$28,000
We’ve had over $28,000 worth of work done by Excel Window and Door since February. Most of the work was impressive, and I’ve never had better workers in my home. This changed on the final day for an upstairs window expected to take a full day including building scaffolding to reach the project. That need required an extra $1400 on the bid. Instead, they did not need scaffolding to do the work, took less than half a day since they were gone by 11:00, and this included a trip to the hardware store. They then proceeded to charge me an extra $120 for that trip. I caved to the worker’s pressure to write a check that day for all of it without even seeing the work. The corners of the windows do not even match soundly. We have communicated with the owner, and he said there would be no refund of $1400 for the unnecessary scaffolding. He says we agreed to that on the bid. Our confusion then is why we paid the extra $120 the day of. He said it was actually $116 something and would send us a check for $3. It’s not the money. It’s the disappointment that a seemingly good company took advantage of us in the end and left us with poor workmanship. The good workers for Excel are really good, but be careful of the others. It’s unpredictable what you’ll get.

They were providers for the type of windows that we have. It’s quite a ways away from where we live, so they came a distance to do our windows. I was satisfied. They had to order the product, so it took longer than I wanted it to. I don’t recall the price, I remember it being kind of pricey, but they were the only providers in the area for our specific brand of window, we didn’t have a choice. They are a small company. They are easy to work with. Just one worker from beginning to the end. They do good work. It was limited on what they did for me.

They did a good job for us. They weren't the cheapest, but that's okay because they did a good job.

We had a large number of windows where the insulated glass seals had failed. The glass was under warranty, but we needed someone to do the labor. Chris Whorton came out to give us an estimate and went over the entire house with us. He discovered several more windows whose seals had failed, and we ordered those as well. We would have lost out on the warranty for those windows if Chris had not pointed them out.
Excel handled the measuring, ordering and installation of the glass. It was a big job - they replaced 21 pieces of glass in one day, cleaned the windows they installed, and picked up all the mess.
We were very pleased and would definitely use them again.

They were very good. They do the work exactly as they say. They exceeded my expectations. You pay more, but you get what you pay for.

I called the company and they came out and gave me a bid. There is $25 fee for the bid . The fee is applied to the work. They replace molding for 2 windows. The installer did a excellent job.

I had several windows that needed replaced due to wood rot and a seal that was leaking. Made an appointment with Chris W. to come out and discuss options, I told him I wanted a window that wouldn't rot and have a low E glass. Chris arrived as scheduled and recommended a solution which I accepted and scheduled the replacement. A few days later I found our bathroom window also had moisture between the panes, Chris came back out, measured and provided a price to replace the glass. He indicated that the window didn't need replaced. I also ordered the glass replacement and scheduled all three to be done at the same time. The price was as advertised and they actually did some other repairs at no charge.

They measured everything and ordered the windows. They did a great job with the installation. They were fairly priced too, and we didn’t have any issues. I would definitely hire them again.

He was very professional and got the job done quickly. We had quit using this door to our deck because it was such a hassle. Now it works like new.

EXCEL Window did a great job. They showed up on time and were clearly knowledgeable about the process from start to finish. They took care of the wood rot found and educated us about things that were done wrong with the original widow installation. Winter installation was not much of a problem. Interior doors were kept closed in the room they were working in. Everyone on their team was courteous and professional. They removed the old windows and cleaned up nicely.

They started doing the work and it was good at first, but then when they tried putting the new door in the problems started because they didn't do the concrete work correctly. They didn't fill the holes with the right material because they just used white glue. An honest company would not try to cover up the problem by putting a new door over bad concrete, but would come to the customer and tell them of the problem and how to fix it. They also didn't put the screen on correctly. I'm supposed to have a 1 year warranty with the work but haven't received that yet, and I was told by Excel that they would send the 1 year warranty through the mail. I also never threatened them with a gun as the president and his distributor said, and they never set an appointment. So at this point I wouldn't use them again or recommend them to others!
Response from EXCEL WINDOW & DOOR INC
"Excel is a window and door company. We do window and door repairs and installations. The member hired us to install an Andersen patio door. We were not hired to do any concrete work at her residence as she states. The white glue that she refers to is the sealant that is recommended by any window and door manufacturer to place between the surface where you are installing the door and the bottom of the door threshold. This keeps any water from the exterior from blowing and/or leaking between these two points of the installation. The member said her screens were not installed correctly. She also stated to us that her husband tried to fix them himself. Excel offered to return to the member's house and schedule an appointment, but when doing so we were threatened if we came out there as she would have a gun. This case was turned over to Andersen Windows to cover under their manufacturerʼs warranty. Andersen also refused to return due to the threats by the member. Excel Windows and Andersen Windows do not take the threats of the member lightly. We refuse to send any persons of our organizations back due to her threats. Chris Whorton, President."

The owner, Chris Whorton, is extremely knowledgeable, His crew is punctual, works quickly and efficiently, clean up their messes and really seem to have a lot of experience replacing windows. Have used them many times for window replacement and have always been pleased.
