Country Baked Cake Company

Ordered a birthday cake for my grandson back in Feb. Stayed in constant email contact with the business owner to be sure the order would be on time and correct. Based on pictures shown on the company website, the owner was capable of making 3-D cakes shaped like tractors. I ordered a 3-D John Deere cake to pick up on May 21. Three emails assured me the cake would be complete and ready to go by 9:00 a.m. on the 21st. I arrive at the business around 10:30 a.m. to find a sheet cake with yellow flowers, wavy piping and a hand-drawn flat tractor drawn on the cake. The owner told me the 3-D cake "fell apart" and she made this one to take its place. She stated she did not have a number to contact me to approve the changes to the cake; this is untrue since both phone numbers where I can be reached were on every email she was sent (in addition, her computer was sitting right behind her when I went to pick up the cake, so access to her emails was available). Her response was "sorry, this happened. I have been working on this cake since 6:30 this morning". First, because of the quality of the cake I received, it is inconceivable she had been working on this cake for 4 hours. In addition, if she knew of the screw up at 6:30 this morning, why no phone call? At this point it was too late to order a cake from anywhere else. I was charged $25 for this cake that I likely could have made myself. Previously, I had placed an order with "Country Cakes" only to arrive to pick it up and she had not even started the order! At that time she promised the John Deere cake would be "something special" to make up for the first snafu... it was special alright, but not in a positive way. After paying for the "wrong" cake (since it was too late to reorder from another decorator) I was so distraught I went back in to see the owner. Nothing was offered in the way of refund or recompense. Please, do not count on "Country Baked Cake Company" to fulfill your order in a timely manner or trust them to make the product you ordered OR communicate with you when there is a problem. I will NEVER again use nor recommend "Country Baked Cake Company" in Halfway Missouri.
