"Sorry that you did not understand the process in 2019 (year later) , we also talk to you on the phone, email and text serval times. The foreman was out your house that day, you told him it was ok to add extra feet to your house and you were ok to pay it. We sent you a copy of the invoice after we ran your credit card. You knew it was going to be more than what we told you because you added more when we got there. You didn't dispute your credit card till a whole year later, I do not understand why for a whole year????? We told you that you can come pick up your lights anytime you want. And you still can. Why have you not come get them??? It says that on our website that we do not deliver them out to customers. You just choose not to come out and get them because you live 1 hour away. that's ok I get it. They are also no good to us because they are custom fit for your home. sorry you had bad luck with us, the first year. We would love for you to give us another try."

Began with a friendly phone call, went down hill from there. Installation was sloppy and they left a mess of broken bulbs on driveway. I phoned the office to complain and they said they would talk with crew. When the crew came to remove the lights - more like yank the lights of my roof- they left at least another 6 broken bulbs on driveway and numerous broken plastic hangers on roof line and in yard. To top it off, they did not live up to their promises made on their website of leaving lights in a free tote for you for storage. Called office to inquire and complain, was again promised a tote to be delivered within a week, and you guessed, never heard from them again. Please take my advice and DO NOT spend your hard earned money with this so called business. You will be EXTREMELY disappointed with the overall poor service and lack of professionalism!
"I am sorry that your first year experience with our company was disappointing. We appreciate the feedback since we are always striving to maintain a positive experience for our current and future customers. Unfortunately sometimes broken bulbs are left behind by mistake and if that does happen the customers will call us and we will come right out to pick those up if the customer didn’t already do that themselves. As far as the taking down of lights the crews use a pole to remove the lights from the gutters. They push up which makes the clips come off easy. Occasionally there are broken clips and broken bulbs left behind but once again we do come back out and clean that up. They break real easy when it is 20 deg out. We have a lifetime warranty on our products so we always replace the broken bulbs before the next install date free. If we store them we do all the replacements during the off season. On our website it says “Custom Christmas Lighting, LLC can supply red/green storage totes for FREE, or clients may supply their own storage boxes for storage on client premises. Client's must use Custom Christmas Lighting's storage totes if using our off-season warehouse storage.” You were wanting to store your own lights. Only 1% does that. We are sorry that this on the website was not clear enough! We are changing the wording to say." If you are storing the lights we do not give you a tote!" But since we want to make our customers happy we issued a ticket on 1/19/16 (that day after you talked to Mendy on the phone) to have a crew bring out a tote for you to use. We never gave you a date! She did say it might be a week or 2 because we were still working real hard trying to get all the lights down! We all thought we were all on good standing. Unfortunately on Saturday 1/23/16 (4 days later) you submitted a bad review before we were able to get back to your house again. I didn't see the bad review until Mendy brought it to my attention on Monday 1/25/16. I called you left a message to call me back you never did! On 1/27/16 I called you again, I wanted to listen and see what we could do to make it all right with you again. At that point you were too mad to talk, and told me to just forget about the tote, and hung up! Once again we are sorry for the bad experience you had with us but it sounds like it was all a matter of misunderstanding and/or miscommunication, and a couple of broken bulbs. We would hate to loose your business relationship over all this. Please give us a call this winter and see if we can fix all this. Owner: Rick Trieb"
To summarize:
-Expensive $250 just to put lights up (first year was $400 included purchase of lights) which you must pay in advance.
-Not prompt.
-Poor quality, work was incomplete.
-Unprofessional, not a call or even an email to follow up on my issues.
Sorry to say we are extremely disappointed and will never use them again.

There are other installers in our area, and I'll be looking at them next year. It's not worth it to have to worry about half the job not getting done. I really dislike leaving negative reviews. If it weren't for the removal problem we would have continued to use them.
"We do Business all over the KC area. We try to treat all our customers the same, all customers have HOA rules that state they have to have their Holiday lights down by January 15th. Their is no way we can have all of them down in the time they say. We state this on the website. Every year we have them all down by January 30. (15 Years so far) It all depends on the snow and ice. We state on the website that we can not give you a date when they are going to be taken down, a lot depends on the elements of weather and the location of the job, and other circumstances . At certain times of the year all phone lines can be busy at the same time, one line yes, might go to the answering machine. I looked up this customer and we took down the lights on January 18, 2013. We hope to have this good customer again in 2014.”"

When a new customer calls to have Christmas lights installed we ALWAYS give a ball park estimate as close as we can knowing how many lights were put on other houses in the neighborhood. Without seeing the customers house and doing a verbal quote over the phone it is hard to give an exact price but our company does tell the customers it is an average of what to expect. Also the type of bulbs you purchase reflects prices. We are thankful for all of our customers and we really value your ongoing business and support. Once they are exposed to the elements outside once in awhile the customer will get bulbs burnt out. "Sorry, we do not do Ceramic bulbs. I don't even know where you got those at. Our professional company we use in Denver doesn't sell those. Some places like Walmart or Westlake might, but you will have all kinds of issues after you install them. That is why we charge a fee after we install them because we know we will have to come back 3 or more times. Sorry"

I had received a couple of other quotes, and the estimates for the initial year were similar to other estimates, but they are storing the lights over the summer to hang again next year. The price for next year was less than the other quotes I had.
