These guys were great! This project took a while to complete because of weather & tedious nature of having to cut each piece to fit but these guys were good. Kenny, I believe was his name, was foreman and he took every step possible make sure it was done correctly. We had some super hot days to be working on a hot roof but they did it! Any concerns we might of had, they took the time to answer questions and make sure we were happy. The roof turned out beautiful and we get a lot of compliments on it. They are a family owned company with their own employees and take pride in their work. I would not hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to anyone.

I was looking for a reliable roofer in a rural community (Ste. Genevieve, MO) especially after watching the fiasco with my neighbor last summer. So I used referral services to locate a reliable roofer. Using a couple (not Angie's) of services I found most recommended roofers had the same pattern...from no ratings to maybe two and on occasion 4 review, but in all cases no more than that even if the "roofer" had been in business a couple of decades. That did not give me the warm and fuzzies. So I came across Melvin Mills Roofing on Angie and they had a ton of ratings (all related to roofing unlike some of the other services) and they had been in business decades. So I contacted them and Melvin who is older now and does mostly estimates came out and talked to us about roofs. We wanted a roof which would last a long time so we ordered the shingle, termed architecture, and upgraded to the best looking one. I wanted information on the company before I signed so I asked for evidence they had workman's comp insurance as well as general liability insurance. They even provided a guarantee on their workmanship. I was so pleased with the work this company did and the headaches we avoided because I chose a reliable company. The price, for what I thought was top of the line shingles was far less that I had expected. When it came time to do the work, Melvin's son, Craig, came out to oversee the start and we discussed roofing details. The guys all worked hard, took a couple of 15 minute breaks for the day. They started shortly after 7am and were totally finished by 3pm. I forgot to count but there were about 8 of them and all were trained by the company and had been together for some time. They do not swear, do not play loud music. The cigarettes they smoked were picked up afterward. They picked up all material that wasn't supposed to be there as a result of the roofing, plus they went around with magnets (a roller type and by hand) to catch any nails they may not have seen with the eye. So all around, because the company was on Angie's list and had a lot of excellent reviews, I am happy to say I will continue to use Angie for all projects going forward. This was a great experience for my wife and myself.

They were very professional. They were prompt coming out and giving me an estimate. I hired them the day they came out. They told me they would be out between 5:00 and 5:30 on Thursday morning and they came at 5:15 and they were done by 2:30 that afternoon. I found them on Angie's List and I was kind of reluctant about them because they are about 70 miles away from me. The owner came out, a man 78 years old, very professional. He even climbed up on my roof. I had satellite dishes on my roof, when they put the roof on, they had to put them back on there. I had them removed, and put on the ground. The owner of the company came back out, you know he's 78 years old, he had 10 shingles on his shoulder and hammer and everything, and he climbed up the ladder and got up on my roof and fixed it; and it was very hot out.

Well the first time I called for an appointment I was told they would have someone out on Friday at 2. Well 2:30 arrived and still no one so I called and I was told sorry they forgot to put me on the schedule. Not happy, but mistakes happen. So fine, rearrange my entire day Monday and they reschedule for 1:00 Monday. Well, 1:00 comes and goes sand finally about 1:20 I call and am told their guy was injured over the weekend and wold not be doing anything today and could they cal me tomorrow and see when they can get him out. That is not going to work, so I guess I am back to looking for someone else to come out. I was told they were in the process of rescheduling everything he was supposed to do that day, but I am kind of confused, how can one man have so much work that a customer who has an appointment at 1:00, cannot receive a phone call well before that to let them know what occurred. Clearly my business is not needed.

Excellent job done quickly and efficiently. Cleaned up completely. Good people - Melvin and his staff answered all of our questions and gave us an accurate no pressure estimate with 30 days to decide.

We talked to him and he was very professional. We received a written bid in the mail. We're not going to use him but he seemed like a really nice guy. He seemed very professional by sending us the written bid having all the information on what he was bidding on. We haven't had the roof replaced. He was higher than some of the other people that we got here. We don't think we're going to use him because he's higher. He called when he wanted to show up. He told us when he was going to show up to do the estimate.

Obtained their card at a home show; we needed a new roof. Tree in our yard fell on our deck and roof; called Melvin Mills for estimate. One of owners came to our house, worked with us and insurance adjuster to satisfaction of all. wonderfully kind people, workers extremely polite and considerate. We recommend them if you want excellent service from a top quality professional company. *That is an only an estimate of the cost which included repairs and part of the new roof and guttering which the insurance payout covered.

All contact with Melvin Mills Roofing was professional and courteous. I first received an estimate back in October 2013.  In December 2013 we were ready, but of course, the weather did not cooperate. There were several times from December to when we finally had the roof installed, that Melvin Mills tried, but again the weather did not cooperate.  At the very beginning Melvin Mills and Craig Mills were courteous and professional.  At no point did I ever think that Melvin Mills Roofing would not perform up to expectations.  A + for professionalism. Love the new roof! I would definitely recommend Melvin Mills Roofing and would use them again.  I need my roof on the garage done and when I am ready I will call Melvin Mills Roofing.

They were scheduled and had to put if off till October.  Which was fine but getting them to let me know was the only problem.  I worked with Melvin and he was very good at helping me decide what needed to be done and picking out the new materials.  They almost completed it in one day but needed to stop due to rain.  They came back and finished the next day.  I have a rain sensor for sprinkler system attached to my roof and it was broken off and they checked it out and said they would replace it in the spring after speaking with the company that put in the sprinkler system.  Mr Melvin Mills also checked out a question I had with no problems.  The only thing is I am still waiting on my warranty and have called many times and left messages which don't get returned.  I did finally get a return call last week and they said it had been mailed.  I have never received it and Craig said he would send another.  As of now I still do not have it.  I would definitely recommend them as they as efficient at getting the job done and I do realize that they were held back because of lots of rain but a phone call letting me know they would not get to it till October would have been nice.  That is the only fault I can find is the response to returning phone calls is very bad.

Well for the most part.  Satisfied with the finished product; a couple of small hick-ups along the way.  They were taken care of.  Good hard working crew.

i asked him how much i owed.  he stated that nothiing unless it was fixed.  he told me to let him know the next rain, but probably there would be no charge.  i was simply amazed.  there are honest people in this world.  i hight recomment this company.

Mr. Mills was very good at estimating and explaining the costs involved in the removal and replacement of our back flat roof.  He told us the amount in advance that the removal would cost if there were more layers that he couldn't initially see.  They were punctual and worked hard.  They left an area incomplete for the next day, but the weather changed drastically.  I heard noise outside about 9 pm and went out to see what was going on.  Here they were going up on the roof to make sure they completed that section before the rain came.
The only thing I have as a negative is that they initially were hard to get hold of.  It was at least two weeks from the first time I called them until someone finally responded.  They are a smaller company and explained that they were sorry it took so long, but that they were out working and didn't get back to me as fast as they should have.  Since then, if I had a question about something, they were very good about getting back to me.
Other than that, they were very professional, knew what they were doing and did it well.  They cleaned up the area below the roof and cleaned off my driveway when they were finished.
