Wes Stegmann Painting and Contracting

The remodel started off well, we agreed on a price and he stated it would take 4-5 weeks to complete.  At the start, there were like 4-5 men working on the remodel/demo, however after a couple weeks it ended up dwindling down to just one man.  He kept stalling on when the completion date would be.  We only had one shower in the house and that was one of the first things he demoed but  he stated  would focus on completing that project first because we had to stay in a hotel without having the shower.  Two months went by and it didn't get finished.  He continued to stall on the completion date and  knew that we were staying in a hotel.  He also continued to demand payment on a weekly basis, which was part of the agreement, but the agreement also was that the project would be completed in 4-5 weeks.  He would consistently make promises that he could not keep.  This went on through the middle of December when he stopped coming.  Throughout the course of the remodel, my wife or i would ask for additional things to be done and he would do them without consulting with us on a cost.  We had stated that we didn't like the current bath tub and mentioned that we were interested in a cast iron tub and requested a price on how much it would cost.  We came home one day and he had removed our existing tub.  This was done without my approval or an estimate.  Another thing, he removed/replaced our tile on our kitchen floor and did not install per manufacturer's recommendation.  Lastly, one of his crew member's was arrested in my neighborhood.  I was left with an unfinished kitchen and both bathrooms.

This project was a disaster. Wes bid on a project to complete a high end home theatre in our basement.  Shortly after starting work on the project, he demanded more money stating that it was more complicated than he had initially thought .  We were paying for all of the materials ourselves so his bid was for labor only.  He behaved completely unprofessionally. He would leave the work site and not return for weeks, demanding more money. After this occurred several times and 5 months without much progress, we fired him. We went on to hire a real professional who completed the project promptly and on budget.

I have nothing good to say about him.  He did not complete the project as he quoted it and he took money for a job that he did not finish.  We parted ways and I had to have someone else come and complete the job.  The quality of his work was poor and he wasn?t honest with his dealings.  Two weeks before the job was supposed to be finished, he came and told me that he would need $15,000 more or he would not continue working.  He did about half of the job but accepted all of the money.

Wes and his team (especially Tony) are easy to work with, we had an aging family room with old carpeting, an ugly 70's built in and brick fireplace which was very much in need of an upgrade. We came in and provided both great ideas as well as a reasonable price for the work. Once we agreed on a quote, his team came in and started right away. At one point during the work our street was being repaired but his team kept on working hauling their gear a good distance to our home. The were generally very good at keeping us on track and ensuring we completed things in an orderly fashion although at times, phone tag and scheduling misunderstandings seemed to create a few hiccups which I guess is to be expected with a project of this size. Our price grew a little from the original estimate but that was no fault of Wes, rather as his team worked, we kept coming up with new ideas and adding small tasks which Wes was happy to oblige. We are very happy with our new floor and other improvements. I will say that Wes and his team do much more than just Painting (in fact, for this job we did the painting ourselves).

I dont remember the cost, but it was reasonable. They are great problem solvers; they are ingenious. We have already scheduled them to do more work for us.

We have a lot of work still going, but are most impressed. His team is painting a living room kitchen, built ins, windows, etc.

I hired Wes on the recommendation of a friend who has hired him many times and always been very satisfied with his work. I had several small projects to do in my 60-year-old ranch to get it ready for sale. I gave Wes a call; he came over the next day and looked over my list and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work. I especially appreciate his patience and frankness - I felt that he really listened to me and was able to give me advice about where best to spend my money to make the house more appealing to buyers. He and his crew always arrived on time and they finished the job in the time frame he had given me - very important to me, as I now live 300 miles away and have to arrange special trips to have work done on the house. I am very pleased with the crew's workmanship as well.

Wes Stegmann is wonderful to work with. I have had him do several projects on my home - interior and exterior and would not hesitate to hire him again. The paint is exactly the color requested. The stain matches perfectly on all of my other interior woodwork. I couldn't be happier with the work.
