Bad. The actual problem wasn't properly diagnosed. P codes pointed to EGR valve, which they diagnosed as a sensor needed to be replaced. Also, they noticed that State Inspection was coming up, and said the rear brakes needed to be replaced. I have 3 kids in college all with high mileage cars. To save money, I do any work on the cars I'm capable of doing, and brakes are one of them. Since their was time, we took the car back to do the brakes. Turns out the brakes were fine, not even half worn down. Took the car to my mechanic in STL. The EGR P code was trying to show the car had an electric problem causing the car to race to 2000RPM in idle

Repair solved the problem and brakes are working well two months later.  We have several older cars maintained and repaired by Privitt's.  We showed up first thing in the morning, said, "The Nissan brakes sound bad." Mr. Privitt put the order in the computer with a couple of clicks - he recognizes us and knows our cars.  He called later with an estimate, and at the end of the day saying the work was done.

One morning on my way to work my car wouldn't move. It would only drive in reverse. Previously, I had asked my coworkers and acquaintances who they used for car repair. Two of them said they used Privitt; one even said her father, a retired MU professor, had used Privitt for several decades since it is a father/son operation. Both said they had really good experiences and could not complain about the service they had received. So when my car quit working, I had it towed to Privitt's for repair.
I asked them to call me when they figured out the problem and tell me what it would cost to repair the car. I received three separate phone calls. One was to tell me that I need to replace my solenoid pack and the transmission fluid was low. Another was to tell me that my radiator fan needed to be replaced as did the transmission gasket pan. Each time I asked if the repair was absolutely necessary because I had limited funds and I was told yes. I asked if the transmission was okay and I was told yes. I authorized the repairs and paid for them. Driving around town I noticed that my car didn't drive right, but after calling Privitt, was assured it should be fine. A few weeks later, I was driving down 63 when my transmission blew up. I had the car towed to Privitt for repair. I was told that my transmission was dead and it needed to be replaced for at least $2000. When told what it would cost, I said no, I couldn't afford to put that much money into the car, that I might as well go get a new one.
Mr. Privitt was nice enough to let me leave my car at his place of business while I looked for another car. He is courteous, but a man of few words. Still, after talking to other mechanics, I was told that they should have figured out the transmission was about to go out when the car would only drive in reverse. I don't know that the solenoid pack, the heater fan, and the transmission pan really needed replaced, but I felt like maybe I was gotten to, and if there is a next time like this, I will have the car towed to another shop for a second opinion.
The other thing to know is, since it's a small shop, there is no waiting room, no shuttle service, and not open on the weekend. I'm mentioning this not as a complaint, but for information only, in case any one is wondering.

I just started using them and my wife works with the owner’s wife. I would say I would be very careful who to take my car to because I had a really bad experience before. They have a little office but they worked on the stuff for 30 years. The environment was not impressive at all but the staffs are very personable and very prompt on diagnosis and service. Their integrity and honesty is also superb. 

They are really good.  All they charged for was the inspection because I had my own blades and they put them in.  They are very reasonable.  They are friendly and they get everything done in a nice amount of time.  They are real quick and very professional.  I only go to them.
