The estimate was performed on 5/28/20 with a 3-4 week timeframe to completion. I would be upgrading a 12" to a 14" and a 16" to a 22". I was called the next day letting me know the order had been placed. At the four week mark, I called and was told the materials still had not arrived. At the 8 week mark, I was called and we scheduled installation only to be rained out. I was told someone would call later that day to re-schedule. Three days later, I called to ask why no one had call to reschedule and was given a date for service. On the morning of the scheduled service, I was called and told they wouldn't be here by the 8:00 am time give, but would be here by 1:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, I called the office and told them I was tired of the run-around. The installers finally arrived at 6:30 pm and worked until nearly 10:45 pm. They were great. I was only given a $100 discount for the incompetence of the scheduler/leadership of the company. The only reason I didn't give them a "F" is because of the work during installation. It was the only good part of the entire process.

Super. They gave us an estimate to replace the leaking skylight and we even upgraded to solar powered to open the skylight, which it didn't do before. They were on time and called to keep us up to date on the status and even provided us with all the forms we need for the tax credits next tax season.

Sam was very professional and took the time to thoroughly explain both the product and the installation process. The installer was confident and punctual; he started and completed the project in less time than originally forecast. There was one hiccup that necessitated a delay and rescheduling of the installation. An issue arose when the installer first arrived as to the extent he was to build out the frame. The matter needed to be clarified which caused a delay of a few days. The company went to great lengths to make sure we were satisfied and the overall cost was less than other bids received.

Work was completed as scheduled for the quoted price. I did have to clean paint spatter off a leather couch after they left. There was also paint drips on the shingles around one of the skylights. Inside finish molding isn't cut exact in the corners but unless you look for it you don't notice. Overall a good but not great job.

He arrived on time and did the work quickly. He went above and beyond by staining some trim so that you wouldn't see any difference. Everything looks great!

They said they would be here between 8-9 and showed up within that window. They were really quick and cleaned up after themselves. They warned me of any possible issues, to make sure I knew what could happen once they got up there and what the price would be. Everything worked as expected. We've had a few storms since, and no leaking issues have been present.

Sam Hook came to the location to review the scope of work and inspect skylight we were looking to replace. Sam explained that since the Low-Profile Flashing with Adhesive Underlayment for Curb Mount Skylight was in sound shape all that St. Louis Skylight's would need to do is remove the old panel and replace the new panel. Sam further explained the technician would also replace the J-channel which likely was brittle due to age and exposure over time. Sam took pictures and shared the pictures with me for the existing Skylight he inspected. The scope of work would be very simple and straightforward. Access to the roof is very easy to achieve. Sam was cordial and professional. Clarence came on-site to install the 22-1/2 in. x 46-1/2 in. Fixed Curb-Mount Skylight with Tempered Low-E3 Glass (Velux FMC2246) product. He backed up the truck to the roof, climbed on the truck, walked onto the roof with the unit, completed the work, and collected finally payment within 45 minutes. Clarence was professional, and laser-focused on getting the job finished quickly. Having done some homework to prepare for the initial sales consultation, I requested clarification from Sam Hook on the cost and value comparison between the offer given by St. Louis Skylights and the same panel unit if purchased at a local box store ~$200 including taxes. I did ask if this was the very best price St. Louis Skylights would offer. Sam didn't satisfactorily answer my economic question. I was underwhelmed. Given the customer cost of the unit is $184 at a box store, the wholesale cost is possibly no more than the deposit required to secure the sales agreement ($169). A price of $676 for this service and product installation is too high which is why I am graded 'D' for cost, much lower than overall provided 'B' for the entire experience. There are over 50 buildings in the close neighborhood/HOA which could be a market opportunity for ~75 identical product installations. I didn't like the pricing. I didn't have a better alternative immediately. I will share with neighbors/HOA our experience was somewhat positive, the price seems much too high for what was required. I will leave it to HOA to make an informed decision based on ours.

Terrible Business Practice The short story is that I signed the contract and waited a long time for them to schedule me, only to be cancelled. The reschedule time was ridiculous, I decided this company would not be very reliable if I had water leakage. If they could not get around to installing my sun tunnel, how long would it take them to get around to fixing a water leak or some other damage. Now they want me to pay a $192.50 restocking fee or they are going to put a lien on my house. Very uncool business practice. They have my $192.50 and a bad review. In April 2017 Sam came to my house to give me an estimate. He was very professional and thorough. I did not sign the contract at that time because I was getting quotes from their competitor. Sam followed up monthly with a phone call. In early June I signed and mailed in the contract. I chose this company because they were professional and I felt I would not have to worry about any warranty work should I have leaks from a sun tunnel. 6/14 Tony left me a message letting me know that he got the contract and would contact me to schedule something in 4-6 weeks. 7/12 Tony left me a message letting me know that they are behind schedule, due to a heat wave, and would call back to reschedule. 8/4 Tony and I spoke and scheduled an install for 8/23 8/23 Tony called me in the morning to cancel the install. His installer was injured. He would call back to reschedule. (I had taken the time off of work to be at the house for the install - I am now out a day’s wages). 9/5 Tony calls and leaves me a message. They have had a cancellation and would like to come that day to install. We work and cannot drop what we are doing to get to the house that day. My husband returns the call. 10/5 Tony calls and leaves a message. Want’s to set up an install for 10/17. At this point I have decided that this company clearly has no interest in coming out to install one lousy tube in a timely manner. This job is small and I am being shuffled around. I have a sour taste in my mouth about this and worry that if there was a problem with the tube - how long would it take them to get out to fix the tube. I have changed my mind and no longer want a sun tube in my house. I ignore his call. 11/3 Tony calls to schedule. I ignore his call. 12/14 Tony calls to schedule. States that if I do not call back they will send out a bill for a 25% restocking fee. I never listened to the message - until after I got a bill for $192.50 - with a threat to put a lien on my house if I do not pay the bill. We called and spoke to Tony to no avail.
Response from ST LOUIS SKYLIGHTS
"First, I apologize that the customer lacks confidence in our ability to install our product professionally and has experienced delays in their installation. However, we did contact the customer initially and provided our estimated installation time. Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather or non-work related injuries. In regards to the heat, as a company that prides themselves on providing quality craftsmanship, we cannot allow our employees on a roof that is so hot that mere footsteps damage the roof. In this case, we are in a lose-lose situation....we don't install the unit and we are unresponsive, we install the unit and cause damage to the home, we are incompetent. As far as the injuries are concerned, I think all involved understand that these things happen...I cannot and will not install a product on a customers home without healthy installers. We did our best to get this customer installed and just as the customer stated above, we attempted to contact them multiple times without response. I wish the customer would of contacted me earlier and voiced their frustration with the installation delays. As the owner, customer service is my number 1 priority. I am confident we could of come to a mutual understanding. However, when we attempt to contact a customer and they do not respond, we are left with little options. If the customer would like to contact me directly, I would be more than happy to discuss their frustrations and try to address their concerns."

I manage a rental remotely, so I can't speak to the quality of the work, but the price seemed fair and I assume the installation went well based on no comments from my tenant. I have to ding them a bit for professionalism/responsiveness. I spoke to a member of the field crew on his cell phone to get the quote organized back in Oct 2016. We had a few back and forth calls (minor irritation—pretty standard with a field person, but not too bad). After I got the quote, I sent 1/2 payment and the signed contract and instructions to schedule an appointment with my tenant, but the appointment was never scheduled. About six months later I discovered this, called Premiere Skylights and they expedited the job, to their credit. It would have been better had they done it six months ago, but they did a reasonable job resolving the issue. I would probably hire again, but be more concrete on timing and would insist on coordinating with the office manager. I also assume this wouldn't have been a big deal if I were local and would have obviously noticed that the appointment wasn't scheduled.

The person who put together our estimate was very knowledgeable of the products and services offered, answered all of our questions, and did not try to pressure us at all. There was a bit of a delay in scheduling the replacement, but nothing excessive. The office was very responsive and took care of our concerns very quickly. I would definitely recommend this company.

Professional and timely. New skylights have dramatically reduced the temperature in area with vaulted ceiling and increased the light. Would recommend change to anyone with old dark tinted dome skylights.

Overall the project went very well.  Surprised at how expensive it was originally, but I priced against other companies and the price was far.  Work was very quickly, it took only less than hour.  The skylights were custom made and the price high due to this fact.  The work was subcontracted and was not made aware how long it would take.

They were installed on 02/22/2016, the installer was  (3) hours late but managed to get all of them installed that day in a total of 5
and half hours even though he indicated he got 15 hours pay for the job. When we went out for bids we first got a bid from
Premier skylights  which was $2462 with the $130 Angie's list discount and with the White glass included in the bid. So Saint Louis skylights came back with a matching bid plus 5% cheaper to basically steal the job away from Premier skylights . When the
skylights were installed I said something to the installer that they did not have the white coating  as we had signed in the sales agreement with Saint Louis skylights . I called Saint Louis skylights on 02/29/2015. Tony called me back that day and proceeded to
tell the white glass was not figured into the cost on the sales agreement that their salesman and me both signed. I would think that they would live up to a signed contract that stated on it that "white glass option". Buyer Beware

Response from ST LOUIS SKYLIGHTS
"On Dec 29, 2015, I personally conducted the appointment at this customers home because my residential salesman was out of town. During our initial appointment, the customer did not request white laminated glass. However, during a follow up call with my residential sales staff on 7 January, customer requested his skylights be changed from clear glass to white glass. Customer did sign a proposal with white glass in the description. Our staff failed to adjust the initial project information worksheet and that is why clear glass was initially ordered and installed. We have since returned to the customers home and replaced the units with white glass. For this mistake...I sincerely apologize. As for pricing and "stealing" work from our competitor....price matching strategy is a common practice in the sales arena. Our customers are NOT strong armed into signing a contact. To the contrary, based off of comments on this website, we pride ourselves in providing a consultative sales approach. All customers are free to select an installer. I do not understand the criticism, this customer could have chosen Premier. We simply provide an option and let the customer decide. I am confused as to why the customer took advantage of the discount then criticized us for providing it. In the end, this customer received exactly what was contracted for far less than the original bid. Additionally, we honored not just a price match discount but an Angies list discount as well, which is against company policy. Finally, in regard to our late arrival, we also apologize for the delay. The previous project took a longer than anticipated and we should of called this customer to explain our tardiness. Again, I personally apologize for this delay. I will not comment on an installers pay in this forum only to say the customers comments are not accurate and irrelevant to the quality of work performed."
