They did our initial home move-in cleaning; and they did a very good job with that as home had been vacant prior to our moving in. We later used them to clean our home twice a month for about 2 years. I thought the price was reasonable. Initially I thought the quality of the work was very good (I've used other services in the past); but over time they started having more turn-over in the employees and the quality of work went down. I would say it went from being good to just being average. My main concern with this company was the professionalism. Some things in the home were broken (which I understand happens); and I was told we would be reimbursed for the repair costs, but never was reimbursed despite submitting receipts/etc. This happened on 3 different occasions. They also on a couple of occasions quoted me one price for a special service (like windows); but then later tried to charge me a significantly higher ammount. I also was very disturbed by the fact that they left the key to my home on our entry table one day after cleaning, but never contacted me via phone or email to confirm that the key was in fact left behind. This incident made me very concerned about how they were managing the security of my house key, and I was very upset they did not contact me to let me know they were no longer in possession of my key. Ultimately, that was the final straw that caused me to change services

Initially the service was good, but the quality went downhill. They were just cleaning enough to get by. On one occasion they came into my house while we were out of town and completed an unscheduled cleaning without our permission and sent us a bill! After a rather curt discussion with the owner, he apologized. When my husband called to let him know we no longer needed their service, the owner responded "good luck with that" and hung up on my husband. It appears they are about spending as little time as possible to collect payment and not concerned with quality service.

I wish it didn't end that way but he didn't want to listen to what the costumer wanted therefore he lost a big job and respect from me.
I would not refer this company to any one, it is pricey for the kind of work performed.

The service was excellent. They arrive on time and work steadily, stopping only for lunch. All employees seem well trained by the McDermotts, and they oversee all their work. Due to their cleaning experience, they provided many helpful tips on day-to-day cleaning and suggested products I could try. They say they like to have the owners around when they do a deep clean such as this, so they can check in with us to see that everything is done to expectations.

Overall, we are very pleased with their service, and will continue to utilize them for our weekly cleaning.

The initial interview went fine. I thought they were more than capable of cleaning our home based on their experience. Here's where they disappoint:1. Phone calls. I was charged for each person per the time-frame that each person worked. I did not expect to pay for time that people did not work. I noticed at least 2 workers (1 being one of the owners of the company) taking phone calls while they should have been solely focused on cleaning my home - and if they didn't want to be focussed on cleaning my home so that they could take phone calls, that is fine... but don't charge me for that time. Also, I didn't appreciate that if someone left my home after having worked 5 minutes of the 15 minute time segment, I was charged as though they worked the entire time. This may seem like I'm being picky, but not when they charge as much as they charge. I don't mind paying more IF, and only IF, it is STELLAR work, focused on the job I'm paying them to do, and charging ONLY for what time they devote to my home, no rounding up.
2. Communication. I tried a few different times to get something on the schedule with them (the first cleaning went ok, not perfect, but I was willing to give them another try). When I would call, I would be asked to call back (evidently I was catching him at a bad time... perhaps while he should have been cleaning someone else's home?). I don't call companies back. If I'm paying them money, the burden of gaining my business is on them, not me. Not impressed that I was even asked to call back.
I will say that the wife/owner (Lara) was VERY kind and a very hard worker. She also sided with me when I questioned why the amount I was paying was being rounded up - so at least once, they did rectify the payment amount.
Overall, I felt like I was paying far too much for what they offer - if they were professional enough to turn their cell phones OFF while working, charged according to who actually worked for a specific amount of time, and then would call back on their own, then I would have been able to provide a more favorable review. It's not that they were bad house keepers, it's these other things that turned me off.

The came when they said they would and did a great job on the first visit. The second and final visit was when I noticed my home was NOT deep cleaned as we discussed. I tried to call the contractor to rectify, but never received a return phone call. Even after I stopped payment on the second payment, they didn't call to try and resolve my issues, which tells me that they knew they had done me wrong but were not willing to rectify it. Very poor customer service.

The company actually came in under their estimate. They were on time and did a great job. It took about 6 hours for the job.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience with them. They were very professional and thorough. We have a lot of high fans and lights. They brought in ladders and cleaned all of the hard to reach areas. We were very happy with them. They gave us various tips on maintenance.

My big problem was with the business owner. I would call him to let him know when there were any temporary changes in the schedule. I was asked to put it in writing which I did. When,closer to the event, I called to remind him, I was again asked to put it in writing!
At Christmas, I gave each of the employees a fairly generous tip. Later, the business owner suggested I give him the cash as he would disrtibute the tips amongst all his employees. I didn't receive a thank you from anyone at any time.

Having been assured the employees knew how to use security alarms, I was upset to discover that the police had responded several times to alarm calls .

In September 2007, I was out of town for about a week. At the end of the first day, I had a call from my son stating that the housekeepers had been, despite several notes to the owner, and set off the alarms. The police told them to leave but the front door was left unlocked. The following day, I had another call. A neighbors cat had been locked in the garage during the events of the previous day but, since the front door was unlocked, he was able to retrieve his cat. However, my neighbor was concerned and the poice were called again. When I returned home I found the alarm had not been set. At this point, I terminated their services.

No other company has cleaned or cared for my home as well as House Keeping Specialists. Unfortunately, over a period of years, the irritants outweighed the positives.

Went very well. This was a two bedroom apartment with a large living room.

our daughter was getting married and we were having several guest stay over at our house. we have dogs and birds, which create lots of hair and bird dander. we kept the house clean but never had a deep cleaning before. they brought a crew in and did a total cleaning of every room, kitchen, baths, bedrooms, upstairs and downstairs. professional, efficient and complete. the entire process took about half a day.

I cannot say enough good things about Housekeeping Specialists. We were in the process of putting our home on the market , and were looking for a company who could make our house look its best before showings began. Michael and Lera Jo, the owners, came out in the evening for a consultation - to discuss their general services and what they would recommend doing in our home specifically. After putting together a quote, and recommending a deep cleaning to include the outside windows and garage, we scheduled service for the following week. Michael and Lera Jo worked and cleaned with their team (the people they employ are fantastic as well). Everyone arrived promptly, and finished within the time frame estimated when we booked the appointment. They cleaned from top to bottom - floors, windows (inside and out), furniture - you name it, by the time they left, our home sparkled. Pricing worked out exactly as quoted (regular cleanings requiring less time are less than the price we paid for our deep cleaning), and was worth every penny. As a note, a unique aspect of Michael and Lera Jo's expertise was with Feng Shui. Very interesting to learn a bit about, and they had some great suggestions for our home. In short, Housekeeping Specialists is professional, prompt, and thorough. We will definitely continue to use their service.

They come when they say they will, and clean the whole house every time. They're very responsive for the rare issue. Love these people, very professional. I've had many house keepers, none even come close to this group.
