The overall experience was great. Dave can be a bit hard to get ahold of, but he's always been prompt returning my calls. I was amazed at how quickly they performed all of the work and how thorough he was, explaining in detail what he planned to do, how he planned to do it, and why it should be done that way. The finished product was fantastic.

WOW! I'm SO GLAD I hired B and D Construction to build a new walkway and small patio! I needed an approximate 10and quot; x 12' patio and a sidewalk about 30and quot; long. The site was steep slope, so not as simple as working on flat ground. The slope meant more materials had to be used. David was friendly, professional, and the job went quickly and smoothly. His crew of four or five young guys worked as if the job was choreographed! Every move they made was productive! No loud music, no cussing...just hardworking guys who knew what they were doing.
Dave certainly went the extra mile! He had to remove a heavy firewood rack that was embedded in the ground, but didn't complain or tack on an extra charge. When I could not seem to lock my security gate, Dave immediately said, and quot;I'll take a look and see if I can fix it.and quot; The lock is working now. He also added a drain pipe under the new concrete from the downspout and a step at the end of the sidewalk. Neither were in the bid and I wasn't charged.
Although not a part of the job, Dave probably saved my daughter's life! As Dave and his crew were beginning to pour concrete, my daughter and one of her friends were packing my daughter's SUV to drive to Wisconsin for dog shows. The top carrier had a stack of heavy, folded crates and inside was packed to the gills with crates and show dogs. Dave noticed that one of my daughter's rear tires actually was so worn on the side that metal was showing!! Had my daughter driven on the highway, a devastating blow-out was probably inevitable. I shudder to think what could have happened had Dave not noticed the defective tire. A new set of tires was installed immediately. THANKS DAVE!
If you want the job done well for a very reasonable price and done by great contractors, you can do no better than B and D Construction! When I can afford to have more work done, B and D will have the job without hesitation!

My experience with B and D Construction was very good. I worked primarily with Dave for the estimate, planning the job, and answering my questions. Once the work started, all crew members were easy to interact with, answered questions and worked with me to make small adjustments as the work continued.
I was a little nervous as the written contract was not very detailed and I am much more comfortable with details. But, they did not ask for money up front, but to be paid in full on the day of completion. I was put to ease by working with Dave. He is very respectful in how he communicates and honest in recommendations. He made adjustments as the work progressed on the new posts for the porch at my request. He also made recommendations on the aggregate finish choices. The crew paid attention to the grading of the patio for proper drainage away from our house. This has proven to work in the first few months since installation.
The piering/posts looks good, and it is nice not to worry about this structural item anymore. The new patio looks beautiful and we are enjoying it very much.

These guys are great! Dave and his team have a totally customer focused can-do attitude. I had a room size area in a basement that needed to be filled with concrete, Dave addressed all of my concerns which made me feel very comfortable and the quality of the work was excellent.

Overall my expectation were exceeded.

Dave came out and gave me an estimate. I told him do the the job when he can work it in since it was such a small job and it was during the winter. It was a couple of months and I called him and told him I needed it done becuase I had tenents moving in. He came that Saturday, dug and set forms. He couldn't get concrete on Saturday so he came out on Wednesday and poured. It rained Monday and Tuesday. I went by the job site after I got off work to inspect it. It's turned out great. He forgot to mail me the invoice and called me for payment. He sent the invoice and I sent him a check. It was an easy deal. Dave does great work.

I hired him in April and he came right away to give an estimate, but he didn't do the work until August. I had to have a tree removed and I didn't want the new patio to be ruined by the tree removal. One thing that I really liked about him is that the contract says that you pay 50% up front, but he also adds that you don't pay anything until he actually shows up for the project. He was very easy to talk to and he listened to me while I was deciding exactly what I wanted. He also did a lot of other home repairs for me as well and was priced reasonably. We have a privacy fence that has been there for about 30 years and I told him I wanted to replace it. He let me know that I should keep the and quot;uprightsand quot; in since they are not made the same way anymore. I was thinking plastic, but he recommended a different material. When they came for the project he realized that he needed to replace a lot more, but he stuck with the original quote.

I really liked working with him. He was just a really nice man. He was cost effective and efficient.

Dave and his crew did a great job. Dave is very easy to work with, and very flexible as well. Our front walk was replaced in an aggregate concrete. Dave brought over various samples for me to choose from, and let me take my time in making a decision. The concrete was poured on a hot day, and as such one section set up too quickly and didn't expose correctly. Dave replaced the entire walk at his cost so that it would look right, and match. I can't say enough good things about him and the ethical way in which he treats his customers. I was so pleased with his work that I ended up paying him a little MORE than our agreed upon price (and in fact, he tried to turn down the extra money several times before finally agreeing to accept it). You will not be disappointed with his work... I would highly recommend him.

It was all quick and it turned out perfectly. I would recommend them.

I contacted Dave Twidwell about the middle of July after installing drainage pipes. He came and gave me a bid the next day and explained that due to the extremely hot weather and work load back up it would take about six (6) weeks before being to do the work. I was in no real hurry and agreed to a six (6) week wait. As promised, six (6) weeks later, Dave called and informed me that they would start the job on Thursday, 9/1/11 at 08:00 am. They came on time and completely doug out the area and hauled off all the excavtion, then completely cleaned up the area. The next day 9/2/11, they came back and formed up the area and compacted a gravel base in preparation for the concrete. Dave explained that they would not be able to pour the concrete until the following Tuesday due to the holiday weekend (Labor Day). On Tuesday 9/6/11 they were back and completed the job plus removed all the forms then completely cleaned up again. I would recommend B and D construction to anyone looking to have concrete work done.

Since Dave was working on another project at the time and I knew he did good work, I had him fill a hole with cement under my front porch to prevent rain water from seeping underneath it and he also sealed two cracks on the porch to prevent water from leaking.

Dave came out and quoted the project. Compared to the other quotes from another company, he was asking for far less money. Then he drew up the plans and submitted them for a permit. The first time, the city rejected the permit plans and required modifications to them. Dave then told me he wouldn't charge me for the extra amount that was required to modify the plans which I am thankful for.

He then tore down the old porch, and then poured the concrete. Then the porch was built including a ceiling fan. The project took about a month mainly because of the time for the permit and the constant raining here in St. Louis during May 2011.

He even reseeded part of my lawn around the edges of the porch which is above and beyond what I would have expected.

The porch is solidly built that it's probably more sturdier than my house it's attached to.

I stay in touch with the guy and seek advice when I need it. I will use them again in the future.

I'm not sure they knew what they were doing. The place is still leaking under the carport, even though they came out twice additionally to try to fix it. They told me that once it dried, the filler would turn light. It's still dark and has cracks in it; it's obviously still absorbing water. For the sidewalk they had to come in a second time because what they used to fill it didn't hold up. This all happened in less than a month after they first did the repairs.

The owner, Dave Twidell, came out promptly, did the work himself and made sure that everything looked perfect! In fact, our patio looks brand new. He even powerwashed some brick and siding for free too. Dave really cares about the quality of the jobs he takes on and strives to ensure that all his clients are happy before, during and after a sale. You don't get that with most of the companies out there. When we researched companies to design and install a patio 2 years ago, B+D came not only with the best price, but also provided us the most value for our money. We saved enough back then to even have B+D install a french drain and bury our downspouts too.

I think the price was good. The owner was very nice and so were the workers. They did a nice, neat job. They are precise, the do good cleanup, and they are very conscientious.

The project went very well... Dave from B and D provided a written quote and design drawing prior to doing work... It was completed on time... The crew was very professional... B and D backfilled the area with topsoil where required and finished the concrete to a nice smooth surface...

After three bids (2 Angies List Honor's members and one other) ... we selected Band D (Angies List Honor's) to tear out and replace a couple of sections of our exposed aggregate driveway and walkway (both of which had settled and were pooling water), and also to add a section of driveway to the side of our garage. In addition, we had them remove a dozen rust marks in the aggregage and seal the driveway. Of the 3 bids, they appeared to have the best overall command of all aspects of the work we wanted completed. They were professional and completed the work as specified. We would recommend Band D and going forward we will use them to reseal our driveway twice a year.

We called them the summer of 2010 and told them we were in no hurry. They gave us an estimate of $500. to do the work described above. We didn't hear from them but still were in no hurry. On 10-15-10 Dave called us and said he could do the work at 8:00 am 10-16-10 and would take about two hours. He and his crew arrived promptly at 8:00 am 10-16-10. At about 10:00 am he was finished. We paid him $500. as agreed. He was polite, friendly, gave me some advice for the future about some other concrete work we need and his thoughts about an approximate cost. His crew left no trace of a mess. The repairs to our 60- year old house look as good as new, beautiful, neat, perfect. Their repairs are exactly what we wanted.

They were low bidders on this project. Another company had started the job, but never finished it. (They took my money and ran!) I asked B and D Construction for a bid to finish it. The other bid I received was $3,400.00. They showed up with a crew of three people, did the work professionally, and hauled away all the mess. The job site looked great when they were done. I highly recommend them to anyone needing concrete flat work.

They came out and we discussed what I wanted. The gave a bid of $3250. I agreed to a contract then. They were less than a personal friend was going to charge me. On the scheduled a date (Friday), they came out to break up and remove all old concrete, set all the forms and laid rock. When they were breaking up the old walk, we discovered sewer drain coverd over. Dave and I talked and he said he would insert and pipe with sewer lid at no additional cost. They came back and poured the new concrete on Monday as planned. The job was completed in two business days including all clean-up. The work is great and I'm very pleased. A neighbor looked at the work and had them to pour a new walkway and driveway for him. He is also very pleased.

Excellent job, high quality workmanship, fast friendly service, showed up on time, finished quickly and did a great job at a very reasonable price.
