I write this review to hopefully prevent others from experiencing the anguish and frustration that I went through. I made an appointment at my local Spectrum store that had recently and conveniently opened near my home. I brought my broken cable box with me to exchange for a new one. Surprisingly I was told by the rep that they never see customer appointments, so I question the practicality of an appointment versus a walk-in. Anyway, the rep was courteous and seemed competent and she seamlessly exchanged my box for a new unit. I followed the instruction sheet that accompanied the new box, but I could not get my system to load. I spent the next 2 hours resetting up the box all to no avail. I then called the support number located on the bottom of the instruction sheet. After several menu options I learned that my new box had to be activated. The Spectrum rep had failed to mention anything about activation. I then spent another couple of hours trying to load my programs. No matter what I did, I kept getting an error message and nothing would load Finally, the next morning I circumvented the unnecessarily complex series of menu options and asked to speak with a live assistant. After a short wait the assistant answered and patiently listened to my issue. She looked at my account and explained that it still showed that my old box was attached. Apparently, the store rep had failed to replace my new box with the old on her system. She further explained that there was nothing I could have done on my own without this adjustment first having been made by the store rep. In essence all my efforts had been in vain. Please learn from my mistake and ensure that the Spectrum store rep properly updates your account before attempting to activate any new equipment.
Description of Work: My cable box mysteriously stopped working after many years of trusted service.
