"It was a real pleasure working with this customer on their front porch, walkway and driveway project, and it is always gratifying to hear how happy and satisfied they are with our work and crew. D&B Concrete is committed to not only meeting, but exceeding our customer's goals and expectations; and when we receive such positive reviews as this, we know we are on the right track. All of us at D&B Concrete thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your experience with us and Angie's List. We greatly appreciate your business!"
My nephew had used D&B Concrete and was satisfied with the work they had done at his home. Dale came out to meet and look at my cracked concrete. he was very nice but did not offer many details as what design he had in mind, just generalities. He took a few measurements and answered all my questions about the concrete product. I had to call days later and ask them to send the proposal. The price was in my budget. They required half of the amount for deposit and I returned the signed contract with the check 09/22/1914. I called to confirm that they had received the check and the signed contract. I had to call again to see if they had an idea when they might do the job as I was going on vacation and the weather was getting colder and I needed to know. The office called on Friday 10/3 to say they were coming maybe on Monday 10/6. I had to scurry around to find someone to disconnect and move my air conditioner and someone to be at my house as I could not get off work with such short notice. They did not call or come on Monday 10/6 but did come on Tuesday but never called. Not knowing when they were going to start the job I did not have anyone there to discuss details. They had not arrived by the time I had to leave for work. Dale called to say they had started the job. I never did get to see or talk to anyone about the final design, or degree of slope of the slab of concrete to inquire about water run off etc.. I would have liked to have seen and talked to someone about the job before, during and/or after the job was finished on 10/15. I am still finding rocks and little waste piles of concrete in the grass as I rake my leaves. It looks fine and I hope it is sloping correctly. I felt they could have communicated the details a little better. They referred me to their Website for questions I had about the care of the new concrete and to call if I had more questions.
Dale's presentation was the most professional of 4 companies we interviewed. His initial bid was on the higher end, but when we approached him, he was willing to reconsider and came back with a competitive quote. We had a chance to see Dale and his crew at work over 2 to 3 work-days, they were friendly, easy to communicate with, professional and hard-working. Dale was thoughtful and meticulous about his work. In the middle of the project, we had to address an unforeseen issue with our municipality as well as working out scheduling conflict with another construction crew. This allowed us to see that D and B is a company that operates with integrity and professionalism. The end product was beautiful. We could not have been more pleased.
It was clear that Dale and his crew care about what they do. Because of their quality of work, integrity, and friendly personality, we can recommend them without any reservation!
The 2nd job he performed went great, too. We had several cracks in our aggregate pool decking that were getting worse every winter. To stop the damage, Dale cut the cracks to make them even, then applied a color caulk to fill the gaps. He brought over a sample board of 12 caulk colors for us to match our decking and let us select the best one. After applying the caulk, he sprinkled sand over the caulk to allow it to blend into our aggregate pool decking much better.
The 3rd job only took Dale a couple of hours. He cut a 12' section of our driveway, buried a drain pipe that he connected to our downspout, filled it gravel, and buried the pipe downhill away from the house. He advised us to let it settle for 30 days before we asphalt over, and cut plywood sections to fit over the gravel so we could drive over them. He made what I thought was a very difficult job look very easy for a minimal charge.
Overall, he did a GREAT job. He was here everyday at 8am and left when he was finished with the job that day. Sometimes, that would be 3pm if the colored stain needed to dry over night. Sometimes, it would be 8pm while he was stripping the existing paint off the porch. He even came up with creative ideas that caused him a lot more work (like painting all the interior grout lines with the color we used for the border to really make the interior pop)! He did not add anything to the bill but it made the finished product look a lot better. He was very easy to work with and my wife and I would recommend him to anyone.
