They came out the very next day to do the brick repair of the chimney in my basement, and the work was excellent. Had to come back a few days later with a different crew to climb my steep roof for the chimney B-vent, but that too went great. Very pleased.

Joe and his team were great to work with on our chimney repair project. We needed the top 10-12 courses of brick replaced, new crown, repaired lower shelf, and did some tuckpointing. They were on time, did exactly what they said they would do, all the guys were friendly and professional, and the finished product looks fantastic. Joe did a nice job of communicating with us throughout, and I’d recommend their work to anyone looking for chimney repair.

It went great, they were able to come out within a few days and completed the work in a clean and efficient manner. Importantly, they didn't try to convince me that my chimney needed to be completely repaired, which is a scam that I have heard about with other companies.

I have a 100+ year old foursquare house in Minneapolis that needed a new chimney. High eaves (22') made the project especially tough. Joe came by, listened to my preferences, promptly sent me a quote that was fair and complete. He was busy and had to push things back a few weeks, but was responsive and communicated well. The work took longer than expected but Joe stuck to the quote and did a quality job. Take a look at the before and after pictures! Would hire again, for sure.

Joe from Metro Chimney was very responsive to my request for a quote. He gave us a very competitive price, and he kept us in the loop throughout the whole process. His crew did a very nice job of showing up and getting the job done, and even came in on Saturday morning to finish up before we got a couple of days of rain. They threw in a couple of ornamental flares at the top of the chimney that I didn't expect, but really liked. They did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves after the job was completed. I'd use them again, but I probably won't need to for 60-70 years.

The top of the chimney in our 1950's house was spalling badly. The brick was crumbling because there was no drip edge and water went right down the brick. The roof to brick interface started leaking into the house. We got lucky, because Joe and his crew were working in the area. He came out the same day to assess the project and the crew was at work the next day! We were stunned that they got started so quickly. One of our main concerns was making sure the repaired brick matched the existing. When they tore down the chimney, they kept as many of the good bricks as possible. The repair matches almost perfectly. The crew was quick, friendly, and professional.

Joe Olson saved my life twice on this project and his crew did great work. I cannot recommend Metro Chimney and Masonry highly enough. Raking my roof last month I discovered my worn chimney was perforated and looked like it might come down. I’d spoken with Joe last fall and we’d agreed it needed work but I hadn’t set anything up. I called him in on an emergency basis and he moved us way up the priority list. We were his first project of 2019. That was life-saving #1. #2 was when, on the day the project began, a neighbor unexpectedly denied access to two feet of his property for the legs of scaffolding. This was an uncomfortable moment and meant the work crew had to be creative in safely setting up the scaffolding in an unexpected way. The situation was complicated by the fact that there was still snow and ice on the ground and I hadn’t prepared the new area. Joe’s crew worked very professionally to resolve the situation and the project proceeded without delay. They performed a complete demolition and rebuild of our chimney under adverse (cold) conditions in under two days. I work at home and their impact on my day was minimal. They went about their work and left the job-site tidy. They were respectful of our landscaping. The results are solid and very pleasing to the eye. I could not ask for more. Joe and the team were fantastic. The chimney on our original 1928 South Minneapolis house has seen better days. It was cracked all the way to the ground and leaking. We did not want to do a stucco chimney again due to cost. Joe and team built a brick chimney that perfectly matched the character of the house and frankly looked a lot better than the original ever did. It is gorgeous! The crew was very efficient and was able to finish the job faster than originally expected given that there were some unforeseen issues with the brick on our particular job. Overall, replacing the brick and cap on our chimney went really well.

Joe and his crew from Metro Chimney and Masonry did an amazing job. He did an initial inspection of the work at hand, provided us a detailed estimate, set out exceptions for the project and took time to answer our questions. Though Metro Chimney wasn't the cheapest overall, they were the most thorough and had the best strategy on how to tackle the many issues that needed corrected in our 1950s rambler. And given the fact that Metro Chimney was able to do all the work internally, vs hiring outside contractors, we knew we were in good hands. The crew did an outstanding job matching the existing brick and in the finer points of their craftsmanship. When they were all finished, they cleaned up so well we had to hint they were ever there. At the completion of the project, Joe did a walk-around with me and answered all of the additional questions I had about proper care and maintenance. I cannot stress enough the incredible value, craftsmanship and professionalism of Metro Chimney and Masonry and highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality masonry work.

I have a large 3-flue chimney that needed the top 3 feet to be torn out and restored. Joe Olson was patient with my questions and professional. Joe wrote an excellent philosophy of his approach to the business which gave him a lot to live up to. The original bricks were cleaned and reused and the end result was that the restored brickwork could not be distinguished from the original. The finished product exceeded my expectations. The price was fair for the amount of work involved. Another tarp or two could have been used to protect the garden mulch from bits of loose mortar.

Joe and his team were great at every step. I had so much trouble even getting estimates for this job (other companies either never called back or looked at it and refused to bid on it because they were too busy or the job was too small) but Joe came out and gave me a good estimate and was able to complete the work within 4 weeks. His team kept my yard clean, set up the scaffolding with great respect to my neighbors property (there is only 8-10 feet between our houses and they were able to rig their equipment to keep my neighbors sidewalk and door unblocked — other companies said it couldn’t be done!), and did a great job fixing my chimney and tuckpointing areas that needed attention on my all brick 1940s facade. The new chimney crown looks awesome! Wish I had taken some “before” pictures!

I called several firms to get quotes on the repair and was surprised by the difference in prices quoted and in one case the scope of work to be performed. Most said that the cement crown and top 3-4 courses of brick would need replaced, one said the chimney would need to be taken down to the roof level which just didn't make sense as the damage was clearly only on the top. Joe was very prompt in scheduling a visit and by the time I met with him I'd already spoken with the other firms so I had a pretty good idea of the work that needed to be done. I liked the fact that he focused on what *needed* to be done rather than what was possible--I was getting these bids because I didn't know what needed to be done and wanted professional advice. Joe provided a clear scope of work and I was confident in his ability to do it properly. The fact that his bid was several hundred less than the others led me to believe that the others were charging more than necessary. Joe was good with communication about when the job would start (3-4 weeks out from my acceptance of his bid), and good with keeping me posted as they got closer to being ready to do the job. The crew showed up within the timeframe Joe said they would, and quickly set up their scaffolding and tarps on the roof around the chimney. After an afternoon's work they had the old materials removed down to the sound masonry and the new masonry and stone drip cap installed. The chimney was properly covered against the rain we got that night. The next morning the crew was back to put on the concrete crown and clean up including washing the chimney. The chimney was again covered as there was the possibility of rain. The following morning the crew was back to remove the covering, scaffolding and do a final cleaning. Each member of the crew was good natured and polite & it seemed to me that they had a good working relationship with each other. Nothing worse than having a bad feeling about the folks doing work for you and in this case there was none of that, these guys were pros and a pleasure to have working on our home. All of the work was just as Joe initially described it. They did end up taking off more brick than originally estimated, so the final cost was $150 over the bid. While I kept an eye on the progress, I didn't realize they'd done more than planned so was a little skeptical when Joe told that there would be an additional charge. Upon inspection I could clearly see what they'd done and I was happy to pay the small additional charge given that they did what was necessary to do a first class job. While I would normally expect to be notified in advance if the bid is to be exceeded, in this case the overage was modest and the work very good so I didn't have an issue with it. The final cost was still hundreds less than the next bid. Overall my wife and I were extremely pleased with Joe, his crew, and the work they did. We would have no hesitation recommending Metro Chimney and Masonry to any of our neighbors. Joe does great work at a fair price and provided a 3 year warranty on the work performed.
