Brian was very thorough and pointed out many things that needed attention from the air exchanger intake needing cleaning to recommending refinishing / resealing the wood around the windows. He also labeled everything in the furnace room identifying all of the gas lines and shutoff valves.

Inspection was very thorough, would absolutely recommend.

Brian was thorough and found many problems, including cracking roof and mold in basement insulation. I would hire him again.

Block by Block were very easy to work with. I made the appointment, in just a few days, I met Brian at the house for the inspection. Brian was right on time, and immediately started work. I had the choice to do the inspection with him, show up after he inspected for a re-cap of the inspection, or have an inspection report sent to me. I highly recommend doing the inspection with him. Brian was very thorough, and would explain what he was doing as he went. It helped me understand the house in detail. He explained the things that would need repair, and if the repair needed to be taken care of right away, or if it might be something to do in the future. He also explained the good things about the house as we went along. Brian didn't hurry through the inspection, and at the end made time to answer all of my questions. I would highly recommend this company.

Brian was on time and very thorough. He took the time to explain everything he found during the inspection and answered all of our questions.

The inspector arrived on time, did a quick run through the house, then started the inspection with me tagging along. He explanied what he was looking at, made notes, took pictures and answered any questions that I had. My report was e-mailed to me the next morning. This was the second time I used Block By Block Home Inspections, the first house we found leaky plumbing pipes and mold.

Great! I called on a Monday hoping to get an appointment for a Thursday and got an appointment exactly when I needed it. Brian was very professional and thorough in his exam and report. I had read on other reports that he labels things for owners (e.g. water shut off, etc) and that's one of the reasons I went with him. I arrived 2 hours into the inspection (to go over all the results) and asked him about it - he had already done that. Very nice for people like me who don't know much about the mechanics of homes. He also did a great job explaining things so I could understand them without making me feel like an idiot. He also did a good job of letting me know when something was just a technical violation but unlikely to cause problems or something I should take care of soon.

I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day, which was wonderful, and both Brian Block and the woman who scheduled the appointment (his wife?) were both very nice and very professional! Brian Block also did a very thorough job! If he hadn't crawled up into and through the attic crawlspace, he'd not have found that the home builders had made a mistake with the venting of a bathroom, causing mold/mildew buildup. Another contractor might just have made a cursory visual inspection from the hatchway, rather than taking the time and effort to really explore for him/herself fully, and would have missed the problem. Brian also took great care to walk through the home with me afterwards, not only detailing problems or potential issues, but giving maintenance tips and ideas for future refinements/changes that might be more efficient. I could tell that he really enjoys his job! For example, he enthusiastically explained how things had changed in the home through time, what was original and what had been added later. I joked that he was a very good "home forensics examiner"! I also liked very much that he took a measured (even-keeled) approach in explaining his findings. He was neither pessimistic (one who enjoys alarming home buyers) nor overly optimistic (dismissing potential problems), but explained realistically what should be adressed now, what maintenance might be required in the future, and what potential issues should be watched for, given the construction techniques employed on the home. In short, I had a great experience with Brian Block and the "Block by Block" company (clever name!), and very much recommend them! A+ Oh, and I also had his final report emailed to me on the same day as the inspection! Wonderful again!

This was the best home inspection experience that I've had to date. He took time to tag everything in the furnace room so that my wife and I can find things once we move in (which was great because there were a few things that my previous homes didn't have). Using his diagnostic equipment, Brian even detected a minor gas leak that the previous owners had overlooked. I cannot say enough about how thorough he was!

Brian Block completed the inspection of our potential home cheerfully in sub-zero temperatures. He was very professional, courteous, and thorough. He explained any issues found with the house to us during the inspection process and provided a written report the same evening via email. Brian's wife, Suzanne, was great on the phone; a prompt and effective communicator who always answered our calls and/or returned messages promptly. We'd use them again for sure.

We were very pleased with the service. Our call was answered promptly and courteously and the inspection was scheduled within a couple of days. The fees were quoted accurately and a contract was sent in advance by e-mail. Brian Block arrived at the appointed time and spent four hours thoroughly going over both the exterior and interior of the house. He went over his findings with us in detail and had digital images of places in need of repair that would have been difficult for us to see. He completed a written report and e-mailed it to us along with the digital photos that evening. He also left us free-of-charge with a very detailed book on home systems and how they work. Brian was courteous, very professional, and did an excellent job. I would recommend him.

Brian was great--we probably spent 3 hours going through (and around and over) the house, garage, and yard. Brian had a lot of great suggestions, pointed out things we should (and shouldn't) worry about, and answered a bunch of questions from this amateur handyman. The final report was professional and useful, and Brian went through the house and showed us where all of the shutoffs, etc. were and then left tags on them. Hire this guy for your inspection - you won't be disappointed.

IT WENT EXTREMELY WELL. BRIAN WAS ON TIME AND OVER-COVERED EVERYTHING. ALL LIGHTS, ELECTRICAL SOCKETS, APPLIANCES, FLASHINGS, WINDOWS, DOORS, PLUMBING, PAINT, AND VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING ELSE WAS COVERED. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 1/2 HOURS TO COMPLETE AS HE BROUGHT ME STEP BY STEP THROUGH EVERYTHING HE SAW. AFTER THE INSPECTION WAS DONE, HE PREPARED AN INSPECTION REPORT THAT WAS SENT TO ME THE NEXT DAY THAT DETAILED EVERYTHING THAT HE FOUND, BRIAN IS VERY DETAIL ORIENTED AND IS AN EXPERT IN WHAT HE DOES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE WORKED WITH HIM AND IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST.

BRIAN WAS ON TIME, EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE WAS VERY PATIENT AND ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS ABOUT POTENTIAL PROBLEMS AND/OR NEED FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. WE SPENT ABOUT THREE HOURS GOING OVER EVERY INCH OF THE HOME. HE CHECKED EVERY APPLIANCE AND EVERY OUTLET, INSIDE AND OUT. HE MADE SUGGESTIONS FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION AND WAYS TO PREVENT PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.
