"This customer has a American Home Shield home warranty, and County Plumbing is subcontracted to represent this home warranty company to diagnose and make repairs IF AUTHORIZED. The Angie's list member who was serviced by us had previously agreed to a no refundable diagnosis fee to be paid to the "service provider." That's us at County Plumbing in this case, We diagnosed this shower valve as needing to be caulked around the handles because body splash water was getting behind the un-caulked trim rings and then dripping behind the wall and the water finding a way out by the means of the least path of resistance. So the customer has a leak below the shower, we diagnose it as needing caulked, and we collect the service fee due for the diagnosis, and then we call the failure into the home warranty company and request authorization to make the needed repairs. American Home Shield tells the technician that "caulking is not covered under their warranty coverages" So, at that point American Home Shield calls the homeowner immediately and details the "denial" to the homeowner so that if questioned about coverages that the appropriate representative can explain their warranty coverages. We at that point sit in the van and fill out a invoice and detail what we accomplished and provide a invoice representing we collected their service fee and take it to the customers door. This Angie's list customers complaint is misdirected, County Plumbing is not who denied them service, their own warranty did not authorize service to be completed. As far as the van running.... I'm lost on that one, it makes no sense that it would have occurred but if it did there must have been a legitimate reason and it had no bearing on the final outcome as the yes or no on the repair does not come from us. Please look up American Home Shield Home Warranty denials on any web search and you will see the exact same complaint by others. Thank You, Jeffrey Pate County Plumbing LLC"
"We were dispatched a service request and we made the appointment with this customer. The homeowner did call us because the dispatch came through and then canceled out by the same means it was dispatched to us, so we did not respond to it. We calculated it as a failure that was immediately corrected by the homeowner. So the customer calls and is angry she has not been contacted and we explained it to her and she just wanted a appointment, we scheduled her the next appointment available. After that phone call we called her warranty company, American Home Shield and inquired why the cancel came through and that the customer still needed service. The warranty company said the job is re opened and you can go out and diagnose the problem. On Monday the day we were scheduled to go out between 12-4 we recieved another cancel on the work order and we called in to the warranty company and challenged the validity of that and they stated "this was canceled by homeowner, they want a different contractor of choice" We acknowledged that as the homeowners personal request for a different contractor which was someone that had probably been used before with a good result and let it be. And later that day the warranty company called us to ask why we did not make the scheduled appointment and we answered with the exact same answer as given here and they agreed that this was the homeowners fault that County Plumbing did not respond to this request and I personally requested to make sure a different contractor was dispatched to the customer could achieve their initial desire, a different contractor whom had been used before was dispatched. This is a misdirected complaint as the complaint should be directed to whom they contracted with not us. Thank You, Jeffrey Pate County Plumbing LLC"
"Homeowner has a American Home Shield home warranty on their home, we are a subcontracted local company who responds to service requests placed by homeowners and provide a diagnosis to their warranty company and at that point we request authorization to accomplish the work and provide a estimate to the home warranty company. I was the responding party to this work request submitted by homeowner to their warranty company. I found that their washing machine drain stand pipe was clogged and rusted shut because the house had recently been purchased and the drain probably dried out and then rusted shut. I proposed to the warranty company to open the concrete floor and replace the under concrete trap and re concrete the floor. The work was approved, and when we arrived to do the work the homeowner had another person (a family member) who was working on installing a new kitchen upstairs, and he stated the homeowner wanted a call, so he was called. He wanted a estimate to install a new kitchen stack and drain pipe before the cabinets were installed. We estimated it at 1800.00 and he was appalled stating he was being gouged and overcharged. I did try and break it down and give him a explanation and tell him we would pull a permit and need a inspection and this included installing the kitchen sink as would be required by the local inspector. He still had a different direction since he said to me that he had used a different plumber on his last house and it cost him 800.00 and I should do it for that. I declined and he had me removed from the whole job including the work I had previously gotten his warranty company to authorize. He had his warranty company send him a check for the 500.00 I had agreed to do the initial work for. We did not do anything as far as work here with the exception of making a diagnosis and a estimate. This customer tried to make me install a kitchen drain stack and drain assembly for 800.00 or lose both jobs, I chose to lose both jobs. I do not understand why any complaint from this homeowner is even recognized ad valid since like I said no work was done and he even got a check for 500.00 based off my diagnosis on his laundry drain trap that was rusted shut. I had forgotten about this customer and I'm sure this work was done by a unlicensed plumber or a handy man for 800.00 that is a ridiculous price. Thank You, Jeffrey Pate, County Plumbing LLC."
"Homeowner has a American Home Shield home warranty on their home, we are a subcontracted local company who responds to service requests placed by homeowners and provide a diagnosis to their warranty company and at that point we request authorization to accomplish the work and provide a estimate to the home warranty company. Customer placed a work request, I responded and found a 120 year old home that had a leaking pipe inside a concrete encased wall. CONCRETE ENCASED WALL. Sorry just wanted to be clear there, I called it into the home warranty company and they were unfamiliar with the term for a material called Gunnite. Gunnite is a sprayed on material that is used on a weather bearing wall and it appears to have the same consistency as plaster of paris to match the other walls in the home. So the home warranty company is completely unknowing what gunnite is and directs us back to the home a few times to further diagnose the wall and how to access it, we even ran a camera down the pipe and called in the findings to the home warranty company. Ultimately after multiple visits which were directed by the home warranty company the homeowner received a big fat check to have the work done at their discretion they called it a "cash in lieu of a repair" a buyout. So since I was merely the pawn of the warranty company returning at their direction to get them the information they wanted time and time again how does County Plumbing bear the negative result of the homeowners inconvenience for this Angie's list complaint? We called it from the beginning that the wall would need accessed as if it was solid concrete and this home is a historical home to boot and the warranty company was in a pickle on what to do. We again do as we are told, we did miss calling the homeowner back timely at one time on this and it did cost a few days delay but that again is directly attributed to awaiting further direction from American Home Shield. Please redirect this complain to the primary company not the subcontracted company who only does as told. Thank You, Jeffrey Pate, County Plumbing LLC"
