It's been quite sometime that we've used them, but when we did use them they were fantastic. Very professional and creative in what they did. It's been quite a few years now since we had them work for us.
They do then, and I have no reason to believe they've changed, they do what I consider upper, high end type improvements. That's what we were looking for, good quality cabinets and stuff. They provided that without any effort at all. The principal there, paid was really attentive to the project. He knew, he listened to what we were wanting to accomplish. He knew what his services could provide. We had no misunderstandings or communication problems with him. We talked to him, we found his prices fair for what we wanted to get done. He got it done on time and the way we wanted.

Chuck was receptive to our needs.  He has an artistic eye, but is practical.  The project went over the time estimate, but I don't know a kitchen remodel that doesn't.

The entire process went very well.  Mr. Schumacher was very professional in providing detailed plans for the potential project, and was very flexible in making changes as we went along.  When I (home owner) fractured my leg about the time the project was to begin, he was very kind and waited patiently until I was able to proceed with the project.  When we did begin, he had the various workers carefully scheduled so that the work proceeded smoothly.  When I asked him for additional work, such as removing the old tile from the floor and some dry wall that was moldy, he was glad to do so, and up front about the additional cost for additional work.  His carpenter, tile man, glass installers, plumber, and electrician were all very nice to work with and professional in doing their part of the job.  When the granite installers did not satisfy me, he made sure they came back and completed their job.  When the shower faucet malfunctioned after a short time of use, he contacted the manufacturer and obtained and installed replacement parts at no cost to me.

Went very well. The quality of the design was exceptional (he gave us several options to choose from), and they were very willing to work with us knowing we would do our own installation. The cabinets were perfect, arrived exactly on time, in great condition, all parts and pieces present. We found a better price on granite elsewhere, but would definitely go back to Schumacher again if we were redesigning a bath or kitchen.

The finished product looks excellent, however the road to get there was long and painful. To be fair, Schumacher was good at some things. We had some tile that was installed poorly in a bathroom. They paid for replacement tile and had the same installer reinstall it. When the 2nd tile was almost as bad, they bought more tile and had someone else install it. When materials arrived that were incorrect due to manufacturer or Schumacher error, they resolved the problem with no hassle (other than the obvious delays). However, the bad overwhelmed the good. Their prices are on the high end, but our initial impressions were high as well. Our designer, one of the carpenters, the tile installer, and Chris (in the office) were on par with their prices. However, the first two (and maybe the tile installer) are no longer there. The other carpenter was below par. If I didn't call them, days or weeks would pass without updates. Their scheduling abilities were very poor. Many, many times we'd be told a workman was to arrive on a certain day, only for that to be rescheduled multiple times. Their 4 month project was finally completed in over a year. Our kitchen was unusable for multiple major holidays. Chuck, the owner, only involved himself in our project after our designer was no longer with the company (not exactly sure whether she left or was fired). That's not necessarily bad, except for what he did when he became involved. I mistakenly made final payment before 2 minor outstanding issues (a small piece of trim and a fan switch needed to be ordered and installed) were resolved. Chuck asked me to pay extra at this time as well. He says there was work done that wasn't in the contract, yet we had never been told of additional charges when the work was actually being done. I suspect he knew this for weeks, but only now had the nerve to tell me. I refused this unjust charge. I handed the check to Chuck and he said "you have my word" that the work will be completed. Over the following months, I made multiple (probably 6 or so) calls to check status. I received the trim, but it's still in a box. I was told the switch was also ordered and had arrived at their office. Today, I called for another status update. I get transferred to Chuck, and he says he's not going to order the $150 switch. I said, "you're going back on your word?", and he replied with "I guess I am." When I asked why he couldn't have just told me this months ago, he claims he forgot to return my call (even though I had called many times). He said he's not paying for the switch because of costs he incurred due to other issues that were not my fault. So he's penalizing me, the customer, for how he mismanaged my project. The last 6-9 months of this project were very annoying, and I was constantly worried that work was never going to get performed. Today's conversation with Chuck proves he is not to be trusted.

SCOTT SCHUMACHER WAS THE INITIAL CONTACT, AND HELPED US IN SELECTING THE KITCHEN CABINETS, AND COUNTER TOPS. WE PROVIDED A NEW CONVECTION/CONDUCTION OVEN, FLAT TOP STOVE, SINK, DISHWASHER, AND ICEBOX. SCOTT DESIGNED THE ENTIRE KITCHEN PHYSICAL AND LIGHTING LAYOUT, AND MADE VERY GOOD SUGGESTIONS ON RELOCATING THE APPLIANCES FOR EFFICIENCY OF COOKING. SCOTT HANDLED THE SUPERVISION OF THE ENTIRE TEAROUT AND RE-INSTALLATION EFFORT - CHECKING ON PROGRESS OF HIS WORK FORCE ONCE OR TWICE A DAY. ALL SCHEDULING OF PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS, CARPENTERS, DELIVERY OF COUNTERTOPS AND CABINETS, PULLING BUILDING PERMITS, AND SCHEDULING PRELIMINARY AND FINAL INSPECTION BY COUNTY INSPECTORS WAS DONE BY HIM. ALL WORKERS WERE COURTEOUS, CLEAN, PROMPT, PLEASANT, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES AND SHOWED UP ON TIME. HIS PRICE WAS NEAR THE HIGH END OF FOUR QUOTES, BUT HIS SUPERVISION, DESIGN AND QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP IS THE HIGHEST. SCOTT IS VERY EASY TO WORK WITH AND LISTENS TO YOUR INPUTS.
