Flooring
The installation went well. He was responsive to my comments and I needed very little additional cleaning up. I had originally thought about installing wood flooring so had a couple of companies bid on that. Because of an uneven floor surface, I finally decided simply to go with vinyl plank which was more flexible. I would note that when a company came to give a bid on the wood flooring installation, they commented positively on the vinyl tile that had been installed by Steve Spaeth in the kitchen and hallway. (Since that person also installs vinyl tile, I appreciated that feedback on the work done by this company.)
Carpentry isn't a strength of this company and he was forthright with that, noting that I might need to have someone else trim doors if needed-- though he did trim the back door for me after the hallway installation. The vinyl tile installation was superb, however, and at a much better price than the nearest bid. The previous two jobs were installation of 552 square feet of luxury vinyl tile in the kitchen, front room, and two hallways. In that job too, he also took away carpet and previous vinyl tile, installed underlayment, and supplied the vinyl adhesive. This was at a cost of $1326. The second job was a smaller smaller vinyl tile installation in a bathroom approximately 70 square feet at a cost of $150.
I was very pleased with this company overall. Steve was professional in his work and manner and -- in terms of competitive bids-- gets an A+ on price.
