The project went great. They were on time and the deck looks just like it did before my husband accidentally ripped it off the house.

The project went very well.  Scott was professional and willing to discuss all aspects of the job.  It was not cheap, but you also get what you pay for and I feel like I got very good value for the price, especially considering the size of the job.  Scott personally did a lot of the work himself, which I liked because I knew that the guy I was speaking with was also in charge of how things were accomplished.

Scott was excellent to work with.  The weather slowed the start of the job but all the work was completed in a timely fashion.  Scott was very cooperative and willing to contribute his expertise when we modified the design a bit after the job had started.  His attention to detail and pride in his work was evident throughout the job.  We will retain A2D on our list of trustworthy and reliable contractors who do good work for any future projects!

This job went so well. When Scott came for the initial consult, he understood my concerns about erosion and controlling water around the house. He had some good ideas and i felt he had our best interests as homeowners as his primary concern. He replaced one old retaining wall that was failing and put in two more smaller retaining walls where erosion was becoming a problem. Everything looks so nice. Even though this job wasn't a high profile, showy project, he still gave it his attention because it was important to us. His crews were polite and professional. He met his commitments.

The owner, Scott, gave me a professional and informative consultation. I found his prices a little higher than I expected but the stone edging, flagstone stepping stones, and Ozark rock are very beautiful and were worth it. Things started off great but, unfortunately, quickly took a turn for the worse. Scott got confused about the size of the rock and 5-6 tons of large Ozark rocks were delivered when what we actually wanted was medium. I work from home so I was there when the rock was delivered. Rather than coming to me and letting me know he'd made a mistake, Scott chose to accept the delivery and he and his crew promptly unloaded the truck. I can only assume that he didn't bring the mistake to my attention immediately and made the choice to accept the delivery because he didn't want to spend the money to send the truck back for the right size or to delay the job. When I say the rock was large...I mean large. The rock is pretty but the pieces were just too big and awkward to walk on and the size was not proportionate to the overall look. Plus, because the rock is so big, you could see the matting below. So Scott's solution was to mix medium and small rocks in with the large rock to compensate and add more stepping stones to walk on. I was willing to work with that. So when they came back in a couple of days, I expected the problem would be taken care of. They wrapped up around 2pm that Friday and rushed out of there so Scott could get one of his crew to an appointment. As he was leaving, he told me the rock would look better if I hosed off the dust and told me the name of the rock in case I needed more. I thought it was a bit unprofessional to expect me to hose off the rock myself since it was part of finishing the job and to basically tell me if I needed more rock to buy it myself. He also mentioned in a nice way that the job was costing him a lot more than he'd intended. No real concern about whether or not I was happy or that the look wasn't what I was promised. I lived with the rock for the weekend and spent hours moving smaller rock around to cover spots where I could still see matting around the big pieces and then finding that the places where I was taking the rock from were also bare. I emailed Scott that Monday and let him know I wasn't happy and I wanted more small rock to fill in the many, many spots where I could still see matting. He didn't seem as friendly as in the beginning and again reminded me of how much the project was costing him but he accommodated me and sent some guys out there within a couple of days to add more small rock and take out some of the larger rocks. The quality of the products used was the best part of the project. The design is beautiful and I'm very happy with the outcome. The only reason why I wouldn't use A2D again is because I didn't appreciate not being consulted about the mistake with the rock size until after the fact and Scott's attitude about it when I pointed out that I didn't get what I was promised.

Scott was very prompt in returning my call and coming out to look at my drainage problem.  He was very professional and friendly.  He talked me through the project, what they would do and how they would do it.      I think he did an excellent job.  I am having him bid some additional landscaping work,

"Sorry you felt our price was high. I figure all my jobs on the same percent and man hour rate. We dig all our drains by hand with no heavy equipment on your property. We also guarantee our work. Your job was 2 days like I had stated on your invoice. We did have to break it up because of the sod farms not being able to cut because of moisture. You had $1,149.00 dollars in material cost. The 20ft trough we custom made was $500.00 my cost. I worked 3 men 7 hrs. first day 2.5hrs. second day at the going rate of $45.00 a man hour = $1282.50 total was $2,431.00 I took off 10% for Angie's List Discount Total: $2,188.12 I hope this explains it for you. I always tell people to get at least 3 estimates. Also I'm not always the cheapest but I think I'm one of the best!"

I used them once and did fairly well. But the second time, he would not return my phone calls. So, I did not use them again. The first time, he did what he was supposed to do. I do not know what went on. I mean, because we paid him what he asked and everything else. There were some problems but they corrected them. The part of the design that they were doing, I was unhappy with. I had to point out to them what was wrong with it and they corrected it. The clean-up was okay.

Scott was very professional and curtious. He inspected the mess that the pool contractor left, listened to our needs and scoped the work to maximize what services and work we needed without pushing extra cost into the budget. As the weather dropped towards freezing, Scott and his men came out and hand graded the yard to provide proper drainage, installed the new sprinker lines, replaced a damaged underground downspout drain line, removed the rocks left behind from the pool excavation, added top soil to the area and laid new sod. His crew worked around the problematic weather and were on top of things, getting the job completed quickly.
We will have Scott and his crew back out this spring to work on the landscaping around the pool and finalize the sprinkler installation. They have earned repeat business with us. His pricing is very fair.
Scott does not over-book his backlog and only takes on the number of jobs he and his men can handle, providing quality and personnal service to his clients. His knowledge and experience is demonstrated when you start talking to him and see his final product.

Due to wet weather, we had a mess after having a new driveway installed.  The mess overflowed onto neighbors property, and could get worse if we didn't come up with a solution to stabilize the small hill on our side.  This late in the season, so I wasn't sure that it was going to happen.  I contacted a few companies, and Scott was one who came out to discuss solutions with my S/O while I was out of town.  I thought that his solution was our best shot.  A big bonus was that he had another job that was delayed,  he could get out pretty quickly.  We had a miscommunication due to texting instead of calling(on my part) that created confusion, but once resolved, he was able to take care of my lawn and keep his guys working during their unexpected delay.  It was a win-win.  When I came home from the airport, they were finishing up, and it looked 1000% better.  He was very accommodating about making sure the neighbor's property was covered first, but ended up having enough sod for full coverage.  Scott explained how to properly water it for a better shot at rooting prior to winter which is quickly approaching.  He also gave us a few more pointers on properly caring for the lawn...both the new sod and the rest of the yard.  They did a great job and I will be calling them in the spring to quote on some further work that is needed.

Scott, when providing his estimate, assured us he would have the project complete within a week.  For a while, it was touch and go as to whether that goal could be attained when he was called away for an emergency at another site.  However, with a last moment spurt, the goal was accomplished and the finished product is eye-pleasing and looks to be of a quality that it should last many years.

A drain system was  installed with down spout connections to divert water away from the foundation.  The goal was to keep water from leaking through the crack and leaking in the basement. Ozark rock covering, with desired results, created a nice trimmed look around the foundation, however the drain did not accomplish taking the water away from the crack resulting in continued leaking into the basement.
Unfortunately, due to work already scheduled and in progress,  readdressing the problem took much longer than I felt was appropriate.  However once Mr. Phelps had time, he came back to address the crack in the foundation by totally digging it out, sealing it, and replaced the dirt, put the Ozark rock back in place and redirected the drain.   At this time I feel he truly has done everything he agreed to do and left the yard as neat as he did the first time he was here.   Other than a time lapse in getting back to address the issue, I am more than pleased with the work Mr. Phelps and his fantastic crew have done!   I will definitely call them again for some landscaping assistance in the future!!!     Thanks for making it right!

Several week ago we had some work done on the support system of our basement. In the process, they had to remove the walkway Scott had placed for us some time ago. They also broke some of the stones and left the entire walkway out of the proper alignment.  So, when the foundation company completed their work, I was left with a long walkway in dire need of repair and replacement.
I called Scott and left a messsage regarding the needed work and he called me the next day. I described the problem, and asked if we could add a longer walkway with the repair. He was out with an estimate within two days, and began work on Monday.
He completed the work in two days and added the additional stones, completing the work quickly, He and his crew did a wonderful job, and left the site cleared and clean.
I highly recommend A2DLandscaping. They are prompt, very reasonable, and do excellent work. I am already planning a patio structure and I will use them because of the quality of their work.

Scott and his crew did a great job.  Scott took time to answer our questions and help us plan what needed to be done.  We had a number of projects and they completed all of the work within a week.  They even cleaned up the work areas each day.  We are very impressed with A2D Landscape and Design and highly recommend them.

From beginning to end, the experience was professional and thorough.  The team removed large rocks that had been in that area, dug a large area, and installed the necessary rocks and drain.  They put sod over the entire area.  The workers were professional, punctual, and courteous at all times.  Work was done in a timely fashion on some of the hottest days we have had so far.  The owner was very responsive, and contacted us regularly to let us know the progress. He was also involved in the work. They did this work for us because they are very good and experienced with it, but they are really talented at hardscape projects. I highly recommend A2D Landscaping.

A2D brought several samples of bricks for us to choose the perfect color.  We found a stone that matches our house perfectly.  Every stone was placed with care and procession.  This retaining wall will last for years with no maintenance.

The job had originally been proposed the previous year. Scott was very flexible as to delaying the start of the project to the late spring (I had more structural work that had to be done before the landscaping could be completed). When I contacted him in the spring he got back to me reasonably promptly. Work was slightly delayed on the job because of both my schedule and his, and the weather. However, it was about 90% completed within the time frame I requested.  Scott and his crew worked very hard (admittedly his crew was more diligent when he was on site!) and were usually very tidy. They asked me for my input whenever there was a question. They even tried to save the spring bulbs, which required moving them several times to different places in the garden! From start to finish Scott was professional, considerate, and unflappable. When one of my neighbors raised a fuss about a (nonexistent) problem with the fence line, Scott was a thorough professional, even though the work he had to do to mollify my neighbor meant extra time and effort.  If i have any criticism of the job, it is that the final cleanup was a bit hurried and I was picking up trash for several days after. Considering the size of this job, however, that was a small price to pay--especially since Scott maintained his budget rigidly and never deviated from it. I would definitely recommend him and his company to anyone who needs landscaping.

This was done in a rotten area next to a concrete slab that I had no idea what to do with.  When it wasn't being washed out by rain water, it was full of weeds.   They ran drain pipes out well past the area, brought it all up to the same height as the slab, and topped it all off with bricks.   It looks so nice now!  It is also very solid and well constructed, and was completed in the time frame promised.  My biggest peeve with any sort of construction project I've had done around my house is always been the poor clean-up, but not with these guys!  They went above and beyond, even hauled off a giant pile of rose bush branches I didn't have a chance to dispose of before they started working.  I'm pleased as could be, and will definitely be using them again!

Scott and his team came in, put in a french drain along the shared fenceline, and redirected all the water that was coming into the middle of our yard to the back corner.  My downhill neighbor is very pleased!  And, we are too, of course.  I will definitely use A2D landscaping in the future and would recommend them to everyone.

Scott showed up on time.  Very friendly and knowledgable.  Gave good advice about what would benefit us the most and how we could add on to it in the future. It was refreshing to see someone who was sincerely concerned about our needs and meeting them.   Prompt at returning calls.  Did an excellent job!
