We hired him to renovate a bathroom, and install/refinish some hardwood flooring in our new house. We were forewarned by others that he was slow and a poor communicator, but were pleasantly surprised with what appeared to be good quality work. After he attempted to finish the floors, it became apparent that he had no idea what he was doing- they looked horrible! We were forced to call some flooring experts to come in behind him and evaluate what had gone wrong, because he said he didn't know. The experts told us immediately what the problems were. He had used an oil-based stain under a water-based sealant, sanded incorrectly, and applied the sealant too quickly after staining. We had to completely redo them. The same happened with our bathroom- experts came in to finish the job, and when they started working they found a double layer of (very expensive) tile rather than taking the time to level out the floor, and a poorly made shower pan that definitely leaked/fallen into our DR below!
The whole experience was a nightmare to say the least! A neighbor of ours referred us to Shoreline Design and we checked with the BBB and he came out clean. We ended up having to project manage a lot of it, because things were constantly a mess. We ended up moving back into our home 2 months after they promised us. After we moved back home we started to find out that even though we paid him, he was not paying some of the sub contractors. We now have a Lien on our home for $30,000.00 from a lumber company and we ended up having to pay another lumber company $12,000 to avoid another lien being placed on our house. Our next door neighbor used the same contractor and is in the same mess we are in right now. We have made many phone calls to Todd Gorr and he will not return our phone calls. We were forced to report him to the Department of Labor & Industry and they are going to do an investigation on him. We have also contacted a lawyer and my need to take action. Do not hire him!
Description of Work: After a tornado hit our home and we were forced to move out, and we hired Todd Gorr to be our general contractor to fix our house, and we also decided to do an addition and some remodeling. He changed the roof-line, added new roof shingles, new siding, new knock down ceilings, added addition, pushed out walls and moved doors, replaced all the windows, all new carpet and flooring and all new countertops and lighting. He hired a lot of different subcontractors to do the work. (Plumbing, Carpet, Granite Countertops, Tile, Heating/Air Conditioning, Siding, Painting, etc.) We moved back into our home in May and it is now October and we still have a page long list of items that are still not done or need to be fixed!
