Handyman Haulers did a great job loading a U-haul for us. They were on time, very professional, polite and very respectful of our furniture. They did a great job at fitting as much furniture into one u-haul as possible, which I appreciated. Can definitely tell these guys have been in the moving business for awhile.

I was not happy with the service. They took longer than expected, which ended up causing a lot more money paid. I even had to finish the job myself. Also, they stuffed everything in the garage, which caused much more work to be done for us.

I had them move a piano and then hired them again for a whole house move. They were professional and careful with my stuff. Initial calls were returned promptly. You do need to have cash for the $200 down pay net when they start.

The moving crew arrived on time, and was courteous, professional and knew how to handle the furniture that I needed moved. They worked quickly and efficiently, moving in less than the the time that I thought the job would take.
The problem came when I paid the bill. I had been told that the company would only accept local checks or cash. I bank in Columbia, MO, the same town in which the entire move took place. I have used the same bank since moving here in 2002. My bank's home office is in Fulton, MO, about 30 miles away. My checks are printed with my Columbia address, but the bank's adddress was printed on the check as XYZ Bank, Fulton, Missouri. Apparently, Handyman Haulers does not consider this a "local check," even though I moved to within one-half mile of one of the three Columbia branches. This resulted in an unnecessarily unpleasant situation involving a call to the business owner, who then insisted on putting my driver's license information on
the check.
I will not use this company again, because of this, and I will not recommend them to others.
I have used another mover in Columbia for various small jobs, and they have always done excellent work. I did not use them this time, because they were not available when I needed to move. I have always paid them with a check, and I have never had any trouble with them accepting this form of payment.

"We have done business for over 21 years & in that time we have accepted LOCAL COLUMBIA CHECKS ONLY .. Even when most other service providers would not take a check , as some still do not today... The pymt methods are written on the 1st line of the contract in 14 BOLD.... All customers are informed 3 times on every job... [1] We inform customers when they book the job on the phone.. [2] Then again upon arrival and [3] then again when customers sign the contract. The contract is signed twice, once @ the beginning and once @ the completion of the work... Compared to the 18,733 customers who were prepared and appreciated the professional moving they requested and they were required to provide an accurate payment. For this reason this customer say's " Will no longer use this company's service..." I even went as far to okay the customers out of towm check when the crew called that day, just to help out the customer.... And the customer still complain? What else could I do? But take care of the customer..... JAMES"

We received excellent service from this company for our move across town. The crew arrived on time; worked quickly, efficiently, and safely; and were polite, courteous, and professional. I had them move very fragile and very heavy items, and they did it like pros. I had no worries, no accidents, and no dings/dents to the furniture or walls. I would not hesitate to call on them again or to recommend them to friends.

I hired Handyman Haulers because they had a good price and were available when I called them. I called around for a number of estimates and they were about standard for a 2-man moving team with truck. They were not available on weekends (but this is apparently standard in this area). Their rates were charged per hour, with a minimum of 2 hours. I booked them for a full day, which is a minimum of 4 hours, because I didn't know how long it would take to move my stuff. All told, it took them about 4.5 hours.
They were supposed to show up at 8am, and they were maybe a few minutes late- not a big deal. The dispatcher called to tell me they were on their way, and they got started right away when they arrived. The two guys who arrived were quite courteous and moved very quickly despite the heat of the day. (Why is Moving Day always the hottest day of the year?)
Since I was just moving down the road into my boyfriend's house, I had already made lots of trips with the awkward house stuff that is hard to move, such lawn equipment, big framed pictures, electronics, and clothing. However, there was plenty for them to move- a house full of furniture, boxes, and bags of stuff. I love vintage and antique furniture, and they took good care of it. I have a large round mirror (3.5' diameter), and it survived the move very well (and this would be the sixth move it's survived with me!) The guys had lots of blankets and padding that they put in place as they filled the truck, which they did expertly.
My old house was one level (typical suburban place), but I was moving into my boyfriend's partially-furnished house, which has a weird driveway and is two stories. The movers were really nice about this, figured out a plan quickly, and worked with us to make sure that furniture ended up on the right level in the right rooms. They did a great job with it, both making my stuff fit into the house and managing the two-level, weird-driveway issues. They also worked very hard to get a large couch through a door at the end of a hallway with a tight turn and inconvenient light fixture, but managed it with no damage to anything. Excellent!
It was a hot day, but they were mostly in the shade while they worked, so it wasn't too awful. They did ask my permission to take one break in the middle of loading the truck, and another break in the middle of unloading the truck. The breaks were very short and I was happy to let them have the chance to get some water and snacks, because it was hard work and humid.
It all went really smoothly. I have been unpacking for the last few weeks, and I haven't found any damage to the house, my furnishings, or my boyfriend's furnishings. I'm so glad I hired movers for this move, and I would definitely hire Handyman Haulers again.
I was able to pay by check, but they would not accept a tip written on the check. I was not prepared with cash, but I was able to borrow some cash to make sure the tip got paid. Just FYI- make sure you're prepared!
