C & D MOVING

I was looking for a moving company and didn't even know where to start. I hadn't used Angie's List in awhile so figured I might as well start there. C & D was the moving company closest to where I lived and they had a good (albeit old) review so I gave them a call. Dan gave me a ballpark estimate ($350-450) over the phone based on what I told him about the apartment and where I was moving and then set up an appointment to come by and give me a quote for how much it would cost to move. He showed up on time and did a quick walk through of the  apartment. Then he quoted me two amounts: the first was how much the move would cost me if I packed everything myself ($350) and the second was how much the move would cost me if they packed everything for me ($450). They would supply all of the boxes, the truck, and the manpower for the move. I called them about a week later to schedule the move. Moving day (2 May 2011) was an amazing experience. I ended up working all weekend and getting asked to work on Monday as well. I was not prepared to move (meaning I had not cleaned at all) and now I couldn't even be there to over see it. I was a little nervous so I asked my dad to standby and answer any questions they had in my place. Turns out, I was worried for nothing. They showed up on time at 8 am ready to get to work. The dirty dishes in the sink didn't even slow them down, they loaded the dishwasher and ran it while they were packing the bedroom and then unloaded the dishwasher and packed the (now) clean dishes. I was released from work early which made it possible to oversee the upacking at my new apartment. Once they arrived at the new place (St Charles) they got right to work again. They unpacked boxes and furniture. They rearranged furniture for me a few times until it was exactly how I wanted it. When they unpacked boxes they tried to put it exactly as it had been in my old apartment (unless I requested otherwise). From start to finish, the entire ordeal lasted maybe 7 hours and I didn't have to lift a finger if I didn't want to. They started at 8 am in Farmington and were closing up the truck and leaving at 3 pm in St Charles. Nothing was broken. Nothing was missing. The moving crew, which included Dan Todaro, the guy who initially gave me the quote, were efficient and professional. I will definitely use this company again in the future.
