They did a great job. There was a slight incident with one of my bookcases, but they let me know right away and helped me fill out a claim form. They protected my floors and walls, and were so efficient! We were so happy.

They packed our belongings up in January and stored them until we bought another home in the new location. After closing on the house they brought our things in two loads, one load within a week of closing and another load a week after that. The people who did the work on both ends were great. The estimate was clear and accurate. One coffee table had slight damage which was pointed out to us immediately upon unloading. One small bowl and a saucer broke, but I packed them. All in all, it was a great experience. We would hire them again without hesitation.

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!! EXCELLENT!!! If you are ever in need of moving services, I would definitely recommend Fry-Wagner Moving and Storage. As an agent for United Van Lines, I have nothing but VERY POSITIVE COMMENTS to make about this company. From the time we requested the initial quote to completing the move, the staff were VERY PROFESSIONAL!! In addition, I have to especially commend Larry, the supervisor for this move. We had additional items that we needed to ship (after the movers had emptied our house), and he agreed to meet us to add the items to the truck!! In addition, the movers that he used in Las Vegas to unload the truck were also SUPERIOR!! In addition, we received a refund when the actual cost of the move was less than the amount that we were quoted. Therefore, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Fry-Wagner for any of your moving needs!!! :-)

I had only one problem with the move. I have a cocktail table in my living room that has a 2 inch thick glass top to it that got broken not when they were moving it, but when they brought it back to the house, and they tried to put it back together. They were clumsy with it. Luckily we had a lot of work done in the house, and we could tell them where to get glass cut for us. That was nice, because even though we had insurance on everything that was moved, but because it wasn't that great an amount of money, they didn't go through insurance, and worked it out locally. I have used them since I moved down to this area 35 years ago. I used them when I moved into my first house, then again when I moved into this house, then again when I brought furniture from my parents house, and I will probably use them again to use furniture down from my parents house.

We used the people down in Springfield. We first used them 35 years ago, then we last used them 5 years ago, and I will use them again soon. Everything went perfectly fine. 2 people came to move it. I like the way that they came out early morning, got the furniture on the truck, and it was down here by noon, and by 2 in the afternoon, it was in it's place in our house. They put the furniture where we wanted it. The weight of the furniture my father made for us has always been such that we pretty much have to have someone move in. It was our bedroom furniture and it is all clear made oak. There are 5 pieces to it. There is the headboard, a woman's dresser that runs horizontally, and a mans dresser that runs vertically, and two side drawers.

I chose Fry-Wagner thinking I was going to get a good experience. I had a free estimate, a man came to the house and was very detailed about what would be moved and packed. He got back to me immediately with the estimate, within hours. Moving day came (July 29) and I was told of a time frame between 9am-11am being on the closer side of 9am. I had to drop off my rental keys by 5pm, if not sooner. At 9:50am I got a call from the coordinator saying the truck had broken down. She then tried to schedule the truck to come out the next day. I told her this was unacceptable, since we were closing on our new house in a different city the next day. My keys were due THAT day, I had to move out. She later called back to tell me the packing company was almost there, but the truck was still delayed. She told me that they would be able to pack today but maybe not the truck loaded. I got the feeling they had given up, and I refused to take any other option. A truck had to be there that day. 3.5 hours and two more trucks later, they arrived. The second truck didn't meet the requirements at the weigh station and had to go back, they sent another truck immediately and the plus side was they sent 3 extra men to "speed" things along.
First, let me get to the packing services provided for me. They showed up soon after I was told they would, and I got an immediate negative response. They said they were quoted for about 30 boxes, and with all this stuff, they would need 130 boxes. They were also slightly irritated with my estimate claiming "they should send us out here instead of a guy who doesn't know anything". Things were very poorly labeled. Upon unpacking I found a box in my garage labeled "misc" only to find my entire closet of shoes, and only shoes in it. Another box, labeled "tea sets" upon being opened was full of mason jars individually packed, even though they were already in their respective boxes. I would have found that as trying to keep things in tact from breakage, except it looked like they gave up wrapping each jar individual because there was a full box, in its original box (just as the other 3 boxes of jars had been). All in all, they used 45 boxes, not 130. There were several items they flat out refused to pack, and told me I would have to put it in my car. Some of them I understood; paint, flammables, etc. But I could not understand why they'd not pack my computer. They seemed put out when I told them to bubble wrap my tv (after refusing to pack it) and put it in a frame box. When they were done, they left a lot of trash for me to clean up. I picked up empty tape rolls, extra paper, and they even left unused boxes which would have been billed to me. I sent the unused boxes with the moving crew so that I would not be billed.
The moving crew, when they did show up, seemed quite efficient at their job by starting on the garage since it was packed and ready. However my husband was not impressed with how rough they handled his fishing poles, so he asked to take them with him instead. After about 2 hours, they took a break for lunch. I am sure there is a labor law stating to only work so many hours, but they had JUST gotten there and I was in a major time crunch due to their delays. By 8pm (much later than when my keys were due) they had finally finished. We closed on the new house the following day, and on July 31, they showed up at 9am to unload. Most everything going into our new house was going either to the garage or the basement. Because of that, I had the upstairs carpets cleaned at the same time. If they did walk on the carpet, they were asked to wear booties. Only one crew member did, but then continued to walk on the dirty concrete as well, so I am not sure what good that did. They wheeled out our stainless steel stove, for us to find they had put a major dent in the top of it somehow. We pointed it out right away, and they noted it. Another issue, one of my closet doors in the basement was knocked off its slider and they could not get it put back on, because they dented up the rail. Upon more looking around, our smoker's leg was bent and the smoke stack smashed. We did a final check off, to make sure all the items made it, and lo and behold there were two things that did not. A set of very expensive flood lights didn't make it on the truck and a camcorder tripod. (Later on, I found out that the lights were left in the driveway, and then as you would suspect, taken since the old house was now vacant) During the move-in, a man came out to let me know they were checking in, had heard about our stove and would take care of the claim. The crew left trash for me to clean up, some things I found a month later (booties that one of the members wore). My husband came home from work early to keep an eye on them as he felt they were quite unprofessional.
I received a call from the move coordinator, checking with me the following day and promising to send me a survey and claim form to be filled out. By August 13, I had waited long enough and sent an email to the coordinator. I waited another 3 days, and called instead. She claimed she never got my email but sent the claim form out that day. I filled out the claim form and returned it. Two months after my move, and I haven't heard a single thing from anyone there after August 16 when the form was sent out. I was told an adjuster would be out immediately back on July 31. I still haven't gotten word back. I don't know if I just have crappy luck, or this was a fluke couple of days, or if this company is really that unreliable. Since I am not moving again anytime soon, I cannot give them another chance to see if it was in fact a fluke. All I can go by is my one time experience and the events that happened to me, and that was not so awesome. I wish I could give a nicer review.

Overall, I had a really good experience.  The move "foreman," Carlos, was extremely efficient and very professional.  He oversaw  a crew with whom he had no prior acquaintance (having been sent from Indianapolis).  He was polite, had a good sense of humor, and made sure the work got done.  On delivery, he had a local crew and again was quite efficient.  All the workers were quite efficient and polite.  Carlos' expertise saved us money, as we did not need a shuttle, as had been projected.

The only glitch was that a specialized team was to dismantle and then put together the sleep number bed.  They were to come on the 13th (per what I was told) but did not come until the 14th.  They sent three men from Indianapolis (75 miles) to take the bed apart, which was WAY more than needed.  No one showed up to put the bed back together (which was really more likely to need a specialized team).  They were an independent contractor, and Joanie (are contact person at Fry-Wagner) expressed concern and said she would look into it.

I had never used a moving company before and was a bit overwhelmed by the speed with which the packing and, then, the unloading went.  I was a bit overwhelmed.  A few things which should have been left got packed - but I was not disappointed about the speed, just unprepared.

THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY STOLE OUR PROPERTY & THEN CLAIMED WELL IT WAS NOT MARKED ON THE INVENTORY SHEET. FIVE GUYS WERE MOVING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT DURING OUR MOVE & I COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH WHAT WAS LEAVING OUR HOME & WHAT WAS RECORDED ON PAPERWORK & WHAT WAS NOT. I ASKED THEM TO SLOW DOWN SO OUR PAPERWORK COULD BE ACCURATELY RECORDED. THEY DID NOT HONOR MY REQUEST. THEY ALSO DELIVERED SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY WHICH DID NOT BELONG TO US AT THE DESTINATION ADDRESS. I TOLD THE DRIVER TO TAKE WITH HIM THE ITEMS THAT DID NOT BELONG TO US & HE SAID, "WELL SOMEONE ELSE PROBABLY HAS YOUR PROPERTY & I DO NOT KNOW WHO". MANY OF THE ITEMS THEY DELIVERED HAD MISSING  TICKET #S  WHICH FELL OFF DURING THE MOVE. THEY ARE DENYING PAYING FOR OUR DAMAGES BECAUSE OF INCORRECT OR MISSING TICKET #S.  I ASKED THEM TO SLOW DOWN SO I COULD CHECK EVERYTHING LEAVING OUR HOME & ENTERING THE NEW HOME AT THE DESTINATION ADDRESS & THEY IGNORED OUR REQUESTS. WE HAVE MISSING ITEMS THEY ARE CLAIMING THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE US FOR. THEY HAVE DAMAGED NEARLY EVERYTHING WE OWN AND ARE DECIDING WHAT THEY WILL & WILL NOT REIMBURSE US FOR. WE TOOK OUT THE BEST LEVEL OF INSURANCE VALUATION COVERAGE WITH FRY-WAGNER/UNITED MOVING AND STORAGE.
WE HIRED FRY-WAGNER UNITED VAN LINES TO MOVE OUR PERSONAL PROPERTY FROM OUR MISSOURI HOME TO OUR NEW MEXICO HOME. THEY MANAGED TO DAMAGE & LOSE NEARLY EVERYTHING WE OWN AND DAMAGED BOTH PROPERTIES AT THE MISSOURI HOME & NEW MEXICO HOME. THE EMPLOYEES OF THIS COMPANY TOOK OUR SIGNED PAPERWORK,ALTERED OUR SIGNED DOCUMENTS, LIED ABOUT STEALING THE PAPERWORK & THEN MAILED ME COPIES OF MY PAPERWORK 6 WEEKS LATER AFTER COMMITTING FRAUD AND ALTERING THE DOCUMENTS. THEY LIED ABOUT DAMAGING OUR HOMES. THE EMPLOYEES STOLE OUR PROPERTY & THEN INTENTIONALLY  FAILED TO PROPERLY RECORD OUR PROPERTY ON THE INVENTORY PAPERWORK ACCURATELY. ON THE MOVING DAY THE EMPLOYEES CALLED THEIR SUPERVISOR TO REPORT THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH FURNITURE BLANKETS AND HAD A TRUCK THAT WAS TOO SMALL TO FIT ALL OF OUR PROPERTY. THEY SUPERVISOR TOLD THEM & THEN ADVISED ME THAT THEY WOULD JUST HAVE TO MAKE IT WORK WITH THE SMALLER TRUCK. THEY SHOVED EVERYTHING WE OWNED INTO A TRUCK THAT WAS TOO SMALL WHICH CAUSED A LOT OF THE DAMAGE.THE  CLAIMS REPRESENTATIVE IS TREATING OUR CLAIM LIKE SOME SORT OF AUCTION OR FLEA MARKET. THEY DID NOT DO THE JOB WE HIRED THEM TO DO. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY 2 YEARS & WE ARE NOW HAVING TO  HIRE AN ATTORNEY  AND WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO FILE SUIT FOR PROPER REIMBURSEMENT. THEY ARE DENYING PAYING FOR OUR DAMAGES & LOSS WHICH IS BASED  ON THE MISTAKES OF THE EMPLOYEES OF FRY WAGNER/UNITED VAN LINES. I WAITED TO SUBMIT THIS REVIEW OF UNITED VAN LINES/FRY WAGNER BECAUSE I WAS HOPING THEY WOULD PROVIDE A BETTER LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH THE CLAIMS PROCESS THAN THEY DID WITH OUR MOVE. TO DATE THEY HAVE NOT SETTLED OUR CLAIM OR MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO OFFER US A FAIR SETTLEMENT.
DO NOT USE UNITED VAN LINES FRY WAGNER MOVING AND STORAGE IF YOU VALUE YOUR PROPERTY!!!!!
Response from Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage Co
"This is a completely false and slanderous review of Fry-Wagner's performance on this move. This customer moved with Fry-Wagner in June 2010 with a total move cost of $5,447.06. At no time during the relocation did Fry-Wagner receive any notification from this customer that there was theft. She had mentioned a lost notebook, and it was searched for upon delivery by our Driver and crew but could not be found. Had an allegation of theft been raised during the move, Fry-Wagner and United Van Lines would have immediately requested her to contact the police. Given these allegations are now being raised nearly 2 years later, it is very difficult to validate. A claim form was mailed to the customer the day the property damage was reported (June 23, 2010). Fry-Wagner paid $225 for property repairs within days of the damage report. Eight months later (March 29, 2011) the customer submitted a claim for transit damage in the amount of $39,503. Due to this large dollar amount, United Van Lines requires their Home Office Claims Department process the claim, and therefore immediately removed Fry-Wagner from this process. From March 29, 2011 until June 4, 2011 the customer would not allow an Inspector in her home to view the items that were allegedly damaged (she cancelled 3 appointments). United Van Lines offered a proposed settlement on June 23, 2011 to the customer, and requested proof of value on several items. However, several weeks went by and this individual could not provide any type of proof of value (receipts, proof of purchase) to validate several of the large claimed $ amounts. On September 1, 2011, United Van Lines, despite this critical missing information and lack of response by this customer, sent a final proposed claim settlement letter of $19,670.50 with a signed Release of Claim document. No response was received from the customer until February 2012. At that time, this customer filed a rebuttal of select claimed items, at which time United Van Lines adjusted the claim amount to $21,722.50. On March 6, 2012, United Van Lines received a notice from her attorney demanding $67,288.51. As a result, United Van Lines secured their own Legal representation and will be working through their Attorney from this point forward. Fry-Wagner demands this review be removed from our record for many of these baseless allegations as well as the fact that the settlement process - the crux of this individual's anger and frustration, rests with United Van Lines - not Fry-Wagner Moving & Storage."

They are a subsidiary of another company. We found them on Angie’s List. We were very satisfied with them. They gave us a reasonable estimate compared to some others. When the actual time came to pay them, it turned out to be a little bit less than the quoted price. It was a pleasant surprise because they saved us about $1000 or so from what they had quoted us. We plan on using them here also. We spent over $10000 for their services. They moved the complete contents of a three bedroom house. It was a lot of money, but it would be even more expensive if you load it up and they move it to wherever you are moving to because you do the biggest part of the work yourself. We were very happy with the way it turned out. They were nice, cooperative and very helpful with any questions we had either before or after the move. Their price was better than some. We were kind of in a hurry. We were closing on our house quickly and we needed somebody to move us fairly fast and they responded quickly than some of the other people we talked to. They were there when they were supposed to be there. There was no question about their professionalism too.

The bid process went very well. We had not moved for a while and the sales person did a good job of explaining the services and got us in touch with companies that would move our cars and send some antiques to our family members around the country. The packers came at the appointed time. The glassware and the art were carefully packed, but several pieces of furniture were not really protected at all. The van showed up on time, but our load was put on a rented non- climate controlled truck. Then it sat, un-air conditioned in 100 degree St. Louis humid weather for more than a week. Fry Wagner did contact us to tell us that our shipment would be late and our rep, Joanne was good about keeping us up-to-date. Our shipment arrived a week late. Along the way our belongings were reloaded on a different van so that the items for storage and things to be delivered to our home got mixed up. Many items were broken or damaged (3 tables, a chair, a sound system, china, etc) and we had to take several weeks to sort out the boxes delivered to storage. We filed a claim for the broken items in the required time period and the person who came to assess the damage was very professional. He was able to restore two of our tables and declared the rest unfix-able. Fry Wagner/ United van lines has yet to pay us for loss and for being late 3 months after the move.

"We have just recently been made aware of your posting on Angie's List and would like to take this opportunity to address your comments. The carrier (United Van Lines) handled your claim for loss/damage and our records indicate that you received a check for $647 sent to you via US Mail on October 1, 2010. This check represented the reimbursement for items that were not repairable that you list in your report. In addition, the carrier sent you a second check for $750 for the delay in delivery of your items - this check was sent on November 1, 2010, also via US Mail. We truly regret that your move did not go as smoothly as what you were promised. At Fry-Wagner, we pride ourselves in our service quality and providing a seamless transition for our customers – the last thing we want to do is make your relocation more stressful. Moving is nasty, whether you use a moving company or do it yourself. They labelled the boxes they packed better than I did. They were very good. They originally bid our load at around 14,000 pounds, and even though it ended up coming to around 17,000 pounds, they stuck with their original estimate for a 14,000 pound load. I would have preferred that they had laid down carpeting protector up and down the stairs, but they did lay down cardboard over the hardwood floors. They came when they said they would and were very responsive. They worked hard, and I was happy with them.

They were just terrific. I researched over a dozen moving companies and almost all were scary in some respect. These guys were professional and prompt. My son had a big screen TV and some electrical equipment that he was pretty fussy about moving and they treated it very carefully. They arrived at the time that they said they would. They provided great customer service. They called several times before the move to make sure everything was still on schedule. They also called several times afterward to make sure everything went fine. They also sent out a survey to fill out as well. There was a problem when they tried to move the big screen TV in through my patio doors. I felt that they might not make it through without any damage so I told them to try another doorway. When they were finished, one of the movers tried to charge me for 5 hours when it had only been 3. He called his supervisor and everything was cleared up with no hassle.

Salesman met with me and went over my house item by item. Gave me an itemized list to be moved, and the charge. He brought boxes in quantity and size that he felt necessary (I had one extra box, that's how close he came.) Salesman arranged moving date to be least expensive, and still worked with my closing date. His assistant called me frequently keeping me aware of the movers and the schedule. I was kept informed of my furniture while it was in transport. Movers arrived within 15 minutes of the estimated time and date.
