He did some work for me, and told me it was done right. I took his word for it and paid him. I found out within a day that it would not work. I stopped payment on the check. He wound up suing me. The ruling was that I had to pay him because I did not prosecute him and just stopped the payment. The county inspector testified on my behalf that the work would need to be redone. They told me that they would not be able to cross examine a bill, and since I had no legal paperwork against him, I was still forced to pay him. The lawyer and court fees and additional costs forced me to pay more than double what I initially would have paid.
