They’re really not good. Check out Google and Yelp reviews as well; they barely break "poor." I’ve used them multiple times. They overcharge for the parts and labor, damaged cabinetry (I repaired), didn’t fix the problem after three visits and still charge you for it all. The owner is uncooperative, putting the burden back on the manufacturer. For example, my fridge still goes out sporadically because of a bad R&R board and the fridge doors are still out of alignment after tech fudged with the door height when servicing the first time. He never corrected this (apparently forgot) but St. Louis Appliance Repair still wants me to pay another service call of $98 just to come out and "assess" the situation. I would've replaced this fridge long ago except for the fact it has custom doors and it would be hard to replicate. I'm a longtime corporate executive and senior management consultant, so it's not about the money to me. It's the ethics. These guys should be de-authorized by Whirlpool, as I've suggested to them. Pretty unbelievably bad customer service. It's about the money. Not your satisfaction..

Dacor ovens don't have a great reputation. The technician repaired an oven glass that had shattered on the first self cleaning. He was extremely careful during the disassembly to avoid glass shards on the kitchen floor. He also  recalibrated the oven temperature control. I was very impressed with the service. I wouldn't hesitate to use the firm again. They confirm a two hour delivery window the day before service and call when the technician is on the way to your home.

We had a Kitchen Aid french door refrigerator that was less than 10 years old.  The ice maker stopped working and neither the refrigerator nor freezer would cool so we called St. Louis Appliance Repair Group to repair it.  We waited several days for them to come to our home to make the repair. They told us they would arrive between 3 and 5 pm.  They did not arrive until after 5 pm. After examining the refrigerator,  they told us that it wasbut a control panel that was the source of  the problem.  They advised that the control panel was not available any longer and we would need to have  the control panel rebuilt to get the refrigerator to cool.  They said that it was approximately $300 to rebuild the control panel. We discussed with the repairman the likelihood that this diagnosis was accurate and that the rebuilt control panel would fix the refrigerator.  He told us that he was confident, if not certain, that his diagnosis and prescribed repair was correct.  We trusted him and agreed to spend an additional $300 to have the control panel rebuilt, in addition to the approximately $200 they charged for the service call.  Two weeks later when the rebuilt control panel was installed by this company, they showed up without calling to inform us they were on their way, as they had promised.  After installing the rebuilt control panel, the refrigerator and freezer still did not cool at all and the ice maker did not work. They then told us we would have to replace another part at a cost of $200-$300 if we wanted to have the refrigerator work again.
We called the owner and left a message to review the issue and talk through the problem, but he was unavailable to speak with us and we left a message, however, he never returned our phone call.
We grade them D on price because we received no value for the $500  we paid this company.
We grade them F on quality because their diagnosis and repair were poor and completely inaccurate.
We grade them F on responsiveness because the owner failed to return our phone call and they did not appear at the time promised, and did not call in advance of coming to install the control panel. For the same reasons we grade them D on punctuality.
We grade them F on professionalism because they were completely inaccurate in their diagnosis and the owner's failure to return our phone call is a genuine indicator of a lack of professionalism.

Bob came to our home to figure out what was causing our Whirlpool front loading washer to show error codes and quot;sudand quot; and and quot;F35and quot; when I'd try to do a load of wash. Bob is VERY knowledgeable, and did a diagnostic test of our machine and figured out what the problem was. We happened to have the new part that was needed (because our daughter-in-law recently had the same problem with their machine and ordered an extra part in case she needed it again), and Bob did not hesitate to use our part which saved us quite a bit of money. He put the new part in and the machine is running great now. I would not hesitate to use this company again as Bob fixed the problem right away and he was very professional and knowledgeable.

.The repairman, Mark, was courteous and very professional. He arrived promptly, determined the problem, gave me an estimate, and set up an appointment to install the new burner.
While the repairman and the repair itself was great, the cost was steep. Of the $272 price tag, $212 of that was labor. I didn't want to make a mistake with a gas appliance, and the work done was excellent, it's still very expensive. (The cost of a comparable, new cooktop would have been over $1500 (without installation), so I bit the bullet.

When it comes to Subzero service, you really don't have a lot of options in St. Louis. As far as I know, there are only a couple of certified repair places in town who will submit warranty work to Subzero. The repairs went well. St. Louis Appliance Repair has been to our home several times to fix this particular refrigerator. Ask for Ricky. He's the best and most knowledgeable.

Jim, a technician for St. Louis Appliance Repair Group, came to my house to inspect my four-year-old Sub-Zero wine refrigerator and help me figure out why only one of the two zones was cooling properly. After a fairly quick inspection of the unit, he told me that I needed a new compressor as well as new upper and lower evaporators. Additionally, he said that it would be a two-man job because the unit needed to be pulled out from the wall where it was installed. I asked him if the entire repair would require two people -- he admitted that it would not but said I would be charged for two repairmen for the estimated 5-hour job. I asked him about the warranty for the unit, which was only four years old (which he confirmed by looking up the unit's serial number), and he said that Sub-Zero had a 12-year warranty, but that it only covered parts and not labor. The labor, he estimated, would cost $1700 for two men for five hours. I was shocked and said I could almost buy a new unit for that price; he told me that they essentially needed to rebuild the entire unit except the shell. I told him I was going to wait and think about it, and he billed me the standard $90 fee for the diagnostic service visit.

I then called Appliance Solutions, the other company in St. Louis authorized by Sub-Zero to do warranty work, to get a second opinion. Their technician spent considerably more time inspecting the refrigerator than the man from St. Louis Appliance Repair, and after an hour he said that the evaporators and compressors were fine. He said that the problem was with a different component of the unit and that fixing it would be a one-man, 90-minute job (not a two-man, 5-hour job). What really amazed me, though, was that he confirmed that the Sub-Zero warranty covers parts for 12 years, but he said that it also covers parts AND LABOR for the first five years! In other words, the entire repair, including parts and labor, would be covered under warranty! In fact, even the diagnostic visit that day was covered by the warranty -- I would not have to pay a thing. I told him to order the necessary part, which he returned to install two weeks later, and now my refrigerator works perfectly.

St. Louis Appliance Repair Group COMPLETELY misdiagnosed the problem with my refrigerator, and not by a small amount. They wanted to charge me $1700 for a completely unnecessary repair -- after which I still would have been left with a broken refrigerator. But what I find completely unacceptable is that a company authorized by Sub-Zero to perform repairs does not even understand how the Sub-Zero warranty works! Even if they had correctly diagnosed the problem with my unit, there should have been no charge to me (including the diagnostic visit) because the unit was still under a parts and labor warranty, being less than five years old.

After my refrigerator was fixed by Appliance Solutions, I called St. Louis Appliance Repair Group and asked to speak with a manager about getting a refund for the diagnostic fee that should not have been charged to me, and the woman who answered the phone asked me to tell her my story. I did, and also told her that the Sub-Zero website has a clear description of its warranty, including the fact that units less than five years old were covered for parts AND LABOR, and she told me that I was wrong and that I must have looked at the wrong web site. (Right... Sub-Zero probably has many different official web sites.) So I called Sub-Zero directly, and they confirmed for me that the unit was covered for parts AND LABOR for the first five years, and that St. Louis Appliance Repair should NOT have charged me, even for the diagnostics visit. She said she would call St. Louis Appliance Repair to clarify to them how the Sub-Zero warranty works. I called St. Louis Appliance Repair back to inform them of this, and this time the woman I spoke with was very snippy and demanded to know the name of the Sub-Zero representative with whom I spoke (like I would have made it up!). I told her I wanted a manager to call me back, and I am still waiting to hear from one.

In summary, not only did St. Louis Appliance Repair Group try to charge me $1700 for a repair that should have been covered by a parts and labor warranty, they were going to charge me that amount to fix the WRONG THING! And they improperly charged me a $90 diagnostics fee that ALSO should have been covered by warranty. The office staff was argumentative and would not believe me when I told them that the Sub-Zero warranty covered parts and labor for five years.

Update 6/25/12: I received a refund check for the diagnostics fee I was charged.

An original piece of the eight-year old stove had finally broken. Upon replacing it, the repairman found a larger problem in a different part of the oven. He offered to repair the piece for a new part. I compared the price he gave me to what I would need to pay online; the repairman's offer was about four times the price of the piece online. Upon telling him about it, he decided to give me a discount, which made the piece only about twice as expensive as it was online. I accepted this arrangement, as it meant that he would get the missing piece within a couple of days. Once the pice was procured, the rest of the repair proceeded without the glitch and the stove/oven has been working very well. But for the surprise pricing system, I would award this business full grades.

I had St. Louis Appliance repair out to repair our leaking Frigidaire ice maker. I paid $90 for a service call to have them check the refrigerator and estimate the repair. They gave me an estimate of $180 to replace the filter and head unit. I agreed and they ordered the part. They called a few days later to schedule the repair once the part arrived and completed the repair. Their repair lasted about two weeks and the fridge was leaking again in exactly the same place. They came back out and fixed it again after a phone call and told me the water pressure in my house was to much for the fridge and the solution was to turn down the pressure using the shutoff valve in the basement that feeds the ice maker. I helped the technician turn down the pressure to a trickle that barely filled up a glass from the water dispenser. It started leaking again after two days. Eventually I was told that I needed to call Frigidaire to have them replace the defective parts. I called Frigidaire and they told me it was the responsibility of the repair company to warranty their work. So in the end I paid almost $300 for St. Louis Appliance repair to fix my still leaking ice maker. The whole experience was a waste of time and money and my fridge still leaks.
