Pest Control
We had what we thought was a bee hive in an outside soffit space. Rather than use our normal pest control service, I contacted the Bee Rescue Swarm Removal service for Minneapolis through their web site. From the 888 number I was routed to the local provider, Pete.
We made arrangements for him, "Pete" to come out the same day. When he arrived, he informed us they were not bees, but yellow jackets. He said he could take care of exterminating them and closing up their entry to the nest, a gap under the shingles on a ridge line.
My alarm should have gone off when he said he didn't have a ladder and we'd have to borrow one from a neighbor or he'd have to come back the next day. We borrowed a ladder and he went up to treat the nest. He then found he did not have enough insecticide and no caulk to seal up the entrance to the nest. He went off to the local hardware store and returned an hour later. He said he got lost. He had a couple cans of Raid brand wasp and hornet killer, the same stuff I had already tried on the nest. He blasted that in at close range, then followed up with some of the long lasting powder. He said the powder would be tracked into the nest to kill the rest of the yellow jackets. He then sealed up the entrance with caulk.
Included in the $200 fee, was a retreatment should it be necessary.
Well, a retreatment was necessary. Within a few days, the yellow jackets found another way in and the nest was thriving. I tried to contact Pete again. Left 3 messages over 2 days with no response. Finally on the 4th attempt I caught him. He said it would be a couple days before he could get out to the house. I'd had enough of "Pete". I told him to forget it.
I called our regular pest control service, who were able to come out the same day. When he arrived he told me they pests were hornets, not yellow jackets. And sealing up the entrance after applying the powder insecticide was useless, since the hornets would not track the powder into the nest. He treated the nest with a similar powder and we have not a problem since with the nest.
Clearly "Pete" from Bee Rescue Swarm Removal does not know what he is doing. He is very unprofessional and provides lousy customer service.
I would stay away from using him for ANY services.
One further note. Pete evidently does business under several different names. One of which is "Roselawn Heritage Farms".
Stay away from this one folks.
