Due to many items on my home computer that I use for work, Outlook is not an option and I have always used WebMail to access my e-mails. A week before the change over, I called Socket and asked if I needed to save my e-mails, etc. I was told it would be a seamless move and I would have no problems. Thsi has been a nightmare ever since. I have spent hours and hours on the phone trying to get the system to work. First they did not transfer my e-mails over -- then they were dumped in in no order. Then I was told their webmail didn't offer any type of sort, folders, address list options, etc. It was worthless. Techs would tell me to download stuff onto my computer to make it work -- I know what will affect my work account and knew it would have crashed a lot of my systems. When I told them that, they would agree. (I can only be thankful that I am tech savvy enough to know this or this could have been worse.) I finally told them I had a CenturyTel account and Socket agreed they could just have my e-mails transferred over. Techs told me their webmail was not a good system or I got Techs who knew little or nothing about the WebMail, but they were "willing to try" to help me. Those were usually no help at all. I thought at first they were coming through and I thought it was working. Then I got a call from someoneo telling me they had tried to e-mail me several times and I had not responded. I found out all my e-mails for six weeks were lost -- gone into cyberspace. This cost me sales of animals that I do through ads on the web and e-mails (literally thousands of dollars). Then they fixed it (I thought) and again people were telling me they couldn't reach me through the c-magic e-mail. Then they called me and wanted me to come back as their customer and they would give me a credit of $5 -- I lost thousands of dollars because of their bad service and they would give me $5. When I told the person on the phone that he was quick to tell me I could talk to their lawyers about that. One tech actually told me if I wasn't happy I should go with another provider. I have, but I need these e-mails since the e-mail address is tied to a business and has been published for years all over the web. I was only able to accress the webmail maybe oneo day a week. Whenever I would call and tell them, it wasn't working, they would say "you're right -- it isn't working." Now they supposedly have a new webmail they want me to try -- it has some features, but again it's Socket's whoops. You can sort by name now, but it doesn't put them in date order -- so if you have two years of stuff in their, they are all mixed together. You may have some idea when the person e-mailed you, but it's in no order so that's no help. I just want this e-mail to go away. All I want for Socket to do is forward my e-mails and they don't seem to be able to do that. Don't go with Socket, this is a warning. CenturyTel is great -- lots of times you call and actually get a person (not a machine). They cost half as much and you get real service. Beware of Socket -- they have all these ads on Radio and TV, but look at their last quarterly report -- they have lost money -- revenue for the third quarter of 2010 was $3.4 million compared to $4.6 million for the same quarter a year ago. I guess I'm not the only one that is going elsewhere. Even the most recent call I got admitted their Techs were going to CenturyTel -- hmmm I wonder why?
Description of Work: My small internet company was sold out to Socket. This company had provided local internet service to patrons in the area. Socket was to provide a similar service.
