Expert Asphalt Inc.

Expert Asphalt was great. We talked to other companies but they were only willing to quote a full driveway replacement. Expert Asphalt didn't think our driveway was in that bad of shape and quoted adding an overlay of the 3" of asphalt. They saved us a lot of money. Crew was quick and clean. Driveway looks brand new and we've had no issues.

The service was very good. Due to the weather (lots of rain) this year, it was delayed a bit, but that really wasn't an issue for us. The person at Expert Asphalt was very communicative of what was going on and when we could expect them to come. We were very happy with the work they did for us.

Expert Asphalt was the low bidder for a reason: Poor workmanship and didn't stand behind their mistakes. The driveway had ripples (like small rolling waves), subsurface was not dealt with so problems came back in the same places, and not the proper expansion joint at the house so in the spring our house wall heaved up. We should have listened to the other asphalt companies when they said we had poor soil in several places and they recommended taking it out and replacing it with gravel. We didn't listen to them and hired Expert Asphalt, big mistake. In less than a year the same problems came back in the exact same places, the cracking and the heaving, soon to be followed by the crumbling. We couldn't even get them to come back to fill the cracks and had to get someone else to do it. Luckily we sold the house before we were back to square one with a driveway that was falling apart again.

They were responsive and on time. They followed directions concerning some special issues I requested. One issue did surface concerning a coupon in a newspaper flyer advertising $150 discount for replacing an existing driveway.  They insisted that because I was only replacing half of the driveway I was not entitled to the discount. In the end we compromised on a $50 discount. They did honor another coupon for the seal coating. Other than this I was very satisfied with the work. It was obvious they new what they were doing and conducted themselves very professionally.

Our association decided it was time to repave our back parking lot (space for 8 cars). We each got a quote from a different company. Expert came in the lowest. I wanted to go with another company that received high reviews and was very responsive, friendly, and quick throughout the quote process (Earth Wizards, whose quote was the middle of the road quote, for reference), but was overruled because Expert's quote was lower.
Pros: They got the work done when they said they would and the asphalt looks great (the old asphalt was so bad it was crumbling). I was not the board member who communicated with Expert, so I cannot speak to their punctuality or professionalism, but as I said, the work was done quickly.
Cons: We also requested that the parking spot lines be painted by Expert and I was very disappointed in their work on this. Our lot is set up to have a walkway with 4 spots on either side. We keep our dumpster/recycling on one end of the lot. Instead of planning ahead, they started from either end, put the lines 7 feet apart (a car is typically 6 feet wide, leaving one foot between cars to open doors), and we were left with a 10 foot wide walkway in the middle with a car parked right next to the dumpster. When we contacted Expert to redo the lines, we got no response... unfortunately they had already received their payment, so I'm sure they decided they didn't care.
There was also a blackberry bush in the corner of the lot that I would have liked relocated, but instead was hacked to bits. This could have been a communication error on the part of the board member in charge, but disappointing nonetheless.
Overall, the parking lot looks much better, but I'm disappointed in the lack of response after the payment was made. My advice... make sure you do a thorough inspection of the work before you pay.

They gave the church a reasonable price, They showed up when they were scheduled to do the work.  They had excellent equipment and dedicated workers. They completed the job on time and on budget! It continues to withstand the test of time!

They previously had done the west parking lot and it too looks great.

I RECEIVED A VERY FAIR BID, WASN'T THE LOWEST BUT EXPERT ASPHALT SHOWED CONFIDENCE IN THEIR WORK. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND THE WORK WAS COMPLETED IN THE TIME GIVEN.  DURING THE JOB I HAD QUESTIONS AND THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY EASY TO TALK TOO AND PUT ME AT EASE.  I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY HIRE THEM FOR FUTURE WORK AND HAVE REFERRED THEM TO MY FRIENDS.

They were referred by a neighbor. the price was reasonable and the did the work on time. The office staff was excellent.

Arrived on time, actually, early, worked quickly and efficiently, would use them again!

Expert Asphalt's bid was significantly less than others I obtained. I had seen the previous low rating Expert received from a customer here, but after I read Expert's explanation, I agreed with their assessment of that situation.  Expert Asphalt was responsive. The estimate was made within a couple of days of my first call. We agreed on a price and we both signed a contract to which I was able to make changes. The tear out and leveling was done quickly and cleaned up thoroughly.  They let the driveway rest more than a week. The new asphalt was applied in an afternoon.  They also seal-coated two neighbors' driveways.  These neighbors were as satisfied as I was, but do not belong to Angie's list and, therefore, cannot report this themselves.  I would use Expert Asphalt again and I expect they will back up their work and their guarantee.
