General Remodeling
Prepare for Delays, Lack of Communication and Lies: My wife and I entered into a contract with Topchoice to install a new kitchen counter top and a tile back splash in our kitchen and to remodel a small bathroom which was to include a tile shower, painted walls and a vanity that would fit wall to wall in a small space. Our primary project (kitchen counter top) did not even get started and Topchoice cancelled the project without consulting us first. Our secondary project (bathroom remodel) did not get finished to satisfaction or contract agreement. Topchoice finally started demolition of our bathroom after a month of delays. The sub-contractor tiler was on site when I received text messages from Topchoice showing different tile for our shower than we had contracted for. I was informed that the tile we chose was not available for another month even though we were promised they could get it and demolition had started without product on site. I informed the tiler on site for him to install – that was the last time we saw that tiler. After more delays and lack of communication the project started again with a new subcontractor. We were told twice that this sub-contractor would be on site until the project was complete and he would finish the project. I was informed later that the vanity and counter we chose was not complete and I had to choose something else, which I did and paid for out of pocket to get it ordered even though it was already paid for in our down payment and per contract. After the vanity came in Joe from Topchoice showed up to install vanity and stain the trim work, not the sub-contractor as promised. The installation and stain was very poor work which I had to fix. I was told I would receive a refund for the vanity and work I had to perform which came to me in a check 2 months after I had to ask for it several times. Topchoice then cancelled the check stating that another customer of theirs check did not clear the bank so they cancelled mine and would send another. It has now been 3 months and still no refund check. The 5 months it took Topchoice to work on our projects and the complete lack of respect they showed my wife and I was extremely frustrating. I have dealt with hundreds of businesses during my life and business career and have never came into a company that is so flawed and incompetent as Topchoice.
