Great experience throughout the whole process. They went above and beyond in helping raise our front porch and front stairway. Alan was great to work with during the quote process. Greg and Jake did a great job the day of. Our porch looks so much better. Well worth the money in terms of safety, structural security, and resale value on our house. Can’t say enough great things about these guys. Thank you!

Work from the A1 folks was great, they were on time and worked very diligently, and the finished job looked amazing. The only 'caution' I would note is the communication, they are not the best at getting back at you via email (they might via phone, I am not sure) on a timely fashion, but other than that, work and professionalism is top notch, I would definitely hire them again.

The pool deck slabs were successfully aligned as well as the driveway slabs. The crew worked well and cleaned up nicely afterwards.

Once we connected, they scheduled the appointment, did the work and I paid the bill. All went well and I would recommend them and use them again myself.

Great! It was a small job with no timeline, so A-1 slipped it in when they were in the area. The project was to lift one end of the concrete apron in front of the garage. The asphalt driveway abutting the apron had also subsided, leading to the debate as to lift both surfaces together, or cut the bond between the two and lift only the concrete. The latter option meant more expense on my part to remediate the asphalt void. Fortunately, the A-1 crew made the decision to lift both surfaces together. It was a good call - very professional.

My previous contact with A-1 Concrete Leveling was with the previous owner several years ago.  When I needed work done again, I went back to A-1, only to discover that the previous owner had died, and that Alan Benes was now the new owner.  I was initially concerned regarding the quality of the work under new ownership.  I am now completely satisfied with the fact that Mr. Benes has not only continued with the same level of quality, but has gone beyond it.  Evidence of this was the fact that, when it was discovered that the sliding glass door above the concrete steps which had been lifted was not out of alignment, he arranged to have a door specialist come and reset the door at this own cost.  This was evidence of his integrity and concern for the quality of the work that he and his team provides.

The job was done just yesterday.  I am very please with the way it went.
It took a few attempts to get Alan to come check out the job site to give a bid, but once he was there, i was glad I was persistent in calling 3 times to get him to come out.
Alan made me feel comfortable that he knew what he was doing, he checked everything and answered all my questions.  I am/was in the middle of rehabbing the gardens around the patios, and needed to stop the work to get the patios lifted.  Alan was sympathetic to the fact that I had a crew waiting to finish work until the patios were lifted, and was quick to respond and get his team out quickly to level the patios for us.
The crew that came out was equally as impressive, the two men were polite, courteous and knowledgeable.  They explained everything they were about to do, answered my many questions and concerns with a smile? they were very reassuring and I felt confident they would do a great job and they did.
After they finished filling and leveling the patios, they explained what they had done and what would happen with the drying and the patches.. again very knowledgeable.

I had asked them to be careful of a planting area and they were very careful and showed concern for my plants and belongings. After they were done, the clean up was meticulous!  I was very impressed!!
I will be hiring them again to level steps in the front of the house.

A-1 came out and assessed the porch and patio in early spring 2013 and provided a quote for leveling the two surfaces, at this point they did not identify any concerns about raising and leveling the surfaces. In June, after I decided to go with A-1 I gave them a call to set up an appointment. The associate who answered the call was friendly and informed me that they were very busy due to many days lost to rain, but would put me in their queue and give me a call a week or two before they could get to the work. Sometime in late July I received a call back and scheduled the appointment for early August. About a week later a technician came out and attempted to level the porch, but was unsuccessful, although he did assure me that the porch would not sink further. His reasoning behind the unsuccessful attempt was that there were footers beneath the porch and he couldn't get enough leverage to lift the surface. From my perspective this is an unacceptable response since you would assume a leveling company would be familiar with the type of porch set-up and assess this at the time of original quote or prior to attempting work. If it is a job they cannot complete they should not attempt the work or should offer a remediation plan after a failed attempt. I have not yet attempted to get this resolved, but have a two year warranty on leveling and will attempt to get this resolved. For the back patio the technician said he was successful in leveling the patio and by all accounts he was , but there was a corner of the patio that was cracked, and he could not lift it. This was the case, there was about a 1' x 1' x 1' triangular corner section near the foundation of the house that was restricted from raising. As remediation the technician said he would come back and fill the section with concrete mix. The technician did do this but did not put any forms between the foundation and the patio. Do to the lack of form to keep the mix and foundation separated, the mix adhered to the foundation and the patio and at the low temperature day the patio moved away from the foundation causing the newly poured mix to separate from the patio. So far this experience has not been very disappointing.

I talked to Alan Benes of A1 Concrete Leveling at this years Home and Garden show (March 2014) in downtown St. Louis. He explained the process to fix a sinking driveway, sidewalk and porch. He provided his business card and said if I was interested please give him a call and he would come out for an estimate. I called Alan and he came out and provided an estimate and again explained how the process worked. I selected A1 Concrete Leveling to fix my issues with driveway, sidewalk, and porch. Work was rescheduled twice because of rain. On the third try with no rain indicated for morning the A1 Concrete Leveling technician promptly arrived at stated time and walked me through the entire process. Once I was satisfied with process and had no additional questions the technician began by drilling holes in the porch, sidewalk, and driveway. While he was drilling another technician arrived and began to get the mud jacking material mixed and ready to pump under the three locations (porch, sidewalk, and driveway). At this point I left for an appointment. When I arrived home the process was completed (approximately four (4) hours). The technician walked me around the locations and and explained again what they did and any issues he had and resolved. He explained warranty. Both technicians finished cleaning up yard and street and brought me invoice. I wrote them a check. Very professional and personable technicians. I would highly recommend them.

I was very satisfied with the service and work that A1 provided. Alan was quick to respond to my request for a quote and came out and quoted the job. He listened to my requirements and made several additional points/recommendations to which I agreed. They came out several days later and completed the work to my satisfaction. They did the job quickly and cleaned up the area after they were done. I would use A1's services again and recommend them to anyone who asks.

I cannot comment on pricing as the work was not so costly that I required multiple quotes before making a decision.

Our screen porch was constructed for previous homeowners -- several years after the home was originally built. Although we received a couple of bids that were lower, we chose A-1 based on several recommendations by people we trust.
Three of the four slabs were sinking. It was a difficult situation because walls were built on top of three of the room's four sides -- so project was risky, and I'm convinced less experienced company would increase the risk of structural damage. A-1 went through approximately 1.5 truckloads of material yet couldn't get the edges to level as much as expected. While this was a disappointment, I don't fault A-1. It was simply a tricky project. The contractor offered a $700 discount off the bill, which I took.
I believe they did all they could under the circumstances, and I am pleased with the work they did and the final bill we negotiated. I would definitely recommend A-1 to my neighbors.

The porch is cracked in 1/2, throughout the slab.  The slab is the length of my garage and 4" thick.  It has a crack across the width of the slab (probably 4' in width) and will one day have to be replaced.  I spoke to the person who did the work while he was here.  He implied that it might start cracking over the top and would have to be caulked.  I then waited a few days and called A1, explained the problem, and they stated that they would let a supervisor know.  When a person called me back, once again it was the person who had performed the work.  Consequently, there is no way to negotiate anything regarding what was done here.  I would never use these people again due to how this was handled -- both from the way the work was performed to how it was handled when there was a problem.

If any of what the company responded were true, that would be a sufficient explanation.  However, none of the conversations documented below actually took place.
Response from A 1 Concrete Leveling
"We were contracted to lift the front porch slab. Our Operations manager who completed the work alerted the homeowner that the slab had come up to a level that he thought was as far as he should push it. There was still a minor gap in the post from the overhang on one end of the porch. The issue was relayed to the homeowner explaining that he felt it was as far as it would safely lift. After hearing his thoughts, the homeowner then requested that he try and lift it further to close the last little gap. This is when the slab cracked in the center. This crack did not undermine the porch structure or stability and can be caulked and sealed similar to any normal crack in concrete slabs. Unfortunately, when lifting and adjusting concrete slabs there is always some inherent risk. While cracks are very rare, they do happen and this fact is documented on all of our literature as well as our bid sheets. I have reached out to the homeowner numerous times and have not heard back. I am always happy to discuss resolutions that are amicable for both parties."

A-1 Mudjacking under-estimated the scope of our job because it turns out our porch was not built in a sensible way (standards were different 110 years ago), so the void to be filled was significantly larger than had been estimated.  They continued and completed the job for the original bid.  We paid them a bit extra just because we appreciated their professionalism but it wasn't asked of us.  The only slight complaint is that they were a bit slow to respond initially - it took them a while to return our request for a quote.  But once we had the quote and the work was scheduled, they showed up on time, worked neatly, and got the job done.  No complaints and would use them again.

We had A-1 Concrete Leveling give us an estimate in early 2011 but decided at that time to wait a while. When we called in Late October 2012 they came out and verified the estimate and we set up an ASAP appointment. They arrived for the Appt. on November 15. The two workers were polite and efficient. Both of them worked steadily for 2 hours and checked with us about the progress as it went along and changes neede to be made

I called them to schedule for a quote.  Once I received the quote i followed back up with dave to see how the whole process works.  He mentioned they would not be sure of exact install date since we were in winter with the weather.  after a few weeks i followed back up to get a date and they installed the next day/  Greg showed up to do the job.  He was very nice and did a great job.  They left the driveway clean and free of any debris.
I would recommend them again.
