CURT AND KAROL'S HOME CENTER

In September, we asked Curt to give us an estimate on a trade-in for this set, as we were extremely unhappy with the performance of both appliances. The washer didn't clean, clothes came out smelling mildewed, and the dryer didn't dry. He said he would "put together some numbers" for us. After no response, one week later, we gave a follow-up call. He said he "hadn't had time to get to it." After no response, two weeks later we gave a follow-up call again. This time, the secretary called us back and left the message that we would be allowed a $300 trade-in on both appliances. We didn't want to trade-in for such a low amount, so we asked what we could do about our problems. Curt told her to tell us that they were carrying a product now for the GE washers since they had all been smelling and mildewing. When I asked them to send the product to me, they said they couldn't mail it (I live 15 miles from Concordia). They offered to drop it off next time they were on a service call in my town, with an invoice. I suggested that since all their machines must have this problem, as they were carrying a product to fix it, and that perhaps they should just give it to me instead of charging me the $8.99. They refused. So, for $8.99 they have lost a customer and gotten a bad report from me on Angie's list. I wonder if it was worth it.
