There needs to be a way to rate at zero stars or negative stars. Sales order #10415 dated July 10th 2018. I brought my Toro 522xi 2 cylinder engine garden tractor in running on one cylinder. I brought with me a new starter for the tractor I bought on Ebay that he agreed that he would install since the engine had to be removed for the repair. He called me after the work was done. I got there and he said “let’s load it up” and we did. I get inside and he goes over the repair showing the damaged parts replaced and he talks to me like I’m brainless and stupid. I have a good well of knowledge about the mechanical repairs he was doing. He then said “you know that rear tire with a slow leak”? Yes I replied. He then said “I bought a tube and installed it”. I never got a call from him about that and I didn’t authorize that repair. It was a very slow leak in the tire. The tube was $49.84 which could have been bought at Fleet Farm for about $20. The labor he charged for just putting the tube in the tire was $85. A total of $134.84 in unauthorized work which would have been about $40-$50 at Fred’s Tire about 5 blocks away. Then he told me: “oh by the way you are going to start going through batteries”. I then asked why? He replied with “it’s not charging at the stator”. At that point I silently thought that he was up to something. Then I asked him ok what would it cost to fix that? He replied with: “Oh, uuuhh,,,, about $500”. I was really tired that day as I was in another one of the months long flare ups from chronic Lyme disease. I really wish right then I had challenged him on the unauthorized repair of the rear tire in which he gouged me big time. Then I should have also challenged him on the charging system not working because IT WAS WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO HIM! I have gone through several batteries until I bought a small Mazda Miata size battery and got it to fit after removing some shields. I have to charge up the battery before each mowing. I can’t use the headlights because the battery wears down a lot faster. With the non functioning charging system the engine ignition and the electric clutch run solely from the battery and it wears down after about 4 hours. The Miata spec battery I bought at Walmart wore out after 1-1/2 years and I had to replace it partly under warranty. So I’ve spent around $200 on small car battery’s for my garden tractor so far. My tractor is not worth as much because of this and it’s a major hassle. The charging system on my tractor had nothing to do with the repairs he did related to the pushrods, lifters and head gaskets. He might reply with that the battery light was on on the dashboard of the tractor. Well a common problem with that Toro 5xi series of Toro tractors is that the battery light comes on, or flickers while the charging system is working fine. My other garden tractor a Toro 520xi has the same thing happen on it and it’s charging system also has worked fine. It’s been discussed often on garden tractor forums. Ed at Hugo Power a Toro dealership has a device for checking that which is unusually a bad diode. I’m the only person who has ran that tractor since I bought it from Century Power in March 2015 with a little over 300 hours on it. The charging system was working until Art at Stillwater Turf and Power worked on it. So I’m thinking of two scenarios when he worked on it: 1. He crossed some wires by accident and blew one of the components in the charging circuit and wasn’t man enough to own up to his mistake. 2. He left some wires for the charging system unhooked or they were cut or not installed or not installed properly. I got ripped off big time. Anyways I’m never spending another dime there because his work was at the least incompetent. I really should have taken him small claims court over this. I suggest not giving him anything more complicated to work on than a balsa wood airplane with a wind up rubber band. What a ripoff I experienced trusting that guy.

Owner advised me to replace the aging gas brush trimmer rather than hire him to repair it. He took the time to search online for a possible replacement so we could compare the cost and trade-offs of "repair vs. replace." He then printed out info on the replacement model for me to take with me. So, I believe I got expert advice (service) at no expense.

Repairs performed quickly; however, when I picked it up, the bag, which I left on the mower when I brought it in, was missing. I was immediately told that he never takes mowers with bags (which is odd, because my neighbor remembers it being on when he helped me place it in my car and I CLEARLY remember it being on when he helped me remove it from my car) and that he didn't have it. Hope he didn't take any other parts!

My belt for the transmission came off while mowing. Went to the shop and described my problem. Art said he would come by and pick up the tractor and see what was needed. He showed up at the time he had told me, looked at the tractor and told me what he thought should be done. He also did a quick look at the tractor and he found other things that should be taken care of. Art gave me a rundown of what he thought should be done and the approximate prices. He is very thorough about what he will do so that there is no misunderstanding. He had the tractor back to me in about 3 days which I thought was really fast. The tractor was cleaned up and he brought all of the parts that had been replaced. A great job. I will not hesitate to take my business to Art the next time I have a problem.

I have no experience with small engine repair. These guys were extremely professional and explained everything in detail. They got my snowblower in right away and only took 3 days to get it done. My 12 year old snowblower has never run so good. I will only be using Stillwater Turf and Power for all my future small engine repair needs, very impressed!!!!

First I took mower to the store I purchased it from and they said no longer repair them and gave me the new  servicer info. Went to mower repair shop and was told they were backed up and would look at it in 2 weeks. The next morning decided that was to long.
Went back and picked up mower was told good luck in getting it back any sooner. Checked Angies list and saw this servicer. Called and asked if I needed appointment no just bring in not going to turn away business. Took mower in we discussed problems sounds like a carb repair would take about 5 days. Four days later he called and said mower ready and cost about $130.
Picked up mower and works great. This is a an excellent dealer great personality and seemed to me he really wanted to please me which he did. I strongly recommend STILLWATER TURF AND POWER.

Art, owner of Stillwater Turf and Power, picked up the ATV at our home, took it back to his shop and did all of the work there. He removed and cleaned/adjusted the carburetor, charged the battery, drained and replaced the old fuel from the tank, and corrected misalignment of the linkage to the transmission shifter.  The ATV now runs better than it did when first purchased. Outstanding job!
When Art returned the ATV to us, he went over in detail all of the work he'd done and provided instruction on how to drain the fuel pump when we put the machine back into storage for the winter to preclude the kind of starting problems we've had for several seasons. An excellent experience, all-around.

Things went good with them. They were very personable. The owner was really on top of things and he called me right back with the information that I had requested with regards to what was wrong with the lawn mower and stuff like that. He was right on top of things in terms of I thought that I had some issues with it and he explained things to me really well. He knew what he was talking about and his price was pretty comparable.

I was initially impressed with his professionalism and courtesy on my inquiry call.  I brought my mower in and he thoroughly explained what he would do, what the approximate cost would be, and when it would be ready.  I brought it in on Friday and he worked on it over the weekend and I picked it up on Monday.  Some other places were quoting two weeks.  And it does not appear he was not busy.  He knew how important a quick turn around was for me and he delivered.  Upon pick up, he once again reviewed what he did, showed me the old parts, and reviewed the bill with me.  I was totally impressed with his enthusiasm and promptness.  And the 9 year old mower runs like new once again.  I would highly recommend Art and Stillwater Turf and Power to everyone!
