Dunrite Automotive on Minnetonka Blvd. has been servicing my cars and my husband's cars for about 10 years. They are honest, competent, and reasonable. When there's more than one approach to a problem they fully explain our options. Recently when my husband's car reached the point of needing servicing more frequently they advised us that we had reached the point where the cost/benefit ratio was in favor of a new car. They could have continued to repair the car indefinitely but they gave us the advice we needed even though it meant the new car would be under warranty for a long time. I highly recommend them.

The mechanics are good in diagnosing.  They never fix more than what you need.  They tell you when you need to fix or you could go for awhile and not fix it.  They are fair and honest.

No problems.  Everything went smoothly.  Phil was courteous, kept me informed on the status of the work, and finished within the time frame he had given me.

Our experience with DunRite has been A+. They've always performed quality work and their cost is very reasonable. They even went above and beyond helping my husband submit work through his vehicle warranty. They are always very good about scheduling time and being able to get in the shop as soon as an issue comes up. Phil is very good about following up with an initial assessment on the vehicles with quotes for what the work will cost. They have even worked to offer alternatives and what their recommendations would be for more extensive work. I have never felt taken advantage of by this company and would highly recommend their services to Angie's List members.

I chose this place because of prior Angie's list members positive reports.took my son's car here for diagnosis because it had a miss. left it there all day.got a call mid afternoon telling us it was the ignition control module needing replacement.$445.00 ++++++$109.00 for the diagnosis!!!! I said no thank and picked up the car. Here's the breakdown $109 for diagnosis, $10.50 for supplies and $4.50 for an environmental fee. $124.00 TOTAL!!!

What supplies??? you hook up the computer, etc. Must have been a lot of paper towels.....and $4.50 environmental, for what? Called around and found a new ignition control module for anywhere between $115-$150. There are 4 bolts and this thing is on the top of the motor. The quote was for a new module at more than twice the price of purchase and over an hour of labor. The only good thing I can say is they got us in right away. I don't mind paying a reasonable price, but this was utterly ridiculous. Won't be back.
Response from DUNRITE AUTOMOTIVE
"Customer brought vehicle in for diagnostics, was given cost prior to work, authorized diagnostics, we found cause of complaint and gave estimate for repairs, Prices quoted are retail list price and book labor times which is how we price our repairs. Carry out part prices at discount auto parts stores are always going to be lower than retail list prices we charge."

I think highly of them. Last winter the plastic under the bumper came off and it was making a noise. I went there on a Sunday to the church and also took my car to Dunrite. They were closed, but they opened up and checked my car. The plastic was making the noise as it was loose. Te mechanic took the time to tight the screw, but he did not charge me. Two weeks ago I went to them as the air was low in the tires. They checked all the tires and they dint think it was a flat tire. Two days ago I again got flat tires and they repaired. That. They provide good service. They are easy to talk to and are customer savvy. They were a little expensive. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I looked on ANGIE's and AAA Auto Club and found DUNRITE had a very good rating. Luckily I found them and I UNEXPECTEDLY picked my car up from Borton Volvo where it had been for a brake estimate. When I picked it up it had NO air conditioning though it did when I dropped it off. At Dunrite I explained to them and asked them to please check out the air system. They called me to give me info and estimate of all the work and told me two parts were MISSING off my system and clearly had to of been taken off by someone. When I called BORTON and told him he said.... "oh just bring that back and we'll fix it NO CHARGE..." What? No way, Borton took two parts off my car and they were willing to replace for free, that just told me they will not BE touching my car again. I asked Dunrite to please check for any other oddities appearing with my car. Dunrite restored my trust and treated me very well in a neutral and professional way! They simply reported the problem, corrected it and communicated about it to me in a very professional way. Borton sent the parts right away and paid for the labor as well to Dunrite. I am grateful to have found DUNRITE and I also thank Angie's List and Triple A auto club referral for leading me to Dunrite.

We did not have an appointment and Dunrite took us in right away to replace a burned-out headlight in our Honda. It barely took 10 minutes and we were done! Cost was extremely reasonable: $21.75 for the headlamp and $5 labor! Service was quick and friendly and we'd definitly go back again.

I own five vehicles. In 2006, I received a mailing that advertised Dunrite as a AAA "Top Shop" and I decided to try them out. Dunrite (on Mtka Blvd) now services all my vehicles. I have even had them service items that were covered under warrantee had I gone to a dealer. Their work is always at or below estimate, and I have rarel have had to take anything back for "do-over," and none of those has ever been serious. Best of all, perhaps, is their refusal to do work when they feel that it just isn't worth putting the work in to the vehicle in question: I had a '90 Country Squire that they refused to work on besides oil change after the transmission started failing. There are other examples of this -- no dealer or other repair shop has ever refused to do work because the vehicle wasn't worth it. Beyond that, the owner (Tim) and his staff are all courteous, straightforward about the work and the estimate (and they are periodicaly below estimate, never above). Granted, I have spent many thousands with them over the years, but service was great to start, and continues to be so. Except for my new off-the-lot Grand Marquis that already needs serious work (why do I continue to buy Fords?), I can't conceive of a situation where I would go elsewhere than Dunrite.

While having an oil change and safety inspection at the dealership, the dealer told me the rear tail/brake lights were not working. They told me they checked the bulbs and the bulbs were fine, so it was probably something in the wiring. They wanted to charge me $118 to do the diagnostic work and then whatever was required to fix it. I called Phil at Dunrite. He got me in the same day. He checked it out and found that lo and behold, I had 2 burned out bulbs! Total cost of repair was $30. Who knows how much the dealership would have ripped me off for? Dunrite saved me a lot of money and unnecessary repairs.

It went great. I though it would be more expensive than it was because I initially thought that more work would need to be done, but they told me that it would not. They also cleared a check engine light and let me know that the part was still under warranty from Volkswagen, and they sent me back to the dealer. I was very happy that they were so honest with me.

I have been using them for around a year. They have gotten it right the first time every time I go in there. Their prices are mostly standard. They will not do work if they don't think it is worth it.

Very well! I smelled something burning and I thought it was coolant. They inspected, found grease and oil were being thrown on the exhaust system from the inner CV joint and other seals which had failed. They cleaned and inspected the CV joint and inspected the timing belt. They could have told me that they were worn or damaged and the whole thing could have been $1000. But they just did the work that needed to be done: clean and inspect the mechanical parts, replace the lubricants and replace the damaged seals. I always try to have these guys fix my cars. Phil talks a little too fast but does a great job!

I'VE HAD WORK DONE HERE BEFORE AND THEY ARE CONSISTENTLY GOOD. I ASKED THEM TO DO A TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACEMENT, BUT THEY REMINDED ME THAT THEY ALREADY DID IT LAST WINTER. THEY REALLY KNOW THEIR STUFF AND THEY UNDERSTAND THAT REPEAT BUSINESS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
