Carpet Installation
Our house has what we call a one-season porch, a non-heated, all windowed-room, with a concrete floor covered in very old and worn indoor-outdoor carpet. This room connects our house to our garage and also has a service door to the backyard, but because it does allow direct entry into the house, the sad condition of the carpet was always in view. The time had come to replace the carpet.
We were surprised when our "go-to" carpet installer passed on the job. Apparently installing "glue-down" carpeting is messy and not a favorite among installers. We had recently come across the name of another installer, Quality First Flooring LLC, so I called, hoping our project fell within their job parameters. My call was answered immediately by Donovan Taylor, who verified that, of course, they could install glued-down carpet on concrete and we arranged for an estimate visit. As agreed, Donovan, who owns the company, and his colleague, Ed, met with us, reviewed the project, and provided an estimate.
Over the next week our task was to clear the porch and pull the old carpet out. Having done so, we called Donovan and set up an installation date.
Years ago, the existing carpet had been carefully installed, with meticulous tailoring around the casing trim of 3 doors and 7 windows. We actually had photos of those areas taken before removing the carpet. We asked Donovan and Ed if they would be able to tailor the new carpeting such as in the photos. They received both the photos and the request graciously and confidently -- and went to work.
They did an outstanding job! The carpet looks wonderful. And, yes, the tailoring is perfect! While glue-down jobs may have the reputation of being messy, you would never have known it looking at our neat-as-a-pin porch. Pride in the job is a priceless attribute. I'd say we have a new "go-to" carpet installer!
