My dog became ill around Thanksgiving. Brought the dog into the clinic and they ran several tests and x-rays. The vet said she was sure it was a particular bacteria. We waited the week to get the results. I was charged almost $700 for this visit. After keeping them updated via email, the dog stopped eating and appeared to get worse overnight. I emailed and called to speak with a vet; staff "V" told me to come in to get the dog seen. I explained the emails that I sent back and forth with the vet but she told me I had to come in. I went in this afternoon; and was charged another $400. I still have NO ANSWERS. I was told I be referred to a vet hospital/specialist. The vet told me she didn't want to keep spending my money (at this clinic) with no answers. I wish I was told that they would refer us to the specialist instead of wasting my evening there; paying another $400 and still don't have the answers to help my dog. Pets are expensive, yes, but for $1,100, I should have a diagnosis. I would say, PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT VET IF YOU NEED SERIOUS ANSWERS TO AN ILLNESS OR MEDICAL ISSUE. Perhaps they may do better with routine exams.

Greyhounds are notorious for having bad teeth. I knew this. I still recommend people rescue greyhounds from rescue groups. They make excellent pets. Couch potatoes and very loving and sweet. I brought Zephyr to Dr. Rutscher, whom I have used for several years for all my pets. He cleaned Zephyr's teeth for less money than other vets, or so I understand from other greyhound people.
Besides doing a good job cleaning teeth, Dr. Rutscher has such a calm, kind manner. I first used him because he comes to your house and I had pets that needed to be put down. I would put them on my bed, Dr. Rutscher would administer the meds and it would be a very intimate, peaceful experience for both my pet and me. After a while I realized that I liked Dr. Rutscher so much that I would switch vets and do more than just have him euthanize.
Also one winter, my greyhound didn't see a sewer grate because we had just had a big blizzard and had to walk in the street. He accidentally stepped in to the sewer grate and scraped the skin on one leg extremely bad. I thought he had broken his leg but he hadn't. I couldn't get to the clinic because the plows hadn't come yet and Dr. Rutscher came to my house and brought my dog to the clinic for me.

He bandaged up the leg really well and went above and beyond the call of duty with us.
