shed into position.  I'm very happy with all the work he did today.

Jeff contacted me the day after I purchased the coupon and came the next day to review the work needed.  He scheduled the work, showed up on time and completed it within the time frame he had indicated. 
He was very professional and went about his work in a very efficient manner.  Once the work was completed, his clean up of the area was superb.

My overall experience with them was excellent. They were very professional and were on time every morning. They took about a week's time to complete the project.

Jeff P. and his team did a beautiful job!!  Clean, prompt, courteous~ always friendly and understanding with our requests. Drywall and trim finish fantastic!  We had several contractors give us estimates on finishing our walk-out basement.  Jeff impressed us, as he was adamant about using permits, it gave us a sense of security. His estimate was about the same as the others.

"J"  (Jeff's helper) couldn't be friendlier~ he did an awesome job on the tile and bathroom. 

Brian was great too (He is also a photographer so you know he has an eye for detail). 

My only advice would be for him to use a different electrician.  Electrician disappointed on numerous occasions causing our permit approval to be delayed. (Our ratings do not reflect our experience with the electrician.)

We have highly recommended using Jeff Payne and MBA Contracting to those interested and would definitely use him again.

It went really well. Jeff was very easy to get a hold of. If I had any questions, or wanted to make a change or add something, I could just give him a call. He was very responsive and his attention to detail was outstanding. One of the things we really liked was that we received some allowances for some items such as the Shower, 6 Foot French Door and the windows. It gave us the opportunity to pick something out that we liked and if we were under on any of the allowances, it was credited our way at the end. The project lasted around 2.5 months, and I was amazed at the progress of work even within the first few days
