Amazing experience! The owner, Jim, was very knowledgeable and prompt with his responses. The designer, Chanda, provided great advice/suggestions and a beautiful design. The installer, Joe, had great attention to detail and very helpful communication of his plan, suggestions, and explanations. I’d highly suggest using Kitchens of Stillwater/Woodbury as they provided a very personal experience, the team has worked together for years and takes the time to understand your needs. They also have a large selection of colors, styles, materials, etc. Working with this small business was significantly easier than working with a large business.

For a year I planned and saved for a remodel of my kitchen to add a pantry, cupboards and a bookcase. In May I contacted Kitchens of Woodbury to begin the process. I was asked to take pictures of the area and I described what I wanted done. I emailed the photos and in return I was sent a drawing with a rough estimate of $6,000. A month later I called again and made an appointment for them to come to do measurements and firm up the cost. The price went up to $8,362. At that point they wanted a half down payment to order the materials. I had not received the invoice at that point but they wanted $4,100 on the spot. I put it on a credit card and a couple days later I received an email containing the invoice with minimal detail as to what was being charged. The invoice indicated a 10/40/40/10 timeframe for payment but the owner insisted on receiving 50/50. The invoice was not signed by the owner. I did not sign it either. It took weeks for the materials to be delivered to my home and they said it was inspected it before delivery. Construction was to begin on a Wednesday but Monday morning around 10 a.m. I was called and asked if they could start right away. I told them that was ok, but I asked how long it would take since they were starting mid-day. The owner assured me it would take a little over a day. On the second day I noticed that two drawers and the roll outs were missing. By the end of the 3rd day it was clear several items had not been ordered. In addition to the drawers also missing was the toe kick trim under the cabinets, trim for the top of the pantry and there was a hole in the back of the upper cupboard that was already installed on the wall. I agreed to have them order the missing materials and it was another month before they were delivered. They asked if they could come to install the drawers alone having received them before the trim but I refused as Covid was still going strong and I told them I would wait until everything was delivered. Finally, everything was delivered and I was told they would put a "skin" over the hole in the cupboard. Actually, they covered they whole back with a board held on with 4 very noticeable brass screws in each corner. The carpenter then started working on the drawers and suddenly I noticed he switched to putting the trim on the cupboards. The owner came back when the trim was finished and told me that all the glides, drawers and pullouts were too long and didn't fit in the cupboard. He had not ordered the materials according to his own measurements. At that point they had been in my home 4 days and it would take another month to get the materials. That is when I lost it and told them to get out! The owner offered $1,000 off the cost, which in my anger, I agreed to. I wrote the check and kicked them out. When I went into the garage, I saw that they had also taken all the remnants from the trim as well as the drawers. To be fair, the carpenter did a good job with the installation considering he admitted he had never done anything like this before. I emailed a week later to say I felt a further refund was required. They refused and said that the amount was "fair".

Hired Kitchens of Woodbury to install a Cambria Countertop. Shannon and Jim (owner) were great to work with. Very responsive, friendly, and helpful throughout the process. The cost of the new countertop, sink, faucet including install was approximately $7,200. We elected to complete the demo work and tiled the backsplash ourselves to reduce costs. We hired A.J. Alberts directly to complete the plumbing work. The installation of the Cambria countertop went very smooth and looks amazing. We are very pleased with final results. Would recommend Kitchens of Woodbury and would consider them on future projects.

Ever since we moved into our house over 12 years ago, I've dreamed of remodeling the kitchen. At first we thought we might manage ourselves, but after doing our research, we realized we could never get the space we wanted without professionals. We signed up for info last summer and followed up with an appointment. Chanda and Jim came to our house to discuss what we wanted, take measurements, etc. The actual construction, which included removing the wall between our kitchen and livingroom, floors, cabinets, ceilings, and all finish work, took about six weeks. It wasn't cheap, but the outcome was worth every penny. Chanda and Jim communicated regularly; I can't imagine them doing anything better for our needs.

Overall, it went well. We especially liked the plumber, AJ Alberts. We were disappointed in the estimated labor cost for the backsplash so are going with someone else that is charging 70% less. I cannot comment on the cost of the countertop because we did not get competitive bids.
Be sure to ask for polished undersides of countertop overhangs if that is important to you.

I had a new gas fireplace installed and wanted Cambria as the surround material. Since I had previously used Kitchens of Woodbury to update my bathrooms and I was pleased with their work, I decided to use them again to do this installation. After the new fireplace was installed, they came out to do measurements and it became obvious that some carpentry work would be necessary to be able to properly install the Cambria. They provided a carpenter and he did an excellent job of making the fireplace flush with the wall area and slightly raising it so a 2 cm height of Cambria would fit under the fireplace. The actual installation of the Cambria went very smoothly. They spent a lot of time making sure everything was aligned and that the two seams were virtually invisible. Once again Kitchens of Woodbury did a fantastic job!

They were good. They're really helpful in helping us choose the fixtures and the cabinetry specially in the shower and fixing some of goofy plumbing that was put in when the house was built our house is 50 years old. The biggest thing is help us on the cost of the project and they're willing to work with us to consult what would be nice colors and how to go about it. It took them longer than I thought but the quality of work was good and also less expensive than what we have paid in the retail store. They stuck to the price they say.

They were very good. We knew when their people were coming, we noticed exactly what we purchased, one of their best things was when we finally signed with the contractor and we were discussing who was going to do what there was one afternoon that all the people that they subcontracted to came to our kitchen and heard what we wanted so they knew what they were supposed to do and knew what else we wanted so that they could bid accordingly. There were weekly, daily updates from the contractor as to what was going on. It was a very different experience. We would recommend them to everybody.

Jim, the owner, came out to do initial measurements and then Carol, manager/designer of Kitchens of Woodbury, provided me with a quote. Next, Carol came out to see the bathrooms and had someone do the final measurements. Carol was extremely helpful in working with me to choose design and colors that would go well with my existing bathroom decor. She also suggested using Ferguson in Mahtomedi for the plumbing fixtures, which proved to be a worthwhile experience since you could consult with their design personnel. After everything was ordered and received, the installation schedule was set. I really appreciated that Carol worked with my preference for afternoons when scheduling the work.
The installation took place over three consecutive afternoons. The first day was the tearout of the old countertops, sinks and faucets. The second day was the installation of the new countertops and sinks. On the third day the faucets and sinks were hooked up, the old toilets removed, and the new toilets installed.
All work was done in a professional manner and only a couple minor issues were encountered. When they tore out one of the backsplash pieces, a piece of the drywall came with it (which was due to improper installation of the original drywall). They quickly obtained a new piece of drywall and cut it to size to fill the hole. A small wall ding happened during installation of one of the countertops, but they filled it on the spot and Carol had a painter come out later to touch up the area. After the installation was complete, I discovered that one of the toilet tanks was loose, but Jim quickly fixed it.
The overall experience was very positive and it was a pleasure working with Carol!

I met with Chanda the designer and project manager to discuss what I wanted and my budget. Jim, the owner, then came out to see the bathroom and to give me an estimate for the project. When I decided to have them do the remodel Jim came back out with the carpenter, plumber and tile man to have them see the project and discuss more details. I met with Chanda and she walked me through everything and answered any questions I had. She helped me with the choices I had to make and gave me suggestions of where to shop for everything from the plumbing fixtures to the tile and the light.Only after I made all my choices, the orders were placed and everything needed to do the remodel was delivered was a time line made up. I knew who would be at my house, when they would be there and what was to be done. Chanda kept me informed of any changes in the schedule, which were very few. Everyone was very professional. They took pride in their work and the finished product. Everyone cleaned up any mess that they made and when they left for the day all tools and supplies were put away. The tradesmen all knew each other, worked well together, and knew how to coordinate their jobs. I couldn't be happier with my new bathroom and with the entire remodel process. If I ever need to do another bathroom or kitchen remodel I will go to Kitchens of Stillwater.

As I recall, my wife was here through the day, but they were prompt and pretty much did what they said they'd do. I did have one issue with one of those little appliance garage they installed but it was kind of a small thing. They were very good. I never met them but my wife was very happy with how she was treated.
