They did a good job of removing the ice dams.

A three person team came out on time. They were hard working and quite brave to get up on a wintery roof in Minnesota to remove snow and chip and steam ice dams away. They were careful not to damage anything and left no mess behind. All in all, a very impressive work crew. I chose Doug's based on Angie's List reviews. Another company on the List with strong reviews charges $125/hour more than Doug's and has a three hour minimum whereas Doug has two. Thus, Doug proved to be an excellent choice in my opinion.

Doug has been VERY helpful over the past 30 hours as we have had some challenging ice dam problems. (Certainly soooooooo many of us are having problems especially over the past several days.) At first I sent an email and then decided to call. He is easy to work with and very flexible. Doug suggested I send him a photo to better understand our situation. He indicated one of his teams could hopefully service us possibly Monday or ideally by Tuesday. Then, out of the blue, Doug called this afternoon indicating one of his teams was willing to service our ice dam this afternoon!!!! Miracles do happen. The team members were wonderful and ever so kind as I checked in with them. It was bitter cold with all of the wind we had. They were as patient as could be. I can't thank Doug and his team enough for their fantastic customer service

After having a leaking problem coming from our chimney, we noticed some damage to our roof that was probably from a storm the year before and we wanted to get an evaluation of what sort of things would need to be done to improve it.  We had used Doug's Roofing 6 months before for an ice dam removal and I was so impressed with Doug and his service, I decided to contact him again to assess my roof.  We also started the process of seeing if our insurance company would help us with replacement costs.  After my initial meeting with Doug and my phone call to the insurance company, I didn't even need to do that much other that pick out the shingles.  Doug took care of most of the insurance stuff for us, including being there when the assessor came to view the roof and submitting the invoices and photos of the work done directly to the insurance company.  He and his team (one to four other guys depending on the day) work for several days to re-deck the whole house and garage (they were replacing what was probably 94 year old wood), put on new shingles, new vents on the garage, fresh flashing on the chimney, and even adjusted some of the siding that was impacted by the changes on the roof (and one that was just falling off the side of my house).  All of them were very nice.  The were delayed several time due to rain so that made it take a bit longer, but they still got done before my requested deadline.  The whole thing, from the time I first contacted Doug to when the final insurance payment came, was probably about two months.  I am so pleased with the results!  Doug is so nice, so helpful and so professional!

I had a major ice dam on a Sunday with water pouring into my house. Everyone I called had a 7-10 day wait. Dougwas able to squeeze me in the next day and worked like crazy to clear the ice. They were very professional, worked non-stop and were careful of the roof (no damage). Great job and highly recommended!

We were very very satisfied with all aspects. The owner was present for all of it. He was actually there doing the work with the crew. He seemed very knowledgeable.

They arrived on time (8:30am) and had some equipment problems, but another unit was delivered and the job was completed by 2:30pm. The upper roof was shoveled clear even though that was not requested and I was only charged for the two hour minimum. The $375/hour was more than many of the reviews I had seen here, but I did receive a small discount. Since it was still very cold there was quite a mess on my front step and walk, but the ice was gone.

 Doug and team did a great job an worked extremely hard. They were even able to squeeze me in at the last minute. Much appreciated!

I had an emergency. Water was coming in the window wells in two bedrooms. I found Doug's Roofing on Angie's List and wanted to use them because they were local. I called Doug and he said they would be out the next morning. They arrived just before 8:00 AM, explained the plan and went to work. Throughout the day Johnny came to the door and showed me pictures of the roof and the size of the ice dams. Wally and Johnny worked all day long and solved my problem. I was so relieved. They were friendly and informative. I was very thankful for their service.

Doug's service from beginning to end was great. He called me back within 2 hours when I first contacted him and was very professional both on the phone and in person. He thoroughly explained what he would do to deal with the ice dams on our roof, and exactly what his charge would be for that service. My husband and I were very impressed and would definitely use Doug's Roofing in the future!

Doug was very responsive in our communications for setting-up his service for my requirements. The workers arrived at the exact  time we had set-up, finished in the time Doug had estimated, cleaned-up the area as needed,  and charged me the exact amount quoted (no extra charges). I am very satisfied with Doug's Roofing and will use their services again.

Doug and his team were fantastic. I called him at 9:00pm and he set up an appointment for the next afternoon. He explained in detail what he was going to do and why, and offered suggestions for preventing future problems. The dams were quite large and he worked into the night to get things taken care of, and gave us a discount on top of it. He didn't start the clock until they actually got the equipment onto the roof and fired up. Everything was cleaned up great and he removed all the snow that fell onto the deck and walkways. NOTE: This review is for a house we will be moving into, not the address listed below.

The snow was too high and deep for my roof rake, it was time to have someone remove it. My house is a small rambler with 2 ft overhangs, the snow was very deep, about 2-3 feet in places on the overhangs. I was concerned about the weight in these places. I researched through Angie's List and found Doug's services. I liked the reviews and comments about him. I contacted him that day and he answered his phone right away. I was not an emergency for me, as many others were with ice dams, so we scheduled the removal of the snow for later the next week. His team show up right on time and got the job done! They removed all the snow from my roof without leaving any around my front or side patio, or on the drive way. Everything was clear!

Doug quoted me a price and that's what it was, $225.

I was very happy with the work done and the professionalism of Doug and his team.

We called Doug back to address additional potential problem areas on our roof. Because we were within 30 days, there would be no minimum charge. Once again Doug and crew did a nice job clearing the ice and snow off of the roof. Doug also went out of his way to help my disabled wife with an emergency inside the house.

Crew of Brent and Eric arrived when scheduled, unpacked their equipment, and started to work.  With Doug's Roofing the clock does not start until they start shoveling or steaming.  The service is pricey but competitive.  $350 an hour, 2 hour minimum, if more time is needed rate drops to $300 an hour.  Brent came to me at the 2 hr. mark, explained what they had accomplished and recommended 1 additional hour of work which I agreed to.  The crew removed a ton of snow and ice in 3 hrs. total time - clock stops when they stop shoveling or steaming, not when they drive away.  They are also very good at clearing the snow that falls onto walkways or driveways.  This crew was hard working, efficient, personable and very professional, paying attention to all details.  At the end of the 3 hours Brent showed me what they had done and if it looked acceptable.  Would highly recommend this service to others in need.

Doug and Jimmy were top-rate!  We live in a 1923 Minneapolis home with a steeper-than-usual roof and a section of flat rubber roof.  Doug and Jimmy were punctual, explained their process, and proceeded with great care so as not to damage gardens or structures with falling ice and snow.  I appreciated the use of plastic shovels on the rubber flat roof and the systematic way they steamed away the ice dams, focusing on sections that needed attention, explaining why other parts of the roof did not need clearing (e.g., south-facing).  We reviewed the work after it was completed and they were very attentive to assuring our satisfaction as homeowners.  They were responsible, responsive and experienced.  I would definitely hire them again in the future and highly recommend them to Angie's List members as well.

I called Doug on Sunday - had a response within 2 hours. He said that he might be able to have his partner come to the house on Monday, or he could guarantee Tuesday morning and explained his minimum charge. Sure enough at 8am on Tuesday, he was at our house - our problem was big enough that to do a complete job, they would exceed the minimum charge time frame. Doug notified my wife of this and she authorized them to keep going.
She informed them that we might have another area that might need treatment - they completed the initial area and then tackled the second area. I talked with her on the phone and she informed me that some of the snow that they cleared from the roof was against a basement window - they cleared that snow and cleared all of the snow off our decks. When I got home, the entire roof in the area of the leak was clear - the ice dams were gone, as was all of the snow. We have a couple of areas that could be future problems, but right now, our problems are solved. They could have recommended an immediate clearing of the potential problem areas, but, instead recommended we watch for problems - this meant that our immediate problems were solve - without inflating the bill.
Doug was very professional and his crew (he ended up calling in a third person) were friendly. I think that the service was fairly priced - expensive, but priced at or below what was quoted.
This winter in Minnesota has been an odd one - the snow has come in small increments - but has never melted. Quite frankly, I hope that we don't need Doug's ice dam removal in the future - but will feel comfortable calling him again.

After noticing a pretty severe ice dam on my roof on Sunday morning, I searched Angie's List and found some great reviews for Doug's Roofing.  So, I called Sunday afternoon and Doug promptly returned my call and let me know he and his crew could come by on Tuesday afternoon.....very quick turnaround given the season.  
They arrived on time and quickly got to work.  Doug gave me a thorough rundown of his process, billing, projected time spent, etc and made sure I was on board before they got started.  Once he started, we noticed my outdoor spigot wasn't equipped to draw water for the steaming process.  So, rather than calling it a day, Doug went to the hardware store himself to buy a new spigot to make it work.....talk about going above and beyond the call of duty!
Work was completed in ~2 hours and Doug gave me a thorough recap of what he found along with some recommendations for how to handle future issues.  His crew also shoveled all the snow out of the way for my house and the neighbors as well.  They left the campsite better than how they found it and even put down some salt.  
A great experience and I will definitely call Doug next time we have an issue......you should, too.
