Our house had tile in the front, wood floors put in in the 1980's (?maybe) in the front of the house and wood flooring also put in about 2000 (back of the house). The wood flooring color had aged differently and some areas needed to be redone. In addition, tile in the front hall was taken out and wood floor put in and all three areas were stained and sealed to match. The front entry was laid perpendicular to the two rooms off of the entry, but it was set off by a border and a walnut strip, so it looks wonderful. Tim and Pat were meticulous in their clean up and were careful to cover everything. They were easy to have in the house and worked with me to make certain I was able to do what I needed to do, while also completing the job. Tim gave me clear instructions on how to maintain the floor and how to also protect it from damage. In addition to the flooring, they also replaced the painted baseboard. This was Tim's suggestion and it was a great idea. The new floor looks much "richer" then the old floor and the almost 60 year old baseboard (narrow and dinged up) would not have looked good.

Pat and Tim deliver on their promise. They are meticulous, hard-working, reliable, and a pleasure to work with. I have used them for two projects and I would definitely use them again.

Working with Tim and Pat was truly a pleasure, and could not have been an easier experience.  Tim is the contact person, and is so quick to respond to any questions - it's truly unbelievable of a contractor.  He sold me on his sales call to my house with his trusting personality, and I am so glad he did.  Tim talked me through every step of the process, and gave me step my step details on what would happen, etc.  It was the easiest/painless process ever.  They worked long days and completed the job in a timely manner.  Tim continues to answer any questions that I have and wants to make sure that the hard work he puts in is not only worth it for him, but for the value of our home too!  I truly appreciate the work Tim and Pat did to renew our home with hardwood flooring :)

Fantastic job!  The work performed by Pat and Tim went as outlined in our contract.  They were always on time and very efficient. 

It was obvious to us that they were very conscientious and took great pride in their work.  They assisted us in determining what grade of wood to use in our home.   We really did not have that much dust throughout the process as they put plastic coverings over door openings, etc.  After the hardwood was nailed down, it had to be sanded several times.  When it was time to decide on a stain color, they put down several sample stains on the floor so that we could see exactly how it would look.  We chose nutmeg which turned out even more beautiful than we had imagined.  The next step was the finishing coats.  All went well.  In addition, we were given self-adhesive furniture pads to put on the feet of our furniture so that the furniture would not scratch the wood.  We were also given a mop and a special cleaning solution, and we were told how to use the hardwood cleaning solution on our new floor.  We are extremely satisfied with Pat and Tim and would hire Patrick May Hardwood Floors again.  We highly recommend them.  Our floors are beautiful!

Pat installed our new prefinished hardwood floors back in 12/2011. We had a small 2-3 inch edge of a board in our kitchen in which the top layer was buckling or such, and needed repair. I noticed it a while ago, but never got around to calling Pat to come out and fix it. When I did call, Pat was pretty busy with jobs, but I told him I was fine waiting a few weeks until it was convenient for him to stop by and do the repair.

Pat and his partner Tim came by today and promptly completed the repair, cleaning up great after their work, and did it all for no-charge!

I'm not sure if the issue was something we caused or a manufacturing defect, but Pat made no issue about it and was glad to make the fix for no-charge. The new board he installed blends in great, and we are again very pleased with his work! Great after the sale service for sure!

I would definitely use Pat for any future hardwood floor needs, and strongly recommend him to friends, family, and anyone else!

After using May Hardwood Flooring, I would not use anyone else for hardwood. Patrick and Tim were extremely professional. The did an outstanding job, removing my old floors and installing the new ones. They were very knowledgeable about every detail. I feel like they went above and beyond, resolving any problems that popped up. I can confidently say that they are probably one of the BEST contractors I have ever used.

Pat removed our old kitchen tile, carpet in the living room and pergo flooring in our hallways. He installed 12x12 ceramic tile in the kitchen - subway pattern. He also installed Acacia hardwood floors in our living room and hallways. The tile perfectly compliments the hardwood flooring and the transitions are seamless. We couldn't have asked for more and the floors still look great after 3 years.
We are extremely satisfied with the quality and workmanship!

WOW!!! Tim responded to my phone call about refinishing our floors. The next day we had a written proposal. After viewing three other bids, we chose May Hardwood Floors. We were given a start and finish date and a check call the day before just to make sure everything was alright. On time, Tim, Pat and Matt were there waiting for me. They were fantastic. Professional, prompt, and very polite. Tim and his associate left for another job. Pat and Matt went right to work. Taped everything and started sanding. They selected three colors and my wife and I chose the one they suggested. The next morning they finished sanding and stained the floor. After they stained it they did a first coat seal with a commercial sealant. Thurs morning they finished the job and WOW is it neat. Pat and Matt not only cleaned up what little mess they had but cleaned some of mine as well. Our floors look fantastic. This proves to me that you don't have to be first on the list nor be a large company. May Hardwood Floors is dedicated to being great, not just good. And they certainly proved it to me. We received Patrick May's name from a painter that we were using. He told us that he had seen his work and was very good and that he blocked off all that he could when he refinished floors so that the dust is kept to a minimum. We contacted Tim May, Pat's Uncle, and he showed up quickly and gave us an estimate in a couple of days. We went ahead with them without shopping around.
They went over everything in great detail explaining the process. I thought I wanted to stain the floors darker but they told me that they can become blothchy since the wood is maple. They left it up to us on the decision and if we wanted that they would do their best. They even gave us some test samples on the floor to decide. We ended up staying with the natural maple. I am so pleased that we did. They worked on our stairs the first week. It was a bit of a challenge since it had carpet running down the center of them there was some fading on the wood itself. They did an awesome job staining them to try and get them more even. They worked on the floor the second week. They moved our frig and a few other items for us. And they were adimet that they move the frig back so we wouldn't mess up the floor. I had called them on a Fri and they were out Fri afternoon and stayed after 5 to get the frig moved and the base shoe on. They have went above and beyond. They capped our water line in the bathroom since it was leaking.
Patrick finished a tile job I had started in the bathroom. The tile is on the walls and up 42 inches. I wanted to do this project myself but our time constraints didn't allow this. Being my first time doing it I was pretty slow. We asked Patrick and he was willing to stay later a few nights and finish it for us.
I can't say enough how great these guys are. They do an awesome job and I would recommend them to anyone. You won't regret calling Patrick May Hardwood Floors.

Patrick first set up plastic and other barriers to block dust. Then he sanded the floor. We were able to be in the house while this all was going on. Next day came the staining and finishing and the third day involved just finishing up, cleaning up and taking down the barriers. There was only about one 3 hour period where it was recommended that we stay out of the home. The work done was great, looked beautiful and caused minimal inconvenience to our family. We were very impressed.

Patrick is a delight to work with and got everything done in a timely manner. He cut the hardwood to a curved line in a few places where required and it was an excellent job. Highly recommended.

We learned about Pat May from our realtor and had called him to provide an estimate for refinishing the floors and doing some repair work. Pat came on time and provided us with a quote the next day. His prices were great compared to many others highly reviewed businesses on Angie's. Although he was not on Angie's, we decided to go with him as we had heard all the right things about him. We were not disappointed!
We agreed on the start date (this was dependent on our other contractor finishing some projects) and Pat made a couple of visits in between to see how our other project was going. He also gave us a wide choice of stains to pick from and demo'ed how the wood would actually look after staining and polishing to help us make our mind. He does a good job of explaining how the process works and what we could expect during this time.
Once the project started, Pat was always on time and worked with full concentration and devotion. It was clear he has a lot of passion for his work. The attention to detail was great, he made sure that the final product looked flawless. The floors were a mess when he started. These were carpet covered and had a lot of scratches and needed some repair because of all the remodeling going on. After he got done with them, they look great. Everyone, including the contractor doing our bedroom and bathroom remodeling were full of compliments for the floors and his work. Pat also installed the baseboard trim very neatly. The living area, kitchen and bedroom now has that 'upgraded' feeling and looks great!
The process was painless and was done very professionally. There was no dust (very well contained) and he had prepared us for the noise and the smell (of the stains) so well, that when the time came, we were ready and it did not feel so bad. Pat has a lot of experience working on floors and it showed in his work.
We plan to use him again for our backsplash tile work in our kitchen.
