Our experience with Kelly Green was friendly, pleasant and easy from the very first phone call to the last training/meeting with the tech who helped us learn how to operate the system. Duggan Kelly came to give us an estimate - he listened to our needs and concerns and offered helpful suggestions. We asked friends who have had installs by Kelly Green for their opinions and all were very happy with the product and the service.
On the day of the install, Duggan and the crew came and we tweaked the design a little more so that the system would run smoothly and efficiently. The crew had clearly worked together a lot - each person knew exactly what to do and didn't waste any time getting the job done. The machine that inserts the water lines leaves no trace that anything had been disturbed!
Duggan has checked in with us since the install was completed and never fails to remind us to call with questions or concerns. We're very happy with our sprinkling system and still get a kick out of watching it if we happen to be up early!
I worked closely with Dugan for the planning stage, through actual installation and system instruction. In two weeks he will return for getting the system up and running for the new 2015 season.
Dugan was helpful, courteous and professional. He was always honest and gave sound advice whenever it was needed. In every regard I am pleased and am looking forward to seeing the results!
Kelly Green is a family owned business, very successful and in every way their family values come across while you are working with them. It has and will continue to be so for many years I am sure.
I would say overall the job went quite well. We enjoyed working with Duggan, who as it turns out has worked with one of our fathers on a number of projects in the West Metro. He designed a system which needed to at once cover lots of new turf along with a sizable central garden. The result is vastly reduced manual watering on our part, saving us countless hours of effort and ensuring we have a beautiful lawn and healthy plants.
Things to look out for when having a system installed prior to sod being set (lessons learned) include:
1. Ensuring you know exactly where the sod will and quot;landand quot; as we had a sprinkling head installed which turned out to be further from the edge of the sod than planned. It seems the area is being watered adequately but nevertheless know where your grass is going to be before the sprinkling heads are installed!
2. The drawing of the sprinkling layout provided by Kelly Green is adequate but does not tell the whole story. Once your sytem is installed, ask questions about where the supply lines are run and how the heads are supplied. In our case the drawing seemed to depict the supply lines in-line with the heads when in-fact a loop runs further from the edge of the lawns and then feeder lines run to the edges. This we discovered when an event tent was placed where we thought no lines existed. Yup, we had a leak which then needed to be repaired.
3. About the only other thing I'd note is the control boxes (in the laws or beds) are not as level as I might have hoped. This however may be due to the close proximity of tree and shrub roots which of course one doesn't want to cut unless it cannot be helped.
Overall we are greatly pleased with the system and controls installed. We would use Kelly Green again.
Since the installation Mr. Kelly has followed up with me a couple of times to see how things were going with the system. He even dropped off some spinkler head marker flags for me (at my request) when I had my lawn irrigated in the fall. It was my mistake as I should have kept the original marker flags when they were offered to me at the time of installation. He dropped them off the next day, refused my offer of payment and had an attitute that he was happy to be able to do it, even though I am sure he had a busy schedule. This is a professional firm with a strong focus on customer service. I though their price was competitive and the service was outstanding. I am a perfectionist and i wanted my job done right, I am glad a went with Kelly Green.
