employee's were professional and curtious.
BUT the product used to finish our flloors is NOT very durable.
We had our floors for 10 years and the product on it prior to this was at least more durable
than the product used by this company.
"NOT OUR CUSTOMER!!!!"
The installation of a section of new flooring patch in the middle of the floor where the former kitchen sink plumbing was, and two areas next to walls were completed to perfection.
Crisis Management Part I: We discovered a leaking ice maker water line under the fridge just when they were scheduled to come strip and refinish the floors. The crew jumped right onto the repairs and checked to make sure the floor was fully dry before proceeding. We wanted the sanding and stain done before Thanksgiving weekend and they came through!
The sanding process was as dustless as anyone could possibly expect. They did an outstanding job of keeping it to a minimum which made it very very easy live with. The equipment they use really does a nice job of pulling the dust outside and into their truck. For some context, I know that I created more dust in the house when I did a little drywall sanding even though I used a shop vac to contain it as best as I could. I believe that their process creates less or about the same amount of dust as it would to remove and replace with new hardwood simply because tearing out the old stuff would create dust as well. By them having their industrial vacume located OUTSIDE, the dust is managed as best as possible. But don't expect it to be 100% "dust free".
Stain: Their crew really took their time to put a number of different custom mix colors on the floor while we asked them to tint it lighter and darker to coordinate with our new cabinets. We really appreciated their ability to work with us to get just the right color. As you should expect, the stain was quite smelly so we sent the kids to grandpa's for the night and left windows open for 24 hours to air out. You should plan for that when doing a refinish. The water based poly did not smell nearly as bad. We were able to carefully walk (with bare feet or socks) 2-3 hours after the stain, and after the poly coats were applied.
Crisis Management Part II: My child spilled milk and discolored a large newly stained area over the weekend before they were able to get the poly sealer down on it. The crew that came to put the polyurathane down on Monday morning did a great job of matching and blending the custom colored stain in the area. They were then able to go ahead and put down the first 2 coats of poly that day as planned without delaying the job. What a relief!!!!
Flexibility: Since this is a remodel job we were at the mercy of the other contractors (electrical, plumbing, cabinets, etc) to schedule the flooring work after the cabinets, plumbing and electrical were roughed-in. John was fantastic at adjusting SVB's crew schedules to get the job done. Since there was still work to be done with a couple of cabinets and backsplash tile following the first 2 coats of poly, SVB was fine with waiting for all of the other work to be done before returning at a later date to do the final protective coat. This flexibility really helps to make sure the final product is as good as it can be.
Owner tried to tell Angie's list that they never did work for me. However, I have the receipt for the outrageous amount of money they charged me to do such a terrible job.
