MONARCH TITLE CO INC

I would not recommend this title company and regret hiring them. I called them on November, 30th, 2020 to get a quote as I was refinancing an investment property at a lower interest rate and was told it would cost $91.80 for the title insurance, $412.00 for the title search and $258.00 for the settlement agent fee. I decided to go with them as they were the lowest cost. Fast-forward to a few days before closing when I get the closing disclosure; I was outraged to see half a dozen add-ons not discussed that totaled $208.00. I called Monarch and left a message. A few days later I'm called back and am told a bunch of weak excuses including 'whomever quoted you was wrong' and 'other title companies charge the same fees we do'. I have a list of what the other title companies were going to charge me and they didn't have half the undiscussed fees Monarch does (the only Monarch surprise fee all the title companies charged was the closing protection letter). I asked who had given me the quote on November 30th and wasn't given an answer. It can't be that tough to figure out who answers the telephones on a specific date. Based on the principle of the shadiness I wanted to go with another title company but my lender told me it would take two to three weeks for them to certify a different title company and so I reluctantly agreed to let Monarch Title do it. And to top it off... when I was at the Monarch office at the closing I asked the woman who was there watching me sign paperwork that I would like for Monarch to call me once they received the closing money I was going to wire from my bank account to theirs and the woman assured me she would call once it was received. Well, she never did. I'm not surprised, either as they had already proven to me they're a dishonest, unprofessional company. Again, I regret choosing Monarch Title Company and I won't make the same mistake again in the future.
