Provider did not keep appointments. There are no details

The service went very well. My only complaint is that they sub contracted for the labor. The designer was very well qualified for the simple task we needed.

Nothing to say since there was no work done.

Not creative at all with designs to accomplish our goal. Not very knowledgable. Basically, too young and not a great customer service or business aptitude, decided not to use. Promptly gave us estimates.

They came out to give me a consultation twice. The first time they came, we never received a plan or an estimate for the work we wanted done. We had to call to follow up on the situation. The owner then came out several months later and met with me and my wife. We went over everything again and we never got anything back the second time as well.

We got called by the company, and I believe it was the owner that came out, and he was 15 minutes early and he kept calling me and calling me finding out where I was. I said I'm going to be on time for the appointment. When I got there he was super rushed. He wasn't very personable. He looked in the back yard and said, "Well we can just recreate this." I said, "Here are the things we would like to do." He then said, "Well we could fix this up and we could fix that." He basically told me we could re-do what we already had back there. He said, "I'll draw it up and I'll get it to you and we can talk about next steps," and he took a couple of pictures. He was there maybe 10 minutes if that and then never heard from him again. We tried to email, follow up, call and got nothing. I think honestly they didn't realize how many takers they might get on something like that and they probably were not prepared to deal with it.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. The gentleman was very nice, easy to talk with and did give us a mockup of what he had in mind to do for the retaining wall. However we never got a bid so called him back and asked him again. He thought he had sent it, but we have not received it yet so I am not sure what is going on there. He was busy with the project he was in at first, but then I am not sure what happened after that. I think he probably does very good work, but he did not get the information to us. He did come over and look at the space where we wanted the wall built. We talked and he seemed like he would be somebody who we would maybe want to work with, but we never got an estimate.

Seemed frazled and not ready to do business --this was over several weeks of delays. --He was too come out and provide a landscape drawing with a quote for the work. Never showed up

Never came back to follow up with the estimate.

No, he would not follow up once I called to ask for more work. I emailed several times.

We really only ended up using them for consultation and they we did not follow through. It was nothing to do with service; it was just simply at the time what we were looking at doing we weren't prepared for it yet. They just came out and gave us a quote. The one thing that I would point out is in this line of business he was very much a visionary, we didn’t have to do a lot of explanation on stuff, he was really kind of giving us ideas on things we hadn't even considered.

It went very well, he was very informative and thorough.

The gentleman arrived close to on time, he and my husband and I discussed what we wanted done. He took a few pictures and WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.... that was a year ago.

Everything was satisfactory and the work went well. There were no issues.

Ken Hauk told us they were swamped and they were running behind in getting the estimate together. He came out and made some suggestions as to what would work for what we were wanting and said he would be getting us the estimate as soon as he could. Two weeks later he called me with the price. I wasn't able to spend time on the phone because I was extremely busy, but I did tell him that the price was in line with what we thought was fair and I wanted the estimate written up and sent to me before I would give the go ahead. More then two weeks passed and when I called they still haddn't gotten around to writting the estimate up. I cancelled the work at this time and told Mr. Hauk that I felt that more then one month was too long to get the estimate. I had a crew coming in to do work on drainage in the yard and felt that Ken Hauk's company would be holding them up. Mr. Hauk was nice and did apoloize for taking so long, but I was afraid of using his company at this time. I will say that there are a lot of companies out there that would come out and give me the same advice just for the chance to get my business and not charge me anything. The only thing I would have gained a savings of $250. off of the total of my bill for the $50. I spent. I did feel that the $50. was wasted. I am not sure what the total of his estimate was but believe it was $2500. or more. If you are not in a hurry to get things done, they might be ok, but just because of the time to get an estimate, and the fact that I wasn't offered my $50. back, I would not do business with this company in the future.

The original company pass it to another company they came out and it as a very long time before we heard from them again. they sent us an email with pictures of what was to be done and we were shocked at the cost. we did not go with them bcause of cost and what was to be done was not worth it.

They never did any work.

Kevin was a very pleasant and upbeat person. Very easy to work with and helped me with options that I hadn't thought of and was very accommodating with changes to the design. The "conceptual" drawings were beautiful and I can't wait to have the work done. Unfortunately due to life events, the work had to be put on hold until next spring. I'm still looking forward to working with Kevin and finally (after nearly 10 years) have a landscaped front yard. Once the work happens, I will come back and add the review of the actual work completed.. The only reason that I gave a "B" for price is because I believe it was a good price for the work listed, however since I do not have other quotes to compare it to, I can't say it is and "Excellent" price.

They never returned our request for a bid to do the job.

This is not worth the time. I will not use Angie's List again.

Needed ideas on how to make the back yard more functional.

I called after I bought the Big Deal and I told him I wanted him to come out to design the front and back yard of my new home. I told him we would need to wait until the house was done, but he would need to come at that time. I called him on August 2 because we were almost ready. I called again on Sept 10 when we were ready and got his voice mail I called on September 13 because we had yet to receive an answer and his voice mail was full I called on September 14 and he said he was out in the field and he would call to set up an appointment. He never did. On September 24 I called to ask if he wanted the job or if I could have my $50 back. His voice mail box keeps getting filled up and he is either away from the phone or on the road. He never calls me back. He is very unresponsive.

We called the number, left info for a return call. No response. After the third time we stopped calling and figured we were out 50$.

So I feel obligated to state my experience. I like all of you, saw the Big Deal for $50 and said "Wow" what a steal. I bought the Big Deal and started calling with little luck. However, one morning I called and got Ken the owner. He was very polite and told me he was overwhelmed with the response from Angie's list. Promised to come out one morning but didn't show due to rain. I called and he explained that he was finishing another job and had to complete before the rain washed him out. He also explained that due to the extreme high volume of calls coming in he was transferring some of his work to another landscape company to help in his work load and responsiveness. I feel bad for this Contractor. I believe Angie's list set him up to fail. True he could be more responsive in explaining his situation but as I understand it he doesn't see a dime of the $50 you paid for your Big Deal. Angie's List collects that as an advertizing or finders fee. So all the work Ken did (which everyone is complaining he didn't do) was done for free. I called Angie's List and got my $ back. I hold both Earthscape and Angie's List responsible for this Big Deal gone bad. The company only had 1 report when Angie's List contacted them for the Big Deal and it was an A rated report. I believe this gentleman was setup to fail by Angie's List and he continues to get bad reviews for it. Those that have posted bad reviews because someone came out took a picture and never got back to you. Verify your facts, was it Earthscape that showed up or was it the other company on behalf of Earthscape? I tried working with the other company and they were not very responsive. After many calls they did show up and take pictures. Aside from not being able to honor my Big Deal the interaction I had with Ken the owner of Earthscape was pleasant. Read this review as you wish but I think Angie's List has destroyed this man's business and he never saw it coming. He tried to keep up and even gave business away to another company to meet the demands. How could his business ever survive giving away landscape design and $250 worth of plants for $50 of which he never saw a dime? I would give Earthscape another chance once Angie's List was done with him. He has been in business for 20+ years has an A+ rating with the BBB and from what I can see on BBB's site has never had a complaint filed against him. So yes I would give him another chance to earn my business.
