Terrible experience. Worst service received from any Minnesota company - and that goes for pre-purchase, in the store, and even after sale. Do not go to Performance Pool if you can avoid it. Here is what happened: We have an above-ground pool in Jordan, Minnesota, and were interested in buying a pool treatment system that would maintain water quality and sanitation, as well as limit algae growth. We confirmed with Performance that they carried the system we wanted before driving the 40 minutes there from Jordan. They assembled the components, and twice we asked "Is this all we will need?", to which they replied "Yes. That's all. You have everything you'll need." We got home to learn they had only sold us pool sanitizers and the like but had not even given us the necessary dispenser for everything - the key component - meaning we'd spent $200 for nothing and wasted our time with a 1hr and 20 minute roundtrip. We called them back, and after an exchange, they promised on Monday, July 3, that they would order what we in fact had needed in the first place, and that it would be in on Wednesday, July 5. They would call us on Wednesday, they said. We received no phone call on Wed, or on any other day from them. When we called them yesterday, Saturday, they had not even ordered the promised dispenser at all. In asking why they never called us, they claim to have ordered the wrong part as though that explained why they didn't bother even to tell us that. Totally non-responsive. We drove the 40 minutes back there again just yesterday to return everything, given the lack of customer service or concern. The treatment in the store at that time was even worse, if you could imagine. The salesperson(Ted) told us to "Just order it from Amazon", after expressing a high degree of indifference to the service we'd received and the time they had wasted. He could not have had a more sarcastic tone. The manager (Jack) was standing right there when the salesperson sarcastically told us to order from somewhere else, said nothing/did nothing, and neither one of them so much as offered to put in a re-order(not that we would have wanted it from them anyway). The final insult came when the salesperson swiped our credit card for the refund, and no kidding, literally tossed it over the counter at us. We felt this business surely has an owner who ought to care about this kind of dis-service, but for our part, we will never come there again and will never recommend them to anyone. Terrible performance. Terrible service

I called Performance Pool and Spa on a Monday to schedule a technician service call and after taking my credit card information was informed that the technician would probably be there on Wednesday.  I was not given a time frame or definite date of the service call.

On Wednesday, I come home to find an invoice for more than $700 for work performed.  The company never contacted me to obtain authorization for the work or to discuss what was wrong with my spa.  The invoice indicated that they would charge the credit card on file.

Because this is an older spa, I was not sure I wanted to spend any additional money on the spa for an expensive repair.  Accordingly, I called Performance Pool and Spa to complain that they performed this work that I didn't authorize and may not even have wanted.  I was told that this is "how they do business".

I requested that I be put in contact with the technician so that I could discuss the spa and whether it made sense to do a repair given the condition of the other components.  The office refused to put me in contact with the technician and indicated that my options are either to pay the bill or have the technician come out and remove the new pump.  When I indicated that I would want to know the specific day and time range that the technician would come out, the office indicated they would not provide me with the information.

Without talking to the person that looked at my spa, I am not sure how we are expected to make an informed decision on this repair.  I would not recommend using this company. Taking my credit card, not providing a service call time range (so I could not be present for the service call), performing work without authorization (with planning to charge it to my credit card) and then refusing to let me talk to the technician regarding the work completed are very shady business practices.

I called in very early in the spring to get our pool cover cleaned, the pool opened and running and to establish regular weekly maintenance ("I never want to touch the pool").
What we got was nothing but a complete runaround.
After many calls that end in "that's the other department", or "you must not have signed up for this", or "that's another location", I got fed up and gave up.
Without a doubt one of the worst run companies we have worked with.

Everything went great as long as I was buying whatever they were selling.  As soon as what they sold me broke, I have not been able to get anyone to my home to fix my pool. More specifically, in December of last year, my 15 month old $10,000 pool cover fell into my pool.  Within days, I had emailed pictures to my service rep asking what to do.  He said they could do nothing until the snow and ice melted, but that I should call my insurance agent.  I did that immediately.  As of April 10, the pool was accessible.  I called and emailed repeatedly  and someone was only sent out on May 16.  That person did not remove the cover to evaluate what may have caused the cover to fail, but rather, only gave me an estimate to fix the cover.  I called to complain that I could not make a decision about what to do until I knew the total cost to fix it, and was told to fill my pool to see if it held water and call them back.  So I did.  On May 16th.  My pool is now holding stagnant water with a collapsed cover in it and has been for over 10 days.  Every time I have been called, I have been told I am on the 'asap' list.  Today I actually said "how can anyone asap-er than someone who has a health and safety issue in their yard and has for 6 months?"  Sadly, I think the answer to that question is "the people who we can still sell stuff to"

Performance Pool and Spa serviced our swimming pool and spa for the whole swimming season.  |We enjoyed working with them and their work was usually professionally done.  They were efficient, but a couple of times were too fast and missed checking things that should have been done. The service department was very responsive when reminded about the items that were missed.

Wish they would've explained better how to do stuff with pool since we were new owners. But they did a great job installing our new salt water system and send emails every year at the right times to open and close pool with an easy way to schedule them to come.

This job was a night mare and still is. They installed in a rush. They did NOT fix the rusted wall panel. They did NOT use the proper liner lock to hold in the liner. The result was a ruined liner that caved in, leaked all water in the spring and ruined my concrete decking. There is also a hole in the liner from sharp debris that was not fixed after the install. They did not respond to desperate calls to save my pool and a new contractor came and fixed it. They hired a lawyer to go after the money for install. They collected half at the start and wanted the rest. The owner never came out at the time of the install to look at the problems. My pool is ruined.

"Because this is in regards to a suit that was initiated by Performance Pool & Spa we do not feel that it is appropriate to comment on this issue. With that said you can see that this does not reflect the vast majority of our customers."

Their work people are generally a little flap dash and they are not terribly fastidious about their work. They left some equipment outside the spa. It was the day before the first major snowfall and we didn't know that it was a piece of our equipment. It was the netting that you use to fish out the water. We didn't know they left it and it was there until spring, which was not good. Their work was quite average. The price was neither good nor bad. It did take a few calls to get them to respond.

We've used them on and off over the last several years and we've had them for at least two visits over the last year. We had an excellent experience with them. They did the work exactly as billed and exactly as they had quoted.

They do fine work. They are my regular pool provider so they do any kind of maintenance as well as shutting down the pool at the end of the season. They are familiar with my equipment.

They are an honest company. I was going to get a deal on a pool sweep and there was a $50 allowance for my old pool sweep; they were the only company out of four that were honest enough to honor this. The work they do is first-class and their price is right in there with everyone else?s.

Pool heater had been finicky; wouldn't come on at all or would come on then turn off. This company is my default "pool guy" so after I realized that I couldn't solve the problem on my own, I gave them a call. The guy I spoke with said that he would check the schedule and see if he could get someone out in the next few days, and would keep me posted. I was called shortly thereafter that I would likely have someone out later that day. A few hours later I was called ... repairman on the way to the house. When I arrived (from work), they were already working on it. Problem solved within 30 minutes or so. I have used this company extensively for the 18 years I have owned a pool; they always treat me well.

There was a $200 rebate for a pool sweep that other companies were only offering a $50 rebate for. I liked their honesty.
