We were on the way to MN for a car show when my '72 Lincoln started making a loud noise from under the car. I thought it might be a loose muffler or bad driveshaft u-joint. They got the car up on a lift promptly, but were unable to find the problem. They tried hard and checked what I thought was every possibility, but no luck. I was ready to give up and continue on our journey, but they were not. They were insistent on finding the problem. Eventually they determined that a sensor that was affixed to the driveshaft for the cruise control was hitting the floorboard under certain conditions. They were able to repair it and get us on our way. Many shops would have given up, but they took enough pride in their work that they were determined to fix the problem.
