For more than thirty years, Metric Auto Works Inc. has been the Twin Cities source for import auto repair and diagnostics. When Chris Huntington acquired Metric Auto Works Inc. in 1999, he was determined to build on an already solid reputation and take Metric to the next level making it a premier import repair shop. After adding several employees, Chris solidified his reputation as the 'go-to guy' for import enthusiasts, taking care of not only the basic needs of his customers and their cars, but also meeting custom requirements for those import owners who do not just drive cars, but have a relationship with their automobiles. We focus on providing quality and complete service at reasonable prices. We stand behind our parts and services with a two-year or 24,000-mile warranty on most repairs .

They keep track of their work and know cars really well. We tend have high mileage cars, we get a new car then run it forever and they've been very helpful in keeping them running. We just got rid of a car that had 275,000 miles on it and we were able to do that because they always did the work in maintaining the car.

They were fabulous. I waited for it and they had a nice place that had internet and I did emails. They were finished within an hour. They told me a few things needed attention. They also changed my license plates. It was a great experience.

Out of the blue, my son recommended Metric as an option if my car needed service someday since the dealership no longer serviced SAABs to our liking (we may have a few in the family). My car wouldn't not start that evening as forwarned by an intermittent CEL. The DIC was the likely culprit and Metric replaced the part. A week later the CEL was gone but, same thing happened. Metric replaced the part again, thinking it was defective. Yep, a week later, it did it again. So the next option was to replace a much cheaper thrust injector. Metric took care of the costs of the second and third trip. Car is running like new again with no CEL. Not sure if both were bad or just the injector. Diagnostics can be tricky so we will try them again as they stood by their service.

As usual, the work was first rate. Chris, the owner, also helped diagnose a steering problem for free (out of round tire). I have given Chris many thousands of dollars for fixing my BMW 530 and eurovan, but saved me many, many, many thousands by not going to the dealer.

I started using them after reading good reports on the Car Talk website and I have been very satisfied with their repairs and service. They are competent and efficient. They provide estimates that are fair and competative. They are honest about what is important to do right away and what can be done later. I have used many dealers and independents over the years and never found one I trusted completely. Metric Auto has earned my trust. They are honest, fair and competative and treat their customers with respect.

Complete inspection after going to chain repair center; felt they could properly inspect and repair my VW Golf.  On second visit for tires, they transported me to nearby bakery (cold and snow weather and I was going to walk) while I waited for work to be done.

Easy to schedule appointment, they were able to work around limits in my schedule. Their work was done on time. They identified a couple additional issues with the car and and provided me with options for fixing them and potential issues with not fixing them (no pressure either way). I opted to fix one and live with the rattle from the other until the next maintenance. Their work has held up, the car has run well with no issues since their work.

It went great. They were very quick. He gave me options on how I could save money. They finished on time and didn't try to sell me on stuff I didn't need. They are very friendly and they do a good job of working you into they're schedule. They can usually get me in the same day. All in all it was a great experience.

CHRIS IS GREAT. HE AND HIS TEAM FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG AND FIX THE PROBLEM. HE HAS STEERED ME AWAY FROM WORK THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER ELSEWHERE (OIL CHANGE) AND IS HONEST ABOUT THE TIME A JOB WILL TAKE. MY ONLY MILD CRITICISM IS THAT HE IS SO POPULAR, IT IS SOMETIMES TOUGH TO GET THE CAR LOOKED AT. HOWEVER, CHRIS IS ALWAYS HONEST ABOUT TIMING IF I CALL ON THE PHONE, SO THAT I CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

SERVICE ONLY FOREIGN CARS, AND TOM IS A SAAB EXPERT. THESE GUYS ARE TOTAL GEAR-HEADS, BUT VERY PROFESSIONAL AND TRUSTWORTHY. MY DAD NOW DRIVES 45 MILES OUT OF HIS WAY TO HAVE HIS CARS SERVICED HERE.
