We had our floors laced in and refinished on our main floor and overall they look good. There were areas that attention to detail wasn’t the best. We had to ask them to come back to fix a couple of areas and still have a few black hairs in the finish coat on our new floors.

They showed up and finished on time and kept the worksite clean and the floors have been fantastic.

After the initial installment of the unstained oak flooring, numerous blemishes, including deep knotholes, rough edges, and wormholes were found. I counted at least seven deep knotholes. I called Matt, the owner of FPF Flooring, LLC., and mentioned my concern. He assured me the blemishes would be filled with stainable wood filler and the others would clear up with the stain and finish coats. Well, they did not. The filler did not take the stain leaving bright spots scattered over the floors. One major imperfection in the wood was roughly filled in with colored filler, but left rough and coated over. It is right in the middle of the living room floor and quite noticeable. Two rough edges are still rough enough to snag a sock.
Both the install crew and the finish crew seemed always in a hurry. On the last day they left the French doors leading out to the back deck unlocked and ajar. Unfortunately, we were leaving early that morning for the airport. I was able to close the door from the outside, but because the finish was still wet/sticky, I could not lock the door. Our daughter traveled 40 minutes out of her way later that evening after work to lock the door.
I found two brush strands sealed in the finish when we returned home after a 4-day trip. As I stepped onn the transition piece from the living room to the basement stairs I heard a soft crack. Upon inspection I noticed the transition piece extended a full two inches over the first step. The next day I went to a local big box hardware/lumber store and purchased a two-by-two oak board to shape, stain, and install to support the transition piece.
I called Matt to express my concerns, again, about the quality of work and the obvious blemishes in the now finished flooring. I waited two weeks for him to respond hoping he would offer to fix at least some of the major blemishes. We noticed he had cashed our check toward the end of the two week and quot;graceand quot; period. It has now been three weeks and I am writing this review.
Very disappointed in the quality of material used and/or chosen by the install crew. I have to assume they had a selection from which to choose what to lay down. I am very disappointed in the business integrity of Matt not to stand by his workmanship.
In all honesty, I cannot recommend FPF Flooring, LLC. within the Kansas City and surrounding areas.

Matt was responsive and scheduled the work very quickly. The workers were on time and did a good job. The floors look really good. Sanding floors is never a particularly pleasant experience with all the resulting dust but seeing the floors now, it was worth it, I did three coats and the price was reasonable given the work that needed to be done to fill in the damaged wood and make them shine again!

When we bought our house, we knew were were going to have to have the hardwood refinished. The people before us had large dogs and the floors were scratched up pretty bad plus the finish had been worn off across most of the floor. We weren't quite sure on how dark/red we wanted to go but he was very knowledgeable and he also did a sample area to give us an idea on exactly which color we were picking. Chris was very easy to work with and his work is top notch.

He did a great job was very prompt and did as he said he was going to do. We had a recent addition to our house and had hardwood floors installed at that time. He matched the existing floor perfectly. It was a very good experience.

It didn't work out okay. They had some challenges and have to come back to fix some things. They had a new person to do the job and I had to call them back. They came back and fixed it.

Matt Pace bid the job and was able to work in our time constraints. His bid was lower than two other flooring companies. I had used him in the past and knew he did a great job....and he did a great job again. The floors are beautiful and he was able to match them to the existing floors.

They are fabulous. They do top quality work, just immaculate quality work. They had to cut the wood perfectly around my tile and they did it. They did an excellent job. He delivers the wood a week early, lets it sit in your home so that it shrinks to the temperature in your house so there are no cracks in my wood floor. When he was laying the wood floor he took the bottom off my dishwasher and laid it even farther back so when I had to get a new dishwasher it looked great. He worries and thinks of things that you wouldn't.

We have used First Pace three times with different projects. Matt Pace is great to work with.....good at communicating and always does a great job. As a rule, I get three bids. First Pace is the lowest bid....and does first class work.

This was a very very positive experience. First of all I called all of this First Pace Flooring references and almost all were building contractors. Not only did they all (to the man) give a positive reference, but they went on and on and on about what a great job the First Pace does........how this is the only company they use for hardwood floors...etc. Some of these references i had to cut off as they were taking such a long time to tell me about all of the positive experiences they had with First Pace.

On the days that the actual work took place, they showed up on time, the owner worked with the crew...nice guy, knowledgeable and been doing this stuff for years. Everything went unbelievably well. Floors are stunningly beautiful.

Also, as a bonus, their price was very reasonable.....one of the cheaper bids that i received ( i got 5 bids). Usually the least expensive bid (or one of the cheaper bids) doesn't normally translate into the best job.......but this was the exception to the rule. We are going to do one more room in a few months and these are the folks we will use. If you are in the greater Kansas City area..........you can't beat these folks. Some of the other bids i received were astronomically high...and frankly i was a bid worried about the owners. Having done some research, the flooring business has it's share of less than ethical people.

One last thing.....most of the wood guys wanted at least half the money up front, then the remainder after installation (but before floors had been sanded and finished).......in other words, they wanted all of the money before job was done. These guys didn't ask for any money up front, but rather, half after installation and the other half when the job was completely finished. I don't know if this is their regular policy or if they just do it for people that they are confident won't stiff them.......but for whatever reason it gave me a much greater confidence level that they knew what they were doing.

By the way.........I had never met Matt prior to this experience........so he is not a friend of a friend, or family member.......nothing like that. This job was the first time i had ever met the guy.....and he and his crew did a heck of a job.
