I highly recommend ABC Seamless Steel Siding - the owners and especially Brad Kennedy and his installation crew. Over five years later, our siding still looks good as new (except where Mediacom drilled holes in it without authorization and left them visible --ah but that needs to go under a Mediacom review!)
In August 2010, the defective Colorlock siding on our home needed replacing. After some research, steel siding seemed a good option. I was sure of that after ABC's owner Dale Oyer Sr came out to explain the advantages of their durable seamless steel siding, the lifetime warranty, showed me samples and wrote up the firm (no surprises later!) contract.
Brad Kennedy and his excellent crew were always professional, timely (showing up as scheduled for a full day of work), obviously experienced (like a well oiled machine of efficiency) and provided the beautiful result promised.
Though ultimately unnecessary, I appreciated that Dale Oyer Jr came by a few times to access the progress of the crew.
Call them -- you won't be disappointed!
The siding installed has a log-cabin-look to it (although it is really steel with a 50 year warranty on all labor and materials) and it turned better than I expected. We had a party last weekend and people commented on the difference that it made to our home. Most couldn't even believe it was the same place! Every time I pull in to my driveway, I can't believe that this is really my house! It is beautiful thanks to Brad K and his crew at ABC Seamless of Ashland, MO.
Construction crews arrived within a week or two, with three large double axle trailer's, and started the siding project. Not asking where they could setup they blocked the driveway fully, they also were parked in the yard, and were someone upset when I told them they had to move them, they did, but not without grumbling how much extra time it would take them to do the work.
They also needed a full time 110 VAC power service, which we obliged, and found out that the trailers were heated, and for three weeks steady they ran and our electric bill the next month was like $40 higher than normal.
They were good at what they did, but the crew chief was a nickle and dime guy, finally had to call the owner and have him explain to his crew chief, that entire house in the contract included under the deck area. The moved along very rapidly and in the process of removing some house lighting fixtures, managed to push a wire up into the old soffit and then re-hooked up the light just before they left. The switch that operated that light did not turn off the light, it was on all the time, they just shrugged and said that's the way it was. Couple of weeks later I had to call an electrician and told them about the light, and they worked on it for a full day, and then found the missing wire in the attic with a bare end. That cost some $180.00 for that to be corrected.
There was also an over abundance of shards of cut sheet metal peices all around the house, in the gardens, on walks and in the driveway as well. Total clean up, was part of the contract but never did. They were given there money and left after a week of work.
After they left, one of the casement swing out windows in the house would not open again, so by then was making a list of things they needed to remedy. Also all the new gutters were to have screen guards, the boxes of new guards were left outside my garage without them installing any of them in the new gutters, again a part of the contract, they did not honor. That cost me $75 to have a handy man come in and install them a few months later.
I started calling Dale Oyer in late January 2013, and made follow up calls every other week until April or May. When he did answer his calls, I discussed the above problems, and he said he would get back to me but never did, I made a total of several dozen calls in total to them and still have not seen or heard word one in return, some 8 months later. He always acted like I thought they fixed all that, and would promise to call me back, but never did.
This brings into the forefront, the lifetime warranty which to me was a selling point, as they wouldn't respond to problems they created, am not sure how good there warranty is, if there is any at all.
I realize that I should have made the last check for $1000.00 less until I was fully able to check it all out, this work was done in winter so any long inspections were not easy to do. It wasn't until spring until I noticed the window problem.
