Justin can't even read the instructions on the product. A floor with good durability needs either a seal coat plus two finish coats, or three finish coats. I called and talked to the technical support for the product they used (Absco Pro Select Satin). It was confirmed that Justin cut corners. You can see that three coats is the industry standard by doing a quick Google search, or by visiting the National Wood Floor Association website. Yes the floor looks good, but it will not last like it should. I am missing a layer of protection on my floor. I had to get another flooring company come finish the job correctly. Justin wanted to charge me more money to do it right. I already paid more than it should be because he has a minimum charge. I was happy to pay a minimum, but thought I would get a professional job. He told me it would last if I don't wear shoes on my floor or let my dogs walk on it. They certainly won't be doing the floors in my new addition! He also demands payment before the job is complete. The guys weren't even on site and he was there to do a "final" walk thru after the first coat. Best to look elsewhere for your flooring needs
Response from JRK Flooring, LLC
"Client was provided with and signed a contract that clearly explained he was getting 2 coats of Commercial Grade Polyurethane, and that FULL payment was due at the time of the walk through, which is BEFORE the Final coat of finish is applied. All this information was provided to client when he hired JRK Flooring. The owner showed up every day that the crew was working, and yes in fact earlier on both days that the crew worked. Try finding that in a flooring company that the owner is on site daily. We also explained to the client, numerous times. that we had no problem doing a third coat. A third coat is additional work and out of the scope of what the original contact said, so he would be charged. He declined with numerous rude comments. We were notified by our Absco Rep that a client called in and that he would like to talk with the client personally and explain that we were following correct protocol. We provided the client our Absco Rep's direct number, but client declined on calling the Absco Rep. Instead, the client made accusations and rude comments. The client would rather take the advice from a call center technical support person that doesn't even do hardwood floors, than the professional floor company he hired and the Rep of the product the company uses. As far as Justin "recommending" that the client take his shoes off and keep the dogs off the floors, well it was just that, a" recommendation" from someone who is passionate about his business and wants his client's floors to last a lifetime. Is it realistic?? By all means it isn't but when the client asked "how do I make them last a lifetime" Justin told him the truth. It's very disheartening that you are taking to posting multiple online reviews in a malicious attempt to damage our reputation when we went above and beyond to make you happy. Our Rep is still waiting for his call, but it seems all you have time for is writing bad reviews in attempt to harm our business."

I feel sorry for Brock whom is employed at JRK and works for Justin. Brock did an amazing job on the floors. The owner, Justin was very rude and impatient. He acted unprofessional and got angry quickly if a question was asked. He’s impersonal and only cares about getting paid.
Response from JRK Flooring, LLC
"We at JRK Flooring are happy you are pleased with the amazing results of your hardwood floors! But, we are just not sure want you want from us and are disappointed you are taking to posting multiple online reviews in a malicious attempt to damage our reputation. You state the floors are “amazing” and are happy with our employee. Your libelous claims of our boss are without merit. Respectfully, we disagree with your opinions and recall the events and interactions quite differently. Payment terms are clearly stated upfront and included in writing on every estimate, contract and invoice. You were granted a discount before any work began to win your business. We are also disappointed A-List is allowing ‘F’ ratings for price, quality, responsiveness, and punctuality for this review when the customer’s opinion is solely related to Professionalism. A-Listers, If you want to hire a hardwood floor company who is honest, does what they say, returns calls, shows up on time, is respectful of you and your property, keeps you updated of progress, and performs excellent quality work, please research JRK Flooring, consult with us, and contact our dozens of referral customers. We think you’ll see the truth."

What a waste of time it took them 5 days to tell me that they can't give me a quote.
Response from JRK Flooring, LLC
"We turn estimates around within 5 business days and provided the following note to the customer within that time frame. Thank you for the opportunity to provide an estimate for your hardwood floors. After careful and thoughtful consideration, we respectfully withdraw from this opportunity. We pride ourselves on the ability to make customers extremely satisfied with our service and felt we would not be able guarantee your happiness with this hardwood flooring project."

Sanded the floors and they started to crackle. We asked him to repair them and he refused. He said it could not be done, that the finish would be uneven. He left and left us stranded to find another company that did the repair and refinish-which turned out beautifully, To add insult to injury, he asked for more money even though we had already paid for half of the job up front!! He had a very bad attitude and would not work with us.
Response from JRK Flooring, LLC
"A repair would not be satisfactory nor a reflection of the top quality results JRK Flooring is known to provide. In this situation the "crackling" was caused by water damage in the kitchen and the homeowner contacted their insurance company. JRK Flooring also consulted with the insurer on a recommendation of how to remedy. We then waited to commence further work until the homeowner and insurer worked out the details. During follow-up conversations, the homeowner mentioned the insurer agreed with JRK Flooring's recommendation, but she'd rather replace the floor with tile, a service JRK Flooring does not provide. The customer was also going to obtain a second opinion which our company did not object. After not hearing from the customer regarding their decision on path forward as promised, we were left stranded and assumed they were going with the tile option. Thus, a final invoice for services performed was submitted with the appropriate amount credited for work not completed."

He started on Monday and was done by Wednesday. The whole process we were informed and in the loop. We did have him come back out and his customer service was amazing! I would recommend him to anyone who wants their floors refinished.

Justin did an excellent job of sanding and finishing our hardwood flooring. He was able to bring the several different sections of mismatched stains to complete uniformity. We are very pleased with his work!!!

This contractor was hired to do our floors during a multi part renovation. He showed up significantly early for schedule for a very early morning appointment and was angry and belligerent with other contractors in our home. There was apparent miscommunication between contractors regarding pre-work and timelines. Regardless, this should not have happened in front of me as the homeowner nor should I have been the beneficiary of their miscommunication in any way. I asked them to stop the fighting and reminded them that the homeowners are the customers that pay and write reviews. The other contractor was extremely apologetic and seemed caught off guard by the whole confrontation. JRK continued to be forceful in tone and argumentative and accused me of threatening him with my comment about writing reviews.. At this point JRK flooring ordered his team to pack up and leave. He and his team were both verbally and in action very disrespectful and unprofessional. I cannot attest to the work because he did not do it. I also cannot speak to the pricing because our other contractor had negotiated that with him. What I can say is that he had absolutely no empathy for the homeowners partially deconstructed house, the fact that I had one week before company was coming in for our daughters wedding, or any care whatsoever when I indicated that I review contractors. In fact he considered this a threat. He then sent police to our house claiming we had one of his tools to which my husband and I did not have and did not know anything about. Through the police officer he threatened legal action against us over this $17 tool. My husband was going to just give him $17 to get him to go away however he was able to get the contractors to talk and apparently the other contractor had it. Regardless, I do not take kindly to being accused of stealing or having police at my door for things I know nothing about, especially not a $17 tool. When he came out to do the initial bid he seemed detached and certainly not friendly but not rude or angry. When he came to do the job he came off as a loose cannon that is extremely unprofessional at best. One of his team members seemed kind and embarrassed at the lack of professionalism. The other one was rude and disrespectful as well. I don't care how great his work may be. I would never want someone with that type of character working on my home or being paid for services out of my pocket. I am a person that believes you do right by others and strive to make the world a better place. People matter. In this man's world people come secondary to time and money. I would not trust this company to stand behind what they do or be customer focused in any way. We quickly found another company that felt horrible about how we were treated. They gave us a bid the same day and started work the next day. They did a great job, with better products than we were going to get from JRK for a great price. I will never settle for bad service again. In fact, the experience with this contractor is what motivated me to join Angie's List so that I will hopefully never get another bad contractor again.
Response from JRK Flooring, LLC
"JRK Flooring arrived at the job site as arranged with the home's contractor, on time, and the home was not prepared to have the floors refinished as directed. All communication beforehand was done with the contractor (confirmed dates and times), as is extremely common. The rooms to be worked in had obstructions and our crew waited a significant amount of time for the occupants to remove them, which did not get completed. During the wait, threats were made against our business, and after being called a vulgar name, the owner made the decision to remove the crew from the property. JRK Flooring values honest and fair feedback. It is unfortunate the contractor and his client had miscommunication regarding the time and preparedness of the home."

Justin was very professional to deal with. He quoted a good price and explained exactly what they would do and what we should expect. He refinished our floors while we were gone on vacation. We were very happy to come home and find the beautiful floors he promised. Thanks Justin!

I was ready to get rid of the carpet in my 15-year old home and upgrade to hardwood.  JRK  Flooring installed new hardwood in the living area and hallway.  The stairs were also carpeted so I hired them to replace those as well.  Justin was very knowledgeable and educated me on the entire process.  I had no idea the work on the stairs were such a detailed process and much of it had to be performed by hand.  This was a job I was glad to leave to the professionals!  I'm a so thrilled with the outcome - the quality of work from Justin and his crew was amazing.  I'm certain the value of my home just spiked.  They worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and even wiped down the walls and ceiling fan blades when they were done!  I can't speak highly enough of these guys.  Two thumbs way up!

The entire process took 3 days. The first day, Justin and his helper worked all day and into the evening installing the hardwood. We specifically wanted the rustic look and asked Justin to avoid filling any holes natural to the wood. Because they were working with reclaimed wood of shorter boards (the longest board was about 16 inches), Justin was patient and took great care in handling our hardwoods. On the second day, Justin pulled out all of his impressive sanding equipment – a big sanding machine, a smaller edging machine, a remarkably sized vacuum, a buffer, and various hand scraping tools. He worked hard and steady much of the day to get all of the stubborn shellac finish removed. By early evening, he was ready to give us options of stain color. After he showed us what the floor would look like with just polyurethane finish, we didn’t even want to see any stain choices because it looked awesome. He then worked through the night preparing the floor and applied the first coat of finish. On the third day, the final coat of finish was applied.

We couldn’t be happier with the work of JRK Flooring. He educated us on the entire process, was very careful with our reclaimed wood, took time to answer our questions, and made sure we were happy with his work. By far, the best company we’ve ever hired to work on our house. Money well spent. JRK Flooring comes highly recommended from us!

They were booked out, so we scheduled a couple months out. A week prior to scheduled start date, Jason called to confirm. He and his helper showed up right on time, Monday morning, 10/15/2012. Tuesday, his helper quit on him and he pretty much did the whole job on his own from that point although he did have a new helper on Friday. He specializes in wood finishes (not wood working) so he also had a finish carpenter do the trim pieces as described above. Also excellent.
He works hard and steady, has great equipment, and he cares about his work. He cleaned up each night as well, which was appreciated since we were tracking through as long as we could before the finish began to be applied.
Monday and Tuesday were sanding and scraping, down to the bare wood. Wednesday was first coat. I wanted three coats of semi gloss poly, so they were Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Saturday we walked on the floor and Sunday we began to move furniture back in place. We replaced the Golden Oak stain with clear poly, and it is lovely. There was extensive water damage and discoloration thanks to the previous owners, and the cupped floors look very nice -- this floor could not look better than it does right now!
I was asked to pay half at the start of the job and the other half prior to the final coat of finish. Jason came back to put the last trim piece up several days later just as he promised (a schedule mix up due to material error and not in any way his fault), and he did a wonderful job of finishing it up. The whole job took one extra day due to the fact that he was alone when his employee bailed . He worked extra long and hard and almost completely made up for the delay.
I would not hire anyone else to work on wood floors for me, and I guess I am grateful to all the guys I called who never even showed up ....

Justin came over to give us an estimate, his estimate seemed a little more expensive than others I received, however I got the impression that he took pride in his work and it would be done right. I'm glad to report that my intuition was correct, Justin took his time to do it right, there where a few problem areas on the floor that he took extra time to fill and get just right. He also took great care in explaining the process and not only telling my what he was going to do but more importantly and quot;Whyand quot;.

Justin was on time, finished within the promised time-frame and on budget. Since redoing the floors we received many compliments and we love it. We have now sold the home and the finished floors turned out to be a great selling point, helping us sell the home more quickly and closer to our asking price.

My only complaint is that I wish he would have done a better job keeping the dust from getting everywhere, but there is only so much he can do when redoing and sanding the floors in the entire home.

Justin from JRK Flooring was by far the best estimate we received. He showed up the same day I called, he explained in detail what he could offer and he made very helpful suggestions as to how we could accomplish what we were wanting. I called 4 other companies... 2 never showed, 1 came and took measurements but then never heard from again, the 4th sent out a helper to take measurements only, and then waited 2 weeks to call me with his estimate and had many of the details wrong as to what I was even wanting done.

JRK's estimate was a little bit more then the other one estimate that I received but, as they say, and quot;you get what you pay forand quot;. It was a and quot;no brainerand quot; in my opinion as to which company I was going to choose.

The Job was done exactly how Justin had explained to me it would be. He consulted with me several times over the 4 days to ask how I wanted this or that. In the end it was done exactly how me and my wife wanted it and it was Beautiful.
I would HIGHLY recommend Justin and his JRK Flooring crew, they were a good group of honest, hard working guys.

Thanks
