We had a patio and fire pit installed in 2021 by Mike and his crew. I was sent to pick out the paver and fire pit stone styles and sent all the information to Mike. Weeks go by (supply shortage/issues from the pandemic) and the pavers come in the “grand” size version of the pavers I sent him. He apologized and said we could reorder the other size but it would take weeks and, because they were smaller, it would be more expensive for installation. Annoying. We decided to go ahead, despite them not having the texture we would have gone with if ordering the grand size (we decided on smooth for the smaller size and if we would have went with the larger “grand” size, would have done textured). Not a great way to start the project. The pavers go in and we find the fire pit was installed with the wrong stones as well. We ordered tumbled, they installed smooth. Couldn’t really go back since everything was glued down. Not sure why I even bothered picking the materials out to begin with? Another disappointment, especially with such a large investment. They had some pretty awful cuts at first in the border and came back to fix those for the most part. Next issue was the sand - they tried a new brand on our patio and the sand needed to be installed at least 3 separate times because it would fail and come out of the cracks with any rain/water. The rock beds we agreed upon were not prepped, leaving me with the job of moving all of the topsoil from the driveway to the backyard. This wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if not for the steep slope and lack of gate since we couldn’t walk on that side of the house until the ground firmed up again and the new grass had a chance to grow. I actually had to remove part of our fence on the other side and make a ramp for the wheelbarrow. It would have taken them maybe 10 minutes using the bobcat as we originally planned. In addition, the fire pit ring stone cracked within a few months due to the internal ring (or entire fire pit installation) being off-center and putting pressure on it during the winter. They also damaged our tree with the bobcat. We had a new fire pit ring installed by the crew that remains unglued, cracked pavers and a fence gate that is still much lower and difficult to open/latch after they replaced it following finished the patio. Our fence was also damaged by the bobcat. I wish I didn’t have to write this, but I’ve reached out to Mike each summer to try to resolve these issues and he has now stopped responding entirely. We were told there is a 5-year warranty and clearly that is not honored by this company. Would not recommend.

Michael Funk has to be one of the most amazing landscape and patio contractor I have ever used. First, he was quick and responsive to my initial request for quote. He came over and was very collaborative in the overall design and brainstormed the project for the best outcome. Most contractors wanted a fee for even a basic design and what sold us with Michael was that he sent us a 3D rendering of the patio and landscape design he had in mind so we could see a sketch before committing to the work. Once we finalized the work, he gave an accurate estimate and started the work very timely. Throughout the project he was very flexible with changes and accommodated them quickly. Michael has a great sense of design and as the project was progressing, he would recommend changes because the original design may not look as great now that we can see the progress. I loved the ability to be agile and flex as the project moved forward. Michael completed an awesome stone patio, installed wired landscape lights, completed a concrete patio under deck, leveled the sloping ground with outcroppings, designed a beautiful landscape and finally hydroseeded the lawn on a new construction. After the project completed, there were tremendous thunderstorms that washed away quite a bit of the hydroseed. Michael returned quickly to overseed and patch the washed away areas. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Michael and i wish him the very best in his life and career and hope that we will use him again for other projects down the road.

Good overall experience. Mike provided creative solution to reduce cost of putting in composite decking material and recommended pavers which looked great. Prices were fair.

Mike listened to what we wanted and came in with his crew and got it done. It was a job that had to be done when the ice was thick enough on the lake so they could bring their heavier equipment across the lake and access our beach without tearing up the lawn. They brought in a lot of larger rocks (8-12") and cleaned out the small stuff. Mike communicated his timing with us and they got it all done faster than we even anticipated. It looks great and we are really looking forward to a summer when we do not have to constantly clean the beach area of smaller rocks

Although it rained for a couple of days after the project started, Mike and his crew maximized their time, keeping the project moving. They worked fast and kept to the schedule.

It went great. Mike listened to what we wanted and we designed the project together. He designed the project with the intent that it would be done correctly and will last. He addressed all of the potential concerns we had with water drainage, slope of our yard and upkeep of the patio. We are very pleased. It is beautiful to look at and built securely. We would definitely work with Mike and his team again .
